Bravo man! Good editing, summarization and video all around. A series as great as this should be recognized as what it is an amazing rpg with stunning visuals, good writing, and occasionally wild mechanics and your video does a good job at it! Hope to see more
Loved the script, fantastic work and it is nice to see people seeing Shania for who she is rather than pigeonholing her character into simplistic narrow bounds. Looking forward to your next essay
The funny thing about Karl Marx is that he never could see the kinds of offshoots that would spawn of his theory which would lead to many factions that are arguably more oppressive than Moebius. Joseph Stalin erased people from people's minds and history,Mao Zedong starved his people and helped to create the conditions for the One Child Policy and its current consequences,Che Guevara has some interesting opinions to day about people with darker skin than his,Francisco Franco is interesting and I argue is the most right amongst all them and I don't need to say anything about an Austrian Painter turned German Chancellor. As far as Late Stage Capitalism,we haven't lived in what could be called as such for decades. Granted I doubt we can really make a functioning system for Communism/Socialism cause of one thing. Human Nature cannot be beat. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences has been disastrous to Mankind.
It is kind of interesting to me that whenever Socialism is mentioned, it is used to describe authoritarian regimes like Mao Zedong or Joe Stalin, yet simultaneously it is often used to describe people like Salvador Allende or, more recently, Tim Walz. I'd like to think the former isn't compatible with the latter for obvious reasons. My perspective on Capitalism may come off short sighted, but I do live in US. It is effectively the richest country on the planet but still suffers from things like homelessness, people starving to death, and significantly higher mass shootings than basically anywhere else. It is like this because there is simply no profit motive to save lives, and Capitalism needs profit to justify its existence. Loss of life through this is often seen as things working as intended opposed to something morally reprehensible. Which is what Xenoblade tried to bring to focus. They also attempted this with villains like Zanza and Amalthus and how they preserve themselves. As the game shows, there was simply nothing more oppressive than Moebius. War and the endless slaughtering of life ends up being the goal for the facist. Facism justifies war, and it was the ONLY thing Aionios was built on. Moebius NEEDED people to die in order to preserve their system, which only existed to kill people endlessly. At this point in time, I'd like to think that human nature is very much beyond this.
@CronoEpsilon War is just an inevitable part of life and Human Nature. So long as people have differences,we will fight and sadly kill each other and justify ourselves over it. I mean......look at the current conflict in the Middle East with a good portion of the Xenoblade Fandom are Pro Palestine and I don't blame them.
@CronoEpsilon As for First World Countries and people feeling like Shania,I love the Pro-Natalist Arguments of poor folks having more kids but neglect the free child labor for their farms and family businesses. What is funny is how irrelevant to real life the babies plotline of Xenoblade 3 is to Japan even when the game was being made.
Its very hard for me took at a the scene in the maternity ward with the newborn child and simultaneously have the mentality that war is simply within human nature. Evil like that isn't inherent within people. It would have had to be taught by someone or something else. These wars that seemingly go on endlessly also have profit motives, which again, goes back to the whole Capitalism thing and how little human life matters to it. In that regard, being pro-Palestine makes perfect sense. I don't believe that baby scene is irrelevant. I also don't believe it was meant to be seen as pro-natalist as much as it is trying to convey the vast sea of choices and the agency the people of the City have compared to Keves and Agnus (Having children just so happened to be one of those freedoms). When Monica describes the word "spouse" to Noah, she doesn't do so strictly with the intent that he should absolutely reproduce, but to understand what it means to protect the one closest to him.
@CronoEpsilon Life Corrupts due to experience. We don't necessarily get to be born evil unless you subscribe to Original Sin. But I have seen kids do and say stuff that makes us adults think twice so I dunno. My point is that it wouldn't matter as many adults aren't able to have kids in this environment and the ones than can won't cause why give our corporate overlords more slaves? Looking at the state of the Real World made me consider The Whites Ending of SMT IV as the only true solution to the problems with existence cause the Neutral Endings are too anime for a Megaten game story.
You mean Shania? Moebius granted her the power and agency she was looking for when no one else did. She always feels inferior and has a constant desire for validation. Considering that Moebius only lives in the "Now", there's nothing more validating at that moment than turning that power she had on the world that wronged her.
Although its two years later this game still holds a place in my heart and has changed my outlook on life
amazing work im glad the algo dropped your video in my lap
@@peytonwilkins890 Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Well if Ontos himself said the script was good, surely I'm doing something right lol 😆
Thank you so much!
Funny how I got the game a year after the release after going through a binder of Xenoblade games with Definitive Editon XBC1 and XBC2.

2+❤a
The problem I have with Ghondor is that I understand why she would become a villain due to her mothers abuse, her logic as a villain makes no sense
