I think I lost my original copy of this like 20 years back. This is actually one of my favorite NYHC "albums" of all time. One of the first HC bands I saw live as well.
80's yes, but 90s that's debatable. - depends on how much more metal you like in your hardcore punk. I thought the Raw Deal demo ripped. Thought were gonna be the next Sick of It All. = Blood sweat and no tears - vein. Then both bands started experimenting with more metal riffs, and more metal breakdowns and got slower than their first releases, when I lost interest.
This really is special...listening to this type of music for 28 years or so i've heard ALOT and this tape was really high quality...the recording and the songs themselves...just amazingly good..this and fathead suburbia and new york wolfpack were all top notch nyhc bands of this time
LYRICS! Anybody got a lyrics sheet to this - I kinda remember the lyrics to "Wall Of Hate" - my fave song from this set. I was real lucky to see them (from a coveted stage right security spot) @ Irving Plaza - THEY KILLED IT, but they really didn't have enough songs for a full set, so everyone was like, "Yo, play "Wall Of Hate" again!". I have never seen a pit go crazier than the second time they played that song. Thanks to whoever put this up - you did everyone a REAL favor! THANKS! REALLY!
Prying eyes cut down to size before a word is spoken Friendship dies with useless lies promises are broken Romantic ties bring outraged cries too strong to ever hide I’m trapped behind a wall of hate that no one sees inside Can’t you read the writing on the wall It’s too late for anyone at all Don’t try to touch me cuz there’s nothing you can do If you get too close this wall will fall all over you
Great Hardcore them Sick of it all Breakdown Outburst And many other bands of the late "80", s and early " 90", s were great. Started going to shows in "1986" and seen a lot of Hardcore shows in N.Y. at The Wetlands C.I.H. Bond street cafe CBGB's and other clubs always had lots of fun it was a very strong Scene and 90℅ of the people I met and seen were cool! The shows back then were anywhere From $2.00 to $12.00 depending in which club you went to and most shows I went to there were always 3 to 6 or even some 7 bands that were on the bill that day. Especially Matinee shows on Sunday.
Sunday matinees were the best venues and in NJ the American legion and v.f.w. shows always had a ton of bands on the bill for like 5 bucks at the door I miss those times
Great N.Y.C. Hardcore! Them and Sick Of It All are my favorite bands from the late "80", s From N.Y.C. But there so many great Hardcore bands from N.Y. during the late " 80" s and early "90", s too! N.Y.C.Hardcore Lives!!
Brough Jidus love your comment... the new breed comp s couple years ago was released on double Vinyl.. Just to case you haven’t heard awesome compilation
i love this so much. this is ripping so hard. if i could go back in time and live through anything itd be the origin of hardcore punk and as thrash became a thing id have just as much and more fun
Great Demo of then Raw Deal before they changed there name to Killing Time. The Record. company had a mail in promotion of buying this on Cassette for 3.00 plus other bands like Sick Of It All too just to name a couple!
Wall if hate is one of the best hardcore songs of 88. I call it hardcore punk still tho..at this point these guys hadnt dropped the punk part of it in my opinion. Seems like I remember their being a different demo tape of this goin around too....loved this band a lot... still do actually...
When hardcore still sounded like hardcore. A friend recorded this off his vinyl for me, was a bit crushed when the tape died. I havent heard this since 89. Thanks for puttin it up Yeah Killing Time was crap compared to this
still some good new bands that are coming out mate, like Violent Reaction - 86 Mentality- Semper Eadem - Skrapyard, No Time (awesome retro Hc band from Canada too ) etc just more underground these days I suppose. Just got to know where to look
Shit man i have an old vhs dub of KT playing every one of these songs live and they are fucking killing it!!!! Honestly those live songs sound just like this demo but a little bit faster.
One of the few bands from that era that were exceptional. Great riffs and great lyrics and at times I would laugh at how pissed off the lyrics were. Hardcore has a lot things you can laugh at in hindsight. Why did they change their name to Killing Time? I think it was bad move and a shitty name. When bands change their name, especially when they are gaining in popularity it's always usually a bad move. Most of those NYHC bands were a dime a dozen and I rarely go back and listen to them. Back in the late 80's when these bands were relevant I would listen to a lot of NYHC, Metal, Punk, and the NO Wave NYC was high on my list. I was pretty diverse so NYHC bands was big on my playlist for a couple of years. I landed on Noise Rock and stayed in that genre for years. I'm just blabberin.. My small list of NYHC bands I still listen to every now and then Nausea / Agnostic Front / GB / SIDEBYSIDE / Sheer Terror / Warzone / Cro-mags / Raw Deal / Born Against (really not a NYHC band but I can't think where else to throw them) and same goes for Rohrshack.
The name change was due to an already existing band that had the name "Raw Deal". I believe they were a band from the UK that never really went anywhere.
one of the best demos of NYHC
Du bon hardcore New-Yorkais....C'est toujours un régal pour les oreilles...
I think I lost my original copy of this like 20 years back. This is actually one of my favorite NYHC "albums" of all time. One of the first HC bands I saw live as well.
This the breakdown and the sick of it all in my permanent top 3 demos. Behind of course the CRO MAGS
I was there
Beyond
Raw Deal/Killing Time, The Abused, Antidote, Sheer Terror, Sick of it All, Agnostic Front
i still have the original demo tape with the photo copied insert. this is pretty good quality, thanks . the 80's and early 90's rocked for NYHC
let me get that

Sometimes if ya play it back slow you can hear what they say better. Try adjusting the play back speed

The Definition of New York hard-core 88..89
There shows we're so insane, as you hear every song is relentless.
Killing time blows though

New York Hard Core!!!! When the scene was great
TheKennykk dam right 1989 forever
The drummer is my kinda dude! Kikn ASS who is he?
99% sure Anthony Drago (from Breakdown) is your man here. A few of the Breakdown boys split from the singer and started Raw Deal fresh.
It's Drago. I grew up with him. I still go see them play. Were in our 50s.
