$80-$100k for the featured pond. $2k for the mud puddle.
You can do a lot DIY but the real cost from the machinery and the rocks esp moving and placing the bog boys

Yeah ikr haha Im building a bigger and deeper one with my parents right now and all it's costed is 650 CAD for liner, under-liner, and pump/filter. 1 day of digging, 1 of landscaping dirt mound, and today we are gonna set the pond liner. These pond videos are educational and have taught me how to build ponds in less than a couple hours but are bad for business because they show how easy it is to make a pond... The guy exposed himself when he said he built the toe-pond with his kid after school, if it takes a couple hours between a father-son duo it isn't worth 2 grand.

Noticed a few people mentioning they have a small challenge with the cost of the ponds.
Greg and the aquascape guys are giving you costs with absolutely everything done for you.
Because they want the pond done RIGHT and they want the customer served RIGHT.
I’m not sure people understand the costs the teams have in making sure the afore mentioned statement applies to all their customer/friends.
The cost of coming out seeing your place doing a design.
The cost of excavation & percentage of machine or the hire of the machine fuel & operator/trucks.
The cost of the products, liner pumps, filtration, pipes.
The man hours in fitting it, laying the stones, the years of knowledge about things like bib liners, waterfall stones, proper circulation of the water, power heads, knowledge on things like hydrostatic pressure & what to do about it.
    The cost of plants
    The cost of fish/snails/crays
    The cost of filling it,
The list goes on with even more things like.....
The cost of the having to set up run and maintain a show room or display centre.
Now in saying all that if you are determined to have it you can.
I’m saving for all the things I need and can’t source myself or can source but would be of lower quality.
I’m going to get all my stone myself ( have asked a local farmer if I can clear his paddocks of rocks ( he is thrilled at the idea )) it’s going to take me a while ( im thinking about thirty pick ups each time I’m going past a few rocks at a time in my vehicle. )I’m going to design ( after watching every video from every aquascape team I can ) & dig what I can,
I’m going to do it sections.
I literally have no money, all my money is paying off my mortgage ( bleh ever notice mortgage has the French word for death in it 😳😫 )
    But I will do it!!!!!!!
At this stage I estimate I may have the feeder pond ( small but large enough to get wet and cool down in our 40+ deg C (104deg F ) summer temps )
    Done by this summer.
It will probably take me another three years to save just for the liner I want for the big swim pond it feeds into so I’m guessing 5-10 years completion for the entire project but I’m determined!
Will mean a huge difference for a health issue I have and for my son to be able to cool off between study breaks. ( he dearly wants to be a westpac rescue helicopter pilot as they saved my life before he was born )
    So please don’t give up!
If you are determined and focused and use the knowledge Greg & team aqua scape offers you for nothing and save even a few dollars a week for the essential hardware bits you can do it !( seriously if I can you can!!!!!)

I've made mine for around $300 and it's over 10 feet long, though I should have gone for an aquascape pond liner since they're much more reliable and durable, which would bring the price to $400, which is still great. Of course if you're doing it yourself for the first time it won't be as good as one made by a professional, but if you spend a bit of time watching videos and plan ahead, you can make something well worth the money.

I wish with your exposure and expertise more zoos would hire Aquascape to build natural ponds for large animals. I know there’s the video on the channel of your team redesigning a duck pond for a zoo but I wish more zoos used your team. As a zookeeper, I can’t tell you how many zoos I’ve worked at or visited that still follow the concrete, unnatural approach to their “natural” pools.

Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy I’m currently going for my masters in landscape architecture with the purpose to design zoo enclosures. Greg, you can bet, when I get in with a firm that designs zoo enclosures, I’m going to preach your company to other firms and zoos.

@@GregWittstockThePondGuy you are not on same page, most zoo workers do it for the animals. you do it for greed. foh

A 30 by 70 hole cost as much as my 3 bedroom house that is only 5 years old. The mark up on these things just keeps going up.

I've heard of some guitars being made from timber that had been submerged for 1-200 years. basically these were logs that sank as they were being floated down river or whatever, and they were recovered 100+ years later in amazing condition. Interesting stuff.

Question(and idk if they'd answered this or not. Just found you guys): do ponds like these raise the value of your home or not?

    • @nicktopo8380
      @nicktopo8380 3 роки тому

not unless it is a worth while feature for the home.

    • @davidfoust9767

They will but probably not by as much as you spent. If you put in a $100k pond it might raise the value of your house by $10-20k.

Great water features! Would love a set of stacked slate urns, but no one seem to deliver them to Sweden at a reasonable rate ...

We love your channel! We are in the begging stages of converting a fiberglass pool into a pond. The fiberglass is a very light blue and is exposed to full sun. We live in Florida and are doing it off of a small bird caged pool. My question is do we have to use the heavy black land scaping tarp or is there any sort of black paint that we can use?

$2k!?!? Wow...that’s ridiculously expensive. Probably less than $150 in supplies. I made a waterfall feature and a 20 foot river to a 8x4’ pond for less than $300.

Under $2k? That’s cheap compared to NY, I live in Long Island NY, it’s a pain in the neck to build anything a pond or a deck needs permit and get ready for a property tax hikes. 😬 I love to have a pond and a floating deck to do my yoga exercise but after reading all the permit requirements and tax increases, I’m so disappointed at the Hempstead town, NYS altogether
