Hey Fam, I got great news! With the latest Motion 5 update, you now get access to the all new Object Tracker! This helps substantially when wanting to have the LOCKED ON look. Go check out my latest tutorial covering this topic! ua-cam.com/video/Y6mhr2pztos/v-deo.html
This tutorial is almost a year old, but I just stumbled on to this while I was clicking around on your channel. I never knew Motion had a region tracker! It’s probably not needed as much with the latest FCP updates (with better tracking) but, I could have saved so much time in the past had I known this. Most FCP Channels demonstrate the same basic features. What I love about your stuff Dylan, is how your tutorials highlight things that are so different and unique. Thanks Bro!
YES!!! Thank you man! :D You really made my day! A disclaimer :) "bez instrukcji" is actually only a channel, direct translation is "without manual" (please do not ask ;) and my name is Marcin, nice to meet you ;) one one more time thank tou! :)
The more you know! I just assume everything is a name 😂 - so glad I could finally get this tutorial out for you. Hope it helps! I actually learned quite a bit myself putting this together. Let me know if you have any other great ideas!
That's super frustrating! Hopefully they get it figured out. I will say, the tracker in Pixel Films is definitely generally better than the one in Motion (when it's working of course.) So hopefully you will get some use out of it soon when they get their tracker working for M1.
Thanks for the info. I like those extra stabilization features in Motion. What effect would be ideal for filling in the black areas if one didn't use zoom? In After Effects, the motion tile effect does that, basically by filling the empty space with mirrored parts, but I don't see an effect like that in Motion or FCPX.
Great tutorial! Motion is so powerful, it's too bad it is not integrated better into FCPX. Hopefully there will be an update someday to give it the ability to round trip like premiere/after effects.
Agreed! I would love for FCP to have integration much like After Effects does with Premiere. Maybe someday if we give Apple a few trillion more dollars they will finally help us editors out haha! Thanks for watching!
Can you show a hyperlapse stabilization, preferably an orbit where it is hard to track one point and find a rotation vertical or horizontal line? Would love to learn it. Thx
Great idea! I’ll add that to the list. Thanks for the suggestion. I imagine it would be similar to the point tracking in this video, but probably require a few extra steps. Thanks for watching!
@@TheFinalCutBro thanks. I can't wait. Since I'm sure it needs different techniques because there are no straight lines to use for rotation stabilization.
Great Tuts as usual mate! How to create a brush tool to use in FCPX? I agree with Daniel Szimuly RIP Pixel Film Studios:) Keep educating the masses mate! Thank you.
Great job dude! This was so helpful! 😊 Just curious, would it be possible to publish those parameters to FCPX and essential bring those stabilization and tracking features into FCPX? 🤔
Thanks man! Dude I wish! I looked into it, but unfortunately you can’t publish the motion tracking parameters. But it seems like such an easy thing for Apple to add! I wish they would. I’ve heard the next update of Final Cut Pro is going to be a substantial one. Maybe they’ll finally add something like that. But that’s likely just wishful thinking 😂
@@TheFinalCutBro Haha probably! But it would be amazing if they incorporated those stabilization features natively into FCP. When is the new update expected? 😬
@@TheFinalCutBro you just need to open motion using 'show package content' and search for motion in finder. There will be folder with 4 motion projects and then you need convert those projects into effects and add them to the motion templates folder
@@chesswithsamrat1821 This response has me super intrigued! So I just looked at the folders you were describing and located the actual project files for Stabilization & Motion tracking. However, I tried publishing the parameters from those files into FCP and had zero luck. Is there possibly a tutorial or something you have seen that I might be able to take a look at and figure out? Would love to pass this info on to everyone watching the channel! From what I can see, those are just simple projects created to showcase what each behaviour does in the preview window, rather than the actual behaviours themselves that Motion uses to analyze the footage.
Does the “track region” only work or designed to work successfully on solid shapes with corners? Or can you use it to track people and subjects as well. Trying to find a good way of tracking and reframing people in like a dance scene where would have to constantly switch the person of interest. It’s bit cumbersome in motion the way I’m currently doing it so was hoping the track region may work better
That’s a good question! I haven’t tried it with people. Unfortunately I have a feeling it wouldn’t work super well, and that it’s likely more designed for buildings and easily trackable shapes. I could be totally wrong though (and I hope I am). I would say the best way to find out is by trying! Out of curiosity, how are you currently tracking people in Motion? I might have some ideas on how to make it a bit easier.
Unfortunately no, not at this time :( you can purchase the Mtracker 3D plug-in though, and that will let you track in motion, but it’s pretty expensive. Thanks for watching!

RIP pixel film studios stabiliser, great video man! This should be in FCP by default.
100% agree! Thanks so much for watching 👊

I paid for the pixel films tracker and the M1 chip is beating my workflow up. Wish I had seen this earlier! Thanks 🙏🏽

that's so helpful, love your channel you are the only pro doing motion things.
Thanks Sebastián! I am so excited for all that I have planned 👊
Dude!!! Wow 🤩 what an amazing tutorial. Thanks bro 😎
Thanks for watching and the support! 👊

Motion is underrated for sure because there are less templates avaiable compared to After effects people just assume it is a bad software.
So true! My knowledge of motion barely scratches the surface, but there’s an insane amount of power to be used within motion.
thx for that
✌️
Thanks, this is great, but it only allows me to stabilise ten seconds - is that correct or is there a setting I can change? Thanks.
You are great!
Hoping you could get more subs and love from your viewers. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

is there a easy and streamlined way to open the shot you want to import into motion from final cut pro's timeline?

Motion 5.6.3 has removed "Track region" from the panel...
It looks like it's back with 5.6.5
