How does it matter if its the same people making the decisions? They can come up with any criteria to determine who gets in and who does not. They'll still let in the people they want in and keep out who they want to keep out. Just different dressing.

Asian American students who excel in Science and Technology really should be looking at Asia and countries like China to go do their post secondary education

      Then there is this
      👇
China’s universities just grabbed 6 of the top 10 spots in one worldwide science ranking - without changing a thing
      Published: April 2, 2024 8.29am EDT

      * Where once the list of universities with the highest scientific impact would have been dominated by U.S. and U.K. schools including Cambridge, Stanford, Harvard and MIT, the new top 10 list of universities with high scientific impact includes six universities from China.
What does this transformation mean for understanding scholarly excellence? I study the global research system and its contribution to social welfare. China’s swift progress in science and technology, propelled by investments in research and university strength, has alarmed the United States and other nations. Concerns are mounting that the U.S. may be losing its competitive advantage to an assertive rival, with potential implications for national security, economic standing and global influence. These new rankings will likely raise even more alarm.

China has a 'stunning lead' over the US in the research of 37 out of 44 critical and emerging technologies, new study finds
China leads in 37 of 44 technologies tracked in a year-long project by thinktank the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. The fields include electric batteries, hypersonics and advanced radio-frequency communications such as 5G and 6G.
The report, published on Thursday, said the US was the leader in just the remaining seven technologies such as vaccines, quantum computing and space launch systems.
It said the findings were based on “high impact” research in critical and emerging technology fields, focusing on papers that were published in top-tier journals and were highly cited by subsequent research.
“Our research reveals that China has built the foundations to position itself as the world’s leading science and technology superpower, by establishing a sometimes stunning lead in high-impact research across the majority of critical and emerging technology domains,” the report said.
The critical technology tracker shows that, for some technologies, all of the world’s top 10 leading research institutions are based in China and are collectively generating nine times more high-impact research papers than the second-ranked country (most often the US).”

Reverse Brain Drain? Exploring Trends among Chinese Scientists in the U.S. [ 5 min read ]
      Updated July 15, 2024
China has been the most important foreign supplier of U.S.-based scientists for more than two decades.
While most China-born, U.S.-based scientists intend to stay in the U.S., the number leaving has steadily increased.
After the Department of Justice implemented the "China Initiative" in 2018, departures increased by 75%, with two-thirds of the relocated scientists moving to China.
Surveyed scientists of Chinese descent in the U.S. report anxiety and new difficulties in pursuing their research, with 61% considering leaving the U.S. and 45% avoiding federal grant applications.
U.S. science will likely suffer given the loss of scientific talent to China and other countries.

Yeah what are you even talking about? The average black student had 250 points less on their SAT's compared to Asian students and the black student was still valued higher, leading to school mismatch and absurdly high level of black dropouts from elite universities because they obviously can't compete at the same level as students that got in purely based on their academic criteria. Black students were about 5x more likely to dropout from elite universities than Asians or whites, which defeats the whole purpose and only serves to demoralize the young black student. You can't take data from 1 year from just 2 schools and make up your mind. It will take a while for all the numbers to come out.

      @JoeJoe-cq1oo Місяць тому

@@KingKong11730 Listen, you recessive chromosome of a human being, a lot of the drop off rate has to do with a lack of finance and economic means. Not intelligence. And if you actually look at the data, it's more white students that drop out of university because they can't afford it. But what you really mean to say, is that Asian people are a lot smarter than black people. And of course, as always, you want to legitimize yourself by equating Asians to white people. Grand. Here are some more numbers for you. Over 4 billion people in the world are Asian, compared to hundreds of million black people. Four Billion Asians, if you guys are that significantly more intelligent than others, shouldn't we see at least a million Asian Einsteins? Where are they? And why is it that Asians are one of the poorest people in the world, with over 1 billion Asians living on $1.90 per day? Stop making this into a race issue. It's not a race issue. It is a cultural, social and economic issue. You would think with your "high" Asian intelligence and your +250 SAT points you would understand the situation.

So what! The Asian community got the financial help that was systematically denied to black entrepreneurs to open businesses in black communities. That meant the Asian community got to take that money out of the Black community to pay for the extra lessons, SAT prep and even private schools for their kids. So now, you we still need to even better despite the disadvantages?
When the USA wanted to keep the Asian community out, it was the black community that raised our voices and ask for inclusion and fairness for Asians. So now the payback is to squeeze us out when we weren't even in these places in great numbers in the first place.

Asian American students who excel in Science and Technology really should be looking at Asia and countries like China to go do their post secondary education
China leads the world in 37 of 44 critical technologies of the future
      Then there is this
      👇
China’s universities just grabbed 6 of the top 10 spots in one worldwide science ranking - without changing a thing
      Published: April 2, 2024 8.29am EDT
      Updated: April 3, 2024 12.31pm EDT

Not all Black People require Affirmative Action, if it's solely based on Economics and/or GPA.
And if that's the case: My question is; out of all the people that used Affirmative Action, how many were actually Black and needed Affirmative Action?
Also, I've never "knowingly" met another Black Person that actually used the program or knew what qualifies a Black person for the Program. At least, that I can think of.
That being said, I would think the main purpose of Affirmative Action would be for Blacks that qualify Academically and possibly Economically; "but wouldn't normally be accepted" into the institution/college/corporation based on their Race and Social Status. Which would be to combat issues such as Redlining. Ironically, this was also an issue with Blacks not being allowed to fight in wars and fly airplanes in the past. Furthermore, Segregation was also in sports, communities and schools.
So, it's understandable why some in the Black Community would be hurt in this situation as it can appear to resemble regression instead of progress. Especially, as some in the Asian Community seek to not be discriminated against just fought one of the tools used to keep Black Community from getting discriminated against.

An example of affirmative action would be out of 100 slots for a job or college admission 50 would be reserved for white men and the other 50 would be for white women, people of color, and LGBTQ community. There are too many…let me repeat… TOO MANY…people pursuing elitism in all phase of life. Too many people want to drive a Mercedes Benz, not because it’s better than alternative vehicles, but because of the implied exclusivity of the brand. The same thing is happening with these so-called “elite” universities. Too many Asian families are doing the same thing here in the U.S. they did in their home countries with this hyper competitive mindset. Take South Korea for example, where many families act as is failure to gain acceptance to a SKY institution is an automatic death sentence. Here in the U.S. there are many pathways to success and the majority of those pathways have NOTHING TO DO WITH graduation from an Ivy League institution. Sane people of all ethnicities realize this and simply move forward in life, using whatever “regular person” degrees & accreditations they can capture. It’s a waste of time bitching about whatever club refused you entry. Go where you’re wanted, respected and appreciated! A degree from a prominent state school is just as good as one from an “elite” university.

The prestige associated with the schools is from the legacy families who only donate for their kids sake. The rich kids are the reason the colleges have so many amenities and world class professors, for better or worse.

It is projected to drop next year then increase in 2026 slightly, peak in 2027 only to drop again to 2021 levels by 2028. Ironically, even with the declines in admissions in 2025 & 2028, they still get in at a higher rate than everyone else EXCEPT yt students who are the majority in the country anyway! So, it would appear that getting rid of Affirmative Action had nothing to do with them “the blacks” keeping them from getting admitted and everything to do with removing Hispanics, African Americans, and Native American students from being accepted as if they weren’t already being accepted at a lower rate than Asian Americans to begin with! 😂

I actually don't think the data is inclusive. We do need to wait for at least five years to get deeper insight into what the trend will be, for sure. But I absolutely think the data shows that there really has been no change since the bill passed that eliminated affirmative action. When you look at the average, the rates have not changed much at all. If you look at it across the board rather than individual schools, you will see that it really had little effect. I think that is very important to note because the crux of the argument was that black people are claiming asian spots. It implied that we are smarter (as Asians), and we know those spots belong to us - they (black people)shouldn't be there and the ONLY reason they are is because of affirmative action. I'm sorry, but I understand being pro whatever your group is, but that stance was indeed racist and not factual. As a black kid growing up in a racist area, I scored perfect scores on standarized testing and school administration put me in gifted classes. Racist people, who didn't want diversity in gifted classes. White racist staff and parents made the same statements about why I shouldn't be let into those classes, as the people wanting to remove affirmative action. Let me also say that in science, intelligence has nothing to do with race, its mostly based on social-culture, diet and economic opportunities. Affirmative Actions was also not created for black Americans (13.5% of U.S population) yet the black/brown group was still targeted (at Harvard). The protection was for white women (37% of U.S population) as the largest group to benefit from it but that's hardly ever mentioned. at all I believe it would have been best to start this discussion with the fact that racial identities are social constructs because modern humans (us) have 99.9% of the same DNA. We also need to clearly state that homo-sapiens-sapiens (modern humans)originated from the African continent, we are all cousins so welcome baby and chill out.

They use Asians in a caste system. America is nothing without African Americans more than half of Americas inventions and innovations came from African Americans. African Americans is the only group of people that fought in every single American war and the only group to never receive reparations after the fact that our communities was destroyed. @@J4-nv8du It is not wishful thinking, but survival. Over many decades, even centuries, Black Americans are taught from a young age that in order to get a specific job, profession, college admission, position, business, etc. we have to be better than the best to even be glanced at. We are also taught we must be the best dressed and carry ourselves with a certain dignity in professional settings, not like what others can get away with, lest we get stereotyped and overlooked. That doesn't mean we don't have troubled, corrupted groups of young people in our communities that have made doing well in school almost out to be an offence. However, we don't have even half of our academic or scientific achievements in the mainstream news. There are and have been so many exceptional Black children and students all across the nation. Here is a small snapshot of my family and community. My cousin went to college at the age of 9. My sister was able to skip her Freshman year at one of the top high schools in the country and started as a Sophomore. When she took the admissions test she had already aced the 1st year academics. When she got her Master's degree, she was younger than her graduating class. I went to a great high school at the age of 12. So did most of my fellow middle school classmates. I attended university at the age of 15 going on 16 two years younger than my graduating class. This is just facts. The university application process is very detailed, and has the applicants grades from almost their entire academic career, and details any extra curricular activities, skills, standardized test scores, awards, and community service. The admission stats especially for schools using AA can be traced. With some exceptions for merit or circumstances, why wouldn't those schools choose the best or most promising applicants from the 4% of Black AA beneficiaries. The majority of Black applicants accepted to an Ivy League university I have ever seen, known, heard of or read about, were exceptional in their academics or in many other ways that made them stand out.

Ppl have been bending over backward to accommodate for those awful attitudes for decades and still it's seemingly never good enough. I had someone equate violence against Azns in recent years to the LA riots as if they were the same. That was back in 1991 for ONE person compared to the countless incidents against the elderly now. The reality is, in 2024 your group has all the advantage, and yet you still complain about things from years past.
As for the person you're replying to, he's wrong. Azns never blamed blk ppl, you did that all on your own. Every Azn person I know had issue with the fact ethnicity was a variable in admissions. That's all. If you can't see how that's a problem, there's nothing else to talk about.

One of the purposes of taking in race as a factor was to make the campuses more diverse. People only clumping together with those who look like them is a problem. America is not a mono racial country, anyone moving here needs to realize this.

Man, to me black people wanted to get along with Asians and all the other groups. To hear the immigrants talk about black people this way is sad. It would be one question for me. As black people were paying full rent, utilities and food. Did the Asians and other immigrants get government assistance that helped pay rent and other expenses. It was like immigration welfare that the father didn't have to leave the home. The nerve to act like your superior.
