❗️Contrary to popular belief, African Americans are not the sole, or even the primary, beneficiaries of affirmative action. According to the United States Labor Department, the primary beneficiaries of affirmative action are white women. The Department of Labor estimated that 6 million women workers are in higher occupational classifications today than they would have been without affirmative action policies.
Yeah, HBCU enrollment have skyrocketed and can’t keep up with demand. Black students don’t really want to be 5% or less of the college population and deal with the racial BS.
They have the same choices as before. Affirmative action in education stop working to the advantage of black students back in 90’s. Asians actually exposed the charade of black advantage while simultaneously burning their own house down. The results of ignorance is NOT bliss.......
It isn’t hard to understand: these schools need to get rid of legacy. A lot of black kids decided not to even apply or choose Ivy League schools and opted for HBCUs instead. Go where you are wanted.

That's what I never understood about their motive to get rid os AA. Most black kids were going to schools that actually wanted them. Put it like this. Asian just got their wake up call.
This is a mistake. Yeah what are you even talking about? The average black student had 250 points less on their SAT's compared to Asian students and the black student was still valued higher, leading to school mismatch and absurdly high level of black dropouts from elite universities because they obviously can't compete at the same level as students that got in purely based on their academic criteria. Black students were about 5x more likely to dropout from elite universities than Asians or whites, which defeats the whole purpose and only serves to demoralize the young black student. You can't take data from 1 year from just 2 schools and make up your mind. It will take a while for all the numbers to come out.
@@KingKong11730 Listen, you recessive chromosome of a human being, a lot of the drop off rate has to do with a lack of finance and economic means. Not intelligence. It is a cultural, social and economic issue. You would think with your "high" Asian intelligence and your +250 SAT points you would understand the situation.
So what! The Asian community got the financial help that was systematically denied to black entrepreneurs to open businesses in black communities. That meant the Asian community got to take that money out of the Black community to pay for the extra lessons, SAT prep and even private schools for their kids. So now, you we still need to even better despite the disadvantages? When the USA wanted to keep the Asian community out, it was the black community that raised our voices and ask for inclusion and fairness for Asians. So now the payback is to squeeze us out when we weren't even in these places in great numbers in the first place.

I honestly think all the data supports the black perspective that white kids were taking more slots from Asian kids than every other demographic combined. The MIT stats shows just how big a difference legacy makes. And we all know white kids overwhelmingly represent legacy admissions. This should spark the thought process that white adjacency will always be just second place for Asian Americans.
How did this affect legacy Asian Americans , one would figure if their is a substantial population of Asians who have graduated 🎓 it stands to reason their are Asian Americans who overrepersent at elite institutions as legacy with descendants of children now going and first generation Asians competing for slots alongside other minorities. Not all Black People require Affirmative Action, if it's solely based on Economics and/or GPA. And if that's the case: My question is; out of all the people that used Affirmative Action, how many were actually Black and needed Affirmative Action? Also, I've never "knowingly" met another Black Person that actually used the program or knew what qualifies a Black person for the Program. At least, that I can think of. That being said, I would think the main purpose of Affirmative Action would be for Blacks that qualify Academically and possibly Economically; "but wouldn't normally be accepted" into the institution/college/corporation based on their Race and Social Status. Which would be to combat issues such as Redlining. Ironically, this was also an issue with Blacks not being allowed to fight in wars and fly airplanes in the past. Furthermore, Segregation was also in sports, communities and schools. So, it's understandable why some in the Black Community would be hurt in this situation as it can appear to resemble regression instead of progress. You don't understand what affirmative action is. Its not a program to be used or not. Affirmative action was a ruling that gave people who weren't straight white men a chance at a job/school position. People were refusing to hire anyone other than mostly white men. An example of affirmative action would be out of 100 slots for a job or college admission 50 would be reserved for white men and the other 50 would be for white women, people of color, and LGBTQ community. There are too many…let me repeat… TOO MANY…people pursuing elitism in all phase of life. Too many people want to drive a Mercedes Benz, not because it’s better than alternative vehicles, but because of the implied exclusivity of the brand. The same thing is happening with these so-called “elite” universities. Too many Asian families are doing the same thing here in the U.S. they did in their home countries with this hyper competitive mindset. Take South Korea for example, where many families act as is failure to gain acceptance to a SKY institution is an automatic death sentence. Here in the U.S. there are many pathways to success and the majority of those pathways have NOTHING TO DO WITH graduation from an Ivy League institution. Sane people of all ethnicities realize this and simply move forward in life, using whatever “regular person” degrees & accreditations they can capture. I don’t understand why people won’t leave the ivys alone. If you’re an amazing student and/or thinker, you’ll do fine at any college. The prestige associated with the schools is from the legacy families who only donate for their kids sake. The rich kids are the reason the colleges have so many amenities and world class professors, for better or worse. If these elite schools really wanted to be more accessible, they’d increase enrollment and open more campuses. Lord knows they have the capital to do so. But that would bring down the prestige from exclusivity.
Exactly it's the access to money that makes these schools so successful, because that's how they do the startups. I say let the rich kids in, because you always need a bottom half of the class.
Their elite statuses are largely just branding. Yes, their bon-legacy kids are brilliant, but they're not the ones who make the school elite, with top of the line laboratories and well compensated/elite faculty. Perhaps this is why elite universities wanted Affirmative action left alone: they didn't want to expose how little of a meritocratic process they really employed.

What hurts me so much? Is that I truly do love? Asian Americans, black people and Asian people have been fighting for liberation since the 60s. In this country and just how they turned against us to an affirmative action, really hurt me a lot 💔😭
That chart you showed is projected out to 2028. If you look at 2024, Asian American admissions actually increased. It is projected to drop next year then increase in 2026 slightly, peak in 2027 only to drop again to 2021 levels by 2028. Ironically, even with the declines in admissions in 2025 & 2028, they still get in at a higher rate than everyone else EXCEPT yt students who are the majority in the country anyway! So, it would appear that getting rid of Affirmative Action had nothing to do with them “the blacks” keeping them from getting admitted and everything to do with removing Hispanics, African Americans, and Native American students from being accepted as if they weren’t already being accepted at a lower rate than Asian Americans to begin with! 😂
People that have money can pay for someone to write their college essays or edit them. They can pay for SAT intensives. Money does give you an edge with college admissions. It doesn't mean you are smarter.
The IVY League may be private universities, but they accept student loans, which are backstopped by the US Government. They are also tax exempt due to being a university. Since they are private, end that link as well. These institutions can afford to pay the tax, since they are "private".
Totally agree. I work as a physician in Los Angeles and you would think that Asians would just dominate in the medical field. The top researchers and faculty who win teaching awards are disproportionately Asian. Further, the "go to docs" (doctors who other doctors often seek advice from) are disproportionately Asian. However, Chairs of departments of university hospitals are primarily non-Asians. I've noticed it since I was a resident and has just been confirmed over the years.
The asian community is so comfortable under yt supremacy they haven't seen that their communities are capped. With all their education why aren't there more of them in CEO positions? It's because everyone has a place and Asians are used as the upper management class.

Asian Americans were at the center of the Supreme Court decision against Harvard and the University of North Carolina. In both cases, the plaintiffs said that high-achieving Asian American applicants lost out to less academically qualified students.
But none of those Asian student applicants were top acheiving applicants. Schools generally don’t want to admit purely on academic achievement.. especially if you aren’t even a top applicant. Also, at least one of the Asian students sued California schools that don’t even have Affirmative Action. Which shows he may be book smart but not very intelligent.
And come to find out it was all a lie. They was just jealous against black people call it like it is. Our ancestors and mothers and grandparents sacrificed so all minority people had a chance just for them to say your blood spilled don't matter.
When the focus became "African Americans and Affirmative Action," they failed to delineate the people they saw. The majority of Ivy League "black" students are usually Elite Continental Africans whose parents may also be legacy students, especially Nigerians. So although the "Black Population" didn't decline in some cases, they need to consider their competition, which is not a bunch of low-achieving students who are historically rooted in America. Instead, they need to look at the high-achieving Nigerians. The only thing that court case did was fuel the Nigerians to say, "Ok, you're assuming we're affirmative action? Watch this!"

But I absolutely think the data shows that there really has been no change since the bill passed that eliminated affirmative action. When you look at the average, the rates have not changed much at all. If you look at it across the board rather than individual schools, you will see that it really had little effect. I think that is very important to note because the crux of the argument was that black people are claiming asian spots. It implied that we are smarter (as Asians), and we know those spots belong to us - they (black people)shouldn't be there and the ONLY reason they are is because of affirmative action. I'm sorry, but I understand being pro whatever your group is, but that stance was indeed racist and not factual. As a black kid growing up in a racist area, I scored perfect scores on standarized testing and school administration put me in gifted classes. Racist people, who didn't want diversity in gifted classes. White racist staff and parents made the same statements about why I shouldn't be let into those classes, as the people wanting to remove affirmative action. Think about that... they made the SAME argument. However, this was an amazing balanced video. I just wanted to share that observation.
@@KendraLaSalleTV AA was a well-meaning tool that was poorly implemented. they really need to stop counting Hispanic, because that's just another word for white in a lot of cases. They need to use South American, or of Latin or Native descent. I don't know why they would list an ethnicity as a race anyway.
They use race on the Census, it's used by special interests and business to gain federal and state 💰, etc. College admission is no different. Equal outcomes do not exist in America and social mobility is restricted by your position socioeconomically.
While I agree with you, there's a lot of black people in recent years that make everything a racial issue when there's none to be had. Many of them are also openly racist to others. Just look at this comment section.
Looks, let's just be honest and straightforward. This does and will affect Asian enrollment. The main reason is 'Legacy-Admissions'. This only straightens caucasians' position and enrollment. They can also get in under Legacy with sub-par grades. With Affirmative-Action gone, which some in the Asian community didn't realize also benefited them as well. This is lost. At least black folks have HBCU'S. Across the board, AA enrollment didn't drop, but Asian enrollment did. Should've headed the warning ⚠️. Never tether yourself to white supremacists! If you do, you will always eventually lose.
Lets just all agree that the goal was to decrease black enrollment and applications to these schools. And the way it was achieved was to stoke a bottom feeder mentality
We did...HBCU. but now the white folks want to come to them. Go to what y'all created and leave ours alone. Y'all didn't want us so keep the same energy.
As a black American let's uncover another grossly skipped over fact, that many of our fellow Asian students, are not all U.S citizens but will certainly reap the benefits anyway (student visa program). Let me also say that in science, intelligence has nothing to do with race, its mostly based on social-culture, diet and economic opportunities. Affirmative Actions was also not created for black Americans (13.5% of U.S population) yet the black/brown group was still targeted (at Harvard). The protection was for white women (37% of U.S population) as the largest group to benefit from it but that's hardly ever mentioned. at all I believe it would have been best to start this discussion with the fact that racial identities are social constructs because modern humans (us) have 99.9% of the same DNA. We also need to clearly state that homo-sapiens-sapiens (modern humans)originated from the African continent, we are all cousins so welcome baby and chill out.

We are also taught we must be the best dressed and carry ourselves with a certain dignity in professional settings, not like what others can get away with, lest we get stereotyped and overlooked. That doesn't mean we don't have troubled, corrupted groups of young people in our communities that have made doing well in school almost out to be an offence. However, we don't have even half of our academic or scientific achievements in the mainstream news. There are and have been so many exceptional Black children and students all across the nation. Here is a small snapshot of my family and community. My cousin went to college at the age of 9. My sister was able to skip her Freshman year at one of the top high schools in the country and started as a Sophomore. When she took the admissions test she had already aced the 1st year academics. When she got her Master's degree, she was younger than her graduating class. I went to a great high school at the age of 12. So did most of my fellow middle school classmates. I attended university at the age of 15 going on 16 two years younger than my graduating class. This is just facts. The university application process is very detailed, and has the applicants grades from almost their entire academic career, and details any extra curricular activities, skills, standardized test scores, awards, and community service. The admission stats especially for schools using AA can be traced. With some exceptions for merit or circumstances, why wouldn't those schools choose the best or most promising applicants from the 4% of Black AA beneficiaries. The majority of Black applicants accepted to an Ivy League university I have ever seen, known, heard of or read about, were exceptional in their academics or in many other ways that made them stand out.

“Our research reveals that China has built the foundations to position itself as the world’s leading science and technology superpower, by establishing a sometimes stunning lead in high-impact research across the majority of critical and emerging technology domains,” the report said.

HBCU enrollment has steadily been increasing for over 10 years. Trayvon Martin, university of Missouri, BLM has had more affect than affirmative action.
He never did any of his own work. Didn’t have a clue about anything. He would barely pass exams: finals, etc. My son said he just partied and picked up girls.
Especially, as some in the Asian Community seek to not be discriminated against just fought one of the tools used to keep Black Community from getting discriminated against.
Facts. This is something that people of Non-Chocolate communities don't understand. The other thing is they don't understand that Chocolate folks weren't the only people that AA protected.
White women have historically benefited from AA - then other non whites- black people were last to fill in these quotas. No one takes into account it was always a quota- it’s not a flood gate was opened to let non whites in any institution.
They STILL have to be EQUALLY qualified. They do not lower standards for anyone.
Affirmative action only ensured that people other than straight white men who were equally qualified would also be accepted for a position.

They should have went after the legacy students who are usually academically challenged.

I actually don't think the data is inclusive. We do need to wait for at least five years to get deeper insight into what the trend will be, for sure. Over many decades, even centuries, Black Americans are taught from a young age that in order to get a specific job, profession, college admission, position, business, etc. we have to be better than the best to even be glanced at.
