I was watching that morning when he was on the Don Imus Show & performed this. It was awesome--- I danced around the room & sang along! This Kentucky Girl is proud of our Dwight.
This is Eddie Barnett and I really like the way Yoakam yoakam sing sunny side of the mountain it sounds real good is good to see him back so singing to his roots
HE GREW UP IN COLUMBUS, OHIO. MY MOM WENT TO CHURCH WITH HIM. RELATIVES IN KY THOUGH. I'D CLAIM KENTUCKY TOO IF I WERE SINGING LIKE HE DOES. AMAZING ARTIST NONETHELESS
***** Incredible, Dwight !! You and the Guys are having a great time with this one. I love the non-dancing, and do you have rhythm or what ?!? Just love everything you do.:) *****
I'm a big bluegrass fan, and I really like the banjo on this. It's different from grass, but it really rolls along....great job. If everybody played everything the same way, what would be the point?
I met him on his tour bus back in 2007 or 2006 that time frame in Hanford CA during the Blame The Vain tour....he recognized my accent an he grew up not to far from me...
Luv Dwight....been a fan for a long time....seen him several times, including up at Ralph's for his 50th anniversary. I like this version, but I still can't get past Jimmy Martin's. We saw him do it many times at Sunset Park. The way he holds those notes and the whole band is playing at 90 miles an hour....Jimmy just owns this song. It's bluegrass at its best!!
Love Dwight or go home. This is just their version, and it's great. Dwight is not trying to be Jimmy Martin or anyone else, and if you were a real Dwight fan, you would know that. He's never changed for anyone. Stay on, Dwight !! 30 year fan and forever.
@dukeofearlbanjo Dude where is your banjo solo? Any vid of you on UA-cam? You know the old saying..opionions are like******** everybodys got one.....Just sayin.
Oh my God! Sacrilege! Next thing you know you'll throw in a saxophone. Dear Jimmy, please forgive Dwight for his sins. Amen. (Naw - just kidding. Nice job - nice variation, slowing it down like that. I'd never seen this before, great video).
Oh good grief...the bluegrass police have sure done a number in the comments section here. Why not just appreciate it as a song, rather than as some test of whether it's "true" bluegrass? At any rate, the real problem is that Dwight's voice sounds like shit. Maybe he had a head cold during this song.
This song is kind of hard to sing becuase of the sycopation, so give him the benefit of the doubt. It is weak grass though. Were the hell is the harmony on the chorus? Wheres the damn fiddle? Jimmy is rolling over in his grave or atleast cussing up a storm. The version he does with Vasser and Nitty Gritty on the Circle album is f-ing perfect. Jimmy is like Hank.... you can do your own version of their songs, but it will be 50 proof.
Jesus ya'll are puttin to much thought into it...its a Jimmy Martin song...old school grass. Dwight did it and dwight is a country singer not a bluegrass artist.
Go somewhere else and gripe 46r11. That's why he has sold 25 million records. You probably wear a hearing aid and wouldn't even be able to carry a tune in a bucket LEAVE our site
The band is great ! Dwight is doing what "Dwight" likes and he does covers better than anyone else. He's not trying to be them, just doing the song and having a good time. I loved Dwight and the band on this. :)
And when is the last time you played Bluegrass, other than the radio? Why don't you check out how many records Dwight has sold over the years. GO somewhere else you complainers
He finishes this song up with Miner's Prayer........Beautiful!
I was watching that morning when he was on the Don Imus Show & performed this. It was awesome--- I danced around the room & sang along! This Kentucky Girl is proud of our Dwight.

Nice, Real Nice. Why God in Heaven can’t Country Stations play this kind of music. This is just amazing talent all the way around!!!
He sung and played it to his style. Damn good.
When, oh when will it be over. When will I lay these burdens down? That days coming brother, sister. Don't lose faith. Hold the line till then.
That ol feller to the left is a legend also . Been jamming on Dwight's stuff almost 40yrs now. God Bless

@dukeofearlbanjo Dude where is your banjo solo? Any vid of you on UA-cam? You know the old saying..opionions are like******** everybodys got one.....Just sayin.
Yes, he needs to record a bluegrass album ASAP. He should do some more recordings with Ralph Stanley too, they sound great together.
love the Slingblade reference!
Oh my God! Sacrilege! Next thing you know you'll throw in a saxophone. Dear Jimmy, please forgive Dwight for his sins. Amen. (Naw - just kidding. Nice job - nice variation, slowing it down like that. I'd never seen this before, great video).

You can bet your ass on that

He just can't sit still & sing. He just wanna get up & swing those hips like we know he does it so well
Jesus ya'll are puttin to much thought into it...its a Jimmy Martin song...old school grass. Dwight did it and dwight is a country singer not a bluegrass artist.
Dwight proves once again country has nothing to do with jelly or rolls.
That 5string don't compare to Mr J.D. Crowe
Too bad he didn't bring a real banjo picker.... the rest is great... country music as it's meant to be.
if u like this....try listening to the mashville brigades version....youll be blown away by the way it should be played...
TRichMusic1 Is it on you tube anywhere? if not, could u post it?
Wow, this is horrible....mostly the wannabe banjo solo. What was that?
Oh, lord, you never stop. Find another site, will you
This guy sings flat - he loses the key and then sings through his nose.
46r11 - "this guy" will best you on his worst day.
Go somewhere else and gripe 46r11. That's why he has sold 25 million records. You probably wear a hearing aid and wouldn't even be able to carry a tune in a bucket LEAVE our site
Sings through his nose and also goes flat - pretending to be some-one he;s not.
What's with all you critics. Go somewhere else, and leave our love Dwight site. We don't want you here Thumbs double down on you
yeah, Dwight could have used better bluegrass musicians. Banjo was crappy. Mandolin &bass fair, but Dwight should have picked better guys. mos60
The band is great ! Dwight is doing what "Dwight" likes and he does covers better than anyone else. He's not trying to be them, just doing the song and having a good time. I loved Dwight and the band on this. :)
Bass player at one time was playing with Johnny Cash.
This may be the worst professional attempt at bluegrass EVER
dukeofearlbanjo - just stop before you embarrass yourself.
Too late for that
And when is the last time you played Bluegrass, other than the radio? Why don't you check out how many records Dwight has sold over the years. GO somewhere else you complainers
