I love Fany's voice and her cover is seriously amazing, but I have to say that Lee Hi won. Her voice suits this type of genre, where as Fany's voice is clear and suits pop songs. Just my opinion
Rolling in the Deep has basically two emotional themes running through it. One is sad regret ("we could have had it all") at a relationship with so much potential was squandered. The other is a kind of bitter vengefulness ("don't underestimate the things that I will do"). Both versions bring out these two themes. But I think the tone of Adele's original emphasizes the bitter vengefulness more. Lee Hi's emphasizes the sad regret more, which is why Hi slowed her's down. Both are great!
She can sing pretty well but she lacks the emotion. It's understandable since she is new. I hope she'll turn into an amazing, soulful, and incredible singer. Hats off to the deep and husky voice.
I think people who are looking more at visual emotional cues can come away with that impression (though she does quite well at that considering the format). But, thinking about the lyrics and listening (with a strong emphasis on listening) to the way she phrases each line and vocally expresses the concepts of alternating rage and sad regret...I think her emotional expression is second to none. Even thinking about Adele, I notice that her original rendition focuses so heavily on the rage/anger aspect of the lyrics that she doesn't bring out the regret/sadness aspect as much as Lee Hi did here.
Rolf Senmark agreed. her phrasing is wonderful and her voice is so expressive but because she doesn't pull faces or go crazy with hand movements people think she's lacking confidence or unexpressive.

A lot of singers who are best known for their vocal artistry (e.g. Norah Jones) don't do cartoonish emotional acting in their live performances and express the emotions in their songs mainly through their singing and their fans actually prefer seeing such artists' more nuanced, natural approach to facial expressions in visual terms as well. But, yeah, it is subjective and some people (especially idol fans) need much more fist-clenching, anquished grimaces, brow-wiping, pulsing veins and chest-clutching gestures, not to mention dramatic out-stretched arms and crestfallen head drops and so on to hold their attention. (There is a fairly standard repertoire of idol moves (gestures and expressions) and idol fans tend to be disappointed if they don't get the full menu.) Personally, I don't need the visuals to be at such level--even on TV. But it's a matter of individual taste.

Personally, one of the things (maybe the main thing) that I really like about Lee HI is the artistry she demonstrates in interpreting songs and the variety of nuanced shades of emotion she expresses in each line. I can listen to "Am I Strange?" over and over and catch something new each time. The same with "Dream" and most of her songs.
