  • What is genetic testing? An interview with Dr. Susanna J. Park
    Genetic testing looks into your DNA and can reveal any gene mutations that could cause illness, disease or be restricting your ability to get pregnant altogether.
    In this exclusive interview, Dr. Susanna J. Park explains the uses of genetic testing, the two categories of genetic testing (DNA mutation and chromosome number) and when and why couples should get it done.

    We did genetic testing on our miscarried embryo and regret it. It didn't change anything for us. They told us the embryo had an extra chromosome 7. Got our blood taken to see if one of us is the carrier. This is no reason for the baby to stop growing right? I wanted to know why the baby stopped growing that's all.

      I am sorry to hear this. Genetic testing is not for everyone. I also don't recommend it for everyone.

    testing for MTHFR is also crucial!!! this will be my next step since most of my thyroid testing numbers are great but I still got 2 failed IVFS in the past .

      @@MarcSklarTheFertilityExpert I'm sorry I meant "folate" as methylfolate and 36 mcg folic acid from fermented media, everything in 1 pill/ day - New Chapter 40+ every woman's one daily multi vitamin, I started to take it in Aug 17th, just did my MTFHR now on Nov. 11 and the test still positive. I'm really surprised! I was thinking to go in Dec. for my 3rd IVF 100 % natural since the medicine didn't do much for me on my first 2 IVFS. I don't know what to do, why did it came back "positive" its strange, all my other tests are great, I'm 41 ...going on 42 soon

    Great info! Thank you so much for the video.
    I just did a new set of testing most of them are OK except for my CA-125 which is 47.1, ANTI TPO of 54 and my AST 43. I of have two failed IVF‘s , the first one the embryos were not developed enough and the second which I just had in June together with the transfer I ended up being not pregnant. I am 41& 1/2 years old now
    wondering if those numbers are an issue for fertility. Thank you so! 🙏🏻

      I do think these numbers are a factor with regards to your ability to hold a pregnancy.

    At age 43 my partner had amh 11.6, we done IVF, got 4 eggs, 3 fertilised all got to Day 5 blastocyst, one egg was top grade A, yet none implanted, we questioned the IVF protocol where we never got Progesterone pessaries after transfer, they also started the IVF cycle after period came, they were supposed to give drugs to arrest it, period arried a few days early, however doc said implantation failure was probably the chromosomal due to age. Is this always true?

    How does one prescribe lab panels for immune issues or blot clotting ? None of my Drs (RE, Obgyn, thyroid endocrinologist) think it was necessary. I have hashimoto’s diagnosed after my 6 weeks miscarriage last year. TPO Ab 312, thyroglobulin Ab 166, and TSH is now 2.0. It has been higher the past 12 months. 2 cycles of IVF with frozen PGS normal embryos failed, one didn’t stick, the other resulted in chemical pregnancy. I am now 40.

      doctors can be very tricky and don't tell you the truth all the time . Just do some researches and just demand/ask them to do whatever testing you think it might help. I also had 2 failed IVFS.

    • @serraqual
      @serraqual 4 роки тому +1

      marcel deac , thanks for sharing your thoughts. I did demand but unfortunately, immunology isn’t my RE’s forte. At this time, I am shopping for 2nd opinion, RE / functional doctors who will test and treat immunology. Not many in the Bay Area, CA though 🙁

      @@serraqual oh that sucks, sorry to hear then . I live in NYC so ...plenty here. I also need to see a fertility immunologist ( I had no idea such doctors even exist 🙄), currently I have a reproductive endocrinologist but he seems to be less knowledgeable in some issues that I might have. I might have some antibodies, the ANTI TPO test came back "high" at 54 but he thinks is not high enough in order to attack an embryo, Im still suspicious about so I need a second opinion on this.
