So great that this was posted. 2024 and this still is so amazing and relevant. One of the most amazing Broadway musicals ever. In a class of its own (Sondheim knew that) and timeless as brilliance always is! Thank you Jon and family and friends.
We were there… Nederlander… Today is 18 Nov 2022. RENT will always be a part of my life, relevant, important, fun… I’ve got every cast album, the original grey & black tee shirt, and saw the show 6 times on 2 continents in 4 theatres, with different friends & family. The message WILL ALWAYS RESONATE… We are seeing Adam in a nearby city in Pretty Woman, soon! A huge departure from RENT, but his music is part of us now. Jonathan left such a gift…
Thank you for this... I've never seen this clip before! I've seen Rent 20+ times on national tours, 3 times w/ Anthony and once with Adam, and my bucket list time of seeing it at the Nederlander a few months b4 it closed in 2008 (won the lottery as well, so even more special). Been in love with this show since its debut in 1996, and now in 2023 it's still just as important in my life ( I might have a tattoo as well lol.... and I'll Cover You Reprise might have been played during my wedding lol). I cherish every memory I have around Rent, and Jonathan will always be remembered. ❤
I’ve never seen this before either. I’ve seen the 2005 movie, the 20th anniversary non equity tour, the 2008 final Broadway performance proshot and the 2019 Fox TV special
Rent is such a beautiful show! Without Rent, there would be no Hamilton. But not interviewing Idina is a killjoy. We all didn’t know Maureen would begin her journey to becoming the Queen of Broadway. But if the album idea of popular singers of the day singing the songs came to fruition, it would have been a chart topper.
it’s insane how these major corporations and industries like bloomingdale’s completely missed the point of rent. selling “rent like clothing” or have a big budget hollywood musical is so insulting to jonathan and his work

Do you have any more RENT clips to post on UA-cam?

Yeah it's literally "selling out".

I just hate corporate greed. It’s destroying popular culture as we know it
