I'm the 'Evan' Tom shouts out in the intro to this track. I have a video on my channel talking about mixing this song if you wanna check it out! I actually approach a lot his mixes in a similar way I do Metal mixes; he always has that super aggressive low end, and I use a fair bit of distortion on his voice to give it that edge. There's an appegiator in the middle of this track that I re-amped through a mic'ed up Dual Rectifier to give it a rockier, metal vibe!

Metal and hip hop have more in common with each other then they do other genres.
I would say some EDM too. Dubstep, hardstyle and rawstyle, and some others work well with metal. The artist needs to know what they are doing tho.
I'm 48 years old. Hardcore Megadeth since I was like 13 haha. Totally Pantera. All metal. But Tom? He speaks for me. So I love it. He really speaks my thoughts. And he's talented. We don't have to get stuck in one kind of music that's for sure. Great reaction

Imagine this! He had a National Tour all set up with Falling In Reverse! Dates were all set and I bought tix to 3 different shows in 2 states. The tour ended up being canceled due to somebody's wife in one of the bands being hospitalized with a very high stage of cancer. Sad! Tragic!. The tour never rescheduled. I got refunded for all my tickets and the Tour never happened.. Could u imagine Tom with Falling In Reverse!? OMG I was so ready!

I have a similar background to many of the other comments. I have been a metalhead for over 20 years and have never really been into rap but Tom MacDonald really took me by surprise. He is talented as hell and he speaks pure facts. I respect the hell out of him and Nova and am proud to have been in the HOG army for 3 years now. 💪🔥 Rock/Metal and rap do overlap at times and when it does it's awesome: see Falling In Reverse. 🔥

I like tom because he is real he speaks his mind he tells the truth. his lyrics have purpose and meaning. That's why I like the metal scene, there is so much meaning behind the vast majority of songs in the metal genre. It's not just the sound for me I like to feel connected to the song, sometimes the song speaks to me on a personal note and sometimes I can just connect to the song on an emotional level. Corporate hip hop is just trash with no meaning, keep doing what you do TOM MACDONALD I am loving every minute of it.

I’m a Home Fry, Pentaholic, Jinjer Army, HangOver Gang type of guy. Tom, Nova, and Evan are the most incredible musical and cultural three-person force I think I’ve ever witnessed in my 48 years, and I think that’s why us metal-heads are so down with the resulting music.
By the way, the culture of hip-hop is *EXTREMELY* competitive and hierarchal, it’s naturally divisive, like playing a game of Diplomacy using the Art of War using rhythmic iambic pentameters in the articulation of language and story telling. I don’t think it will ever reflect that of the metal scene because the purpose and drive is entirely different.
I have seen the early days of metal, I've watched the beginnings of rap and the bs music has evolved or de-evolved into since. Tom is the first rap artist that is worthy to this metal head 🤘

Oh, wow, I don't think I would have liked it until a few month ago. Ronnie Radke (and to some extent Corey Taylor) opened my mind to rap and I realize, that after 30 years of mainly listening to metal, rock and punk (some rare exception for certain reggae, country, classical, pop and goth songs) I'm really starting to like some rap artist. I would never have thought so😅
It'd be great to see you react to some of Tom's older videos sometime, like Dear Rappers (the first song of his that blew up), I Hate Hip Hop, or Music Industry. :)
Just to let you know Nova does make videos for other artists based on budget and vibe. Due to her personal health issues she doesn't want to risk it with Covid so Nova stays home. But she has now started to do remote directing. However if there is not a good vibe she also recommends other people that can do her work.

@@TheWolfHunterZ 1) her lungs popped once and air went into her body, and then got trapped in her neck. As she tried to breathe to get oxygen to her bloodstream it was checking her. Because of that she now has 2) asthma 3) she had a kidney infection when covid was going on. She had to reshoot the video for 'I can't sleep' while in pain.
So I am going to be real. If you close your eye's and listen to this song, you can feel Toms Hunger, His Stress, His Heart, His soul, and you can tell he is being real, and not BSing. Being honest is the biggest most powerful free drug right now, and Tom is giving it away like Candy on Halloween. This is why I can't stop listening to this song on REPEAT.

Hip hop is a competitive sport. That's where Hip Hop stands apart from other genres. It's also the most collaborative music as well. Kinda an oxymoron, but that's what makes it so interesting.

Actually disses between rappers and MC's is big part of Rap history and was how beefs were settled. There's a whole subset to hip hop called battle rapping where 2 MC's take turns making short off the top of there head raps and rhyme schemes poking fun at each other. The one who basically punks out the other one 1st wins the battle. Funny thing is most MC's can rap but not all rappers can MC. Takes true skill to battle and be good at it.
