"She" will always remind me of my late wife. She passed away in June of 2009. We were both only 27 yrs old, we had two beautiful daughters together, which I've been raising alone since. My wife used to blare "Dookie" when she'd be cleaning our house and she had the most adorable little dance she'd do. Haha. When "She" came on she'd always stop cleaning, do her little dance and mime the lyrics. When I close my eyes, I can still see her singing along to that song, smiling and giggling. Sigh......it amazes me that even after all these years, I still miss her so much. I've never remarried and I've had 2 relationships of any sort of length. I guess I just can't seem to let go and I feel guilty for loving another. I can't justify being happy with her gone. Damn, I probably sound absolutely crazy right now, it's just that we were high school sweet hearts, we'd been together since we were 15. She was my best friend and this last decade has been the hardest of my life. Im grateful to bands like green day because they remind me of good times with her. Take care all.
You don't sound crazy at all. I am really sorry that you lost your wife. I create/transfer and post these videos for free to help spread a little joy- I hope this helped you as well.
Dude, your not crazy at all. That is the gift andor curse music brings, memories. The fact that 3 chords brings her back to you if not for those 3 and a half minutes is proof of the magic of music. My heart goes out to you brother. May you find happiness again down the road.
Dam this is one nasty set of goodies. I have an origional 39 Smooth on vinal. 1990 I can remember my dad telling me to "turn that shit down' This band changed my life and gotten me through the hardest times.
Haha yeah. Do you ever feel like certain bands are literally the soundtrack to your life and hearing certain songs just takes you back? Not just to what was going on but the hope and dreams or lack thereof you had of the world at the time. Those first albums do that for me. What would my life been like if I hadn't found this band and punk rock?

Africa for Africa, Asia for Asians, White countries for Everyone?! If Gilman Street "anti-racists" are so unconcerned with race, how come they only have a problem with White schools, White workplaces, White towns, White Cites and White countries? I've never seen any "anti-racist" complain that any place is too Brown and it has to become LESS Brown to combat racism. Who do they think they are kidding? Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-White.
@@DontGoToHell what a strange place to confess to the world that your a little tiny baby man. "What about the white people? I got to go to 924 Gilman about a year ago and be apart of Punk Rock Prom, and it's truly a mythical experience. I hope to god all of you get a chance to see a show there someday, Green Day or not.
Getting Paper Lanterns, 2000, Pasalacqua, and Burnout on this brought tears to my eyes. If Church on Sunday was included, for me, it would be perfect. Thank you for this. Nice to see them up close and personal.
Paper Lanterns is a terrible reminder for everyone alive during the Wood Stock's 25th anniversary celebration. Instead of enjoying the music and exposure to mother nature's elements like our parents generation did. Rolling around in the mud, making love and celebrating each others differences and a general acceptance for everyone. This was that generations angst against "The Greatest Generation Ever". Imagine growing up with that over your head! My generation following human nature and fighting against the ones before them, who at the same farm 25 years before started a protest against an organized concert planned by greedy corporations and promoters. My friend has the three day ticket printed on blotter paper under glass he received from his Aunt. It looked brand new and wasn't torn since thousands of people took over the event. The contradiction of greedily profiting off people to experience the very music and freedom that stood against these ideals had to stop. They also needed and wanted to show their message to the world, proving their parents wrong. Something every youth have set out to do in one way or another thru-out time-they actually pulled it off in such a massive way they could have changed it all. Instead, except for a few true hippies, gave it all away except for the drugs. On that farm on those days however, they said to the World and parents "We have taken a gathering originally to profit off our music and suffering, which should be free to be enjoyed by anyone willing to do so. We are denouncing our way's of life taught by generations as right, realizing the lies and seeing both your's and our's. We're disproving every notion of sensationalism you've heard or seen about us. We are setting out to do this taking what is ours from those we think are wrong doers. Collaborated by those you think are wrong doers to prove we CAN peacefully accomplish a massive gathering w/o help from corporations. We harbor no resentment against you as you were born children of war. You're parents fought and died in a war while you were raised under the same belief and fought and died yourselves in a larger war. We see this cycle now for what it is and our war is being fought w/o anyone asking for help. We see fellow friends, brother, sisters and parents die and suffer even if they return. The world is shrinking and the same atrocities continue to happen to our enemies, who today stand on stage our in a field hand to hand with us. Too prove to everyone our way of thinking is not dangerous, that life music and nature are things worth saving rather than bombing we are choosing a different way of thinking and living. Not perfect of course but as humans we will keep trying and failing until it's a universal understanding those called enemies are fellow human beings. In most cases even allies until a tiny percentage decides to call them enemies. Time and time again we are fear-mongered so you can pit us against each other. We are calling B.S. on this cowardly tiny percentage of people, the only few who profit largely from this suffering until the next cycle of lies and manipulation make us forget the previous ones." They used their adolescent angst creating lasting, positive changes. My generations response, live, in front of the World, was starting perhaps the largest mud fight in history. During Green Day's performance of Paper Lanterns a song I'll never forget and upsets me. It marked the end of an era, and the start of nothing. I felt this as a 13 year old and understood that, myself and my parents would never have the power to change the world again. Not like during the first Woodstock. It's sick how they gave it all up and put measures in to assure nothing like that could happen in my, or even the next generations rebelious stage. Though a lot of the positive idealology did stick. Perhaps as a reminder to them the danger of that power. Too use what was learned from it to teach us history's flaws instead. It's too easily forgot when your busy with so many things and on the other side though. If you want to make a change you have to take what's yours. That was lost on everyone after that generation realized certain truths. After giving up they focused on protecting their children and that never changed. A fatal flaw they fought so hard against was sensationalism from news and people who didn't have the fact. Misleading, lying and greed are good so long as you rename them and lie to yourself enough so you can sleep. All this mixed together, along with the arrogance of what they did accomplish and the lie they could change things from within, resulted in the greed and return of all that was fought for morphed and reoccured in the 1980's 10 fold. This was sadly proven when Mike Dirt, clearly a member of the band even my Grandmother along with everyone in the room, was tackled by "Security". He had a gag mask put on before being removed. This was proof they wouldn't let go of what was ours now and the condradictions were thicker than ever. To me, that moment in that song was a statement and warning of things to come. None of it Green Days fault. They've walked two generations or more thru adolesnce and warned us of all this. Hopefully they're music keeps getting listened to by younger audiences so they have a lighthouse full of relevant lyrics, riffs and feelings too follow when lost. Same effect Beatles albums have still, only I can't see where Green Day stopped or fell off.

Maaaan...I first saw these guys at a bar here in Chicago suburbs called McGregors. That was May of '92 and I remember thinking how much I loved bands like Screeching Weasel and The Vindictives, but these Green Day fellas are on a whole different level. Who knew, right?! It's awesome to get to see their "Homecoming" at 924 Gilman. THANK you for your work on this, top shelf quality!
@ 50:42..... I have seen this many times on videos and once at a live show.....I think Jason still has trouble with the intro to “Going to Pasalacqua”... Every time though, Billie encourages him.
I can´t belive they actually played a song off the trilogy in 2015! And that as a start for a show at 924 Gilman, that´s pretty cool. They even changed the key at the end what they only did on very early live performances!
Great video, S! What a blast to the past to see Green Day from that vantage point again. You know it's old-school when no one is wearing eyeshadow and the "Blue" Stratocaster makes an extended appearance from "Welcome to Paradise" all the way to "Basket Case."
I've heard a great deal about this concert... Well, what I can see now thanks to your video is far beyond everything I could've expected ! I'm really grateful :) Who will dare say after watching (and hearing...) this that Green Day doesn't rule, even now, or especially now shall I say, over punk... And these guys aren't resentful at all ! Coming to perform there, peaceful and cheery, after 21 years without being admitted in the place... Is this the starting point, or maybe the completion, of the "full circle [the band] went" dixit Billie the next year ? "breathing air for the first time" he says just at the end of this performance of Christie Road ! Like an overwhelming recognition he wasn't waiting for anymore... Song about was was home to him... This "homecoming", coming back to this home of his heart, that has just acted a precious reconciliation, seems to have participated in a liberation for Billie and consequently for Green Day, for the following years. Probably contributing to the fabulous amount of energy being given on current Revolution Radio tour, and a constantly improving Billie, more particularly on vocals, which I find greater than ever these days. Your 3 cameras are really something. When seeing Billie close-up I'm just immersed in his look and, I see all those very strong emotions together. A hardly-contained happiness, mixed with some deep relief... feverish excitement and quiet attention in one look... my words will never be up to what I feel exactly :')
Fucking love this, was very disappointed seeing how little footage came out from this show, but it seems you weren't allowed to put it up until now? This is gold, thank you so much.
Mikko S right? Despite their current status, it's honestly a surprise to see even Jello like them and give them kudos. I know the Ramones and The Clash liked them. The Sex Pistols (minus Johnny Rotten of course) do too. Mike Ness of Social Distortion also likes them (and he's friends with Billie Joe).
Jello Biafra talking at a Green Day show! That's not something you see every day. Also, it's awesome that they used to old ending to 99 Revolutions! I honestly loved that ending more than the album version.
Setlist: 10:49 -- 99 Revolutions 15:14 -- Holiday 19:24 -- Know Your Enemy 23:50 - Welcome to Paradise 28:12 -- 2000 Light Years Away 31:25 -- Private Ale 36:12 -- Christie Road 40:47 -- Paper Lanterns 44:47 -- Stuart and the Ave. 46:56 -- She 49:58 -- Redundant (Interlude) 50:32 -- Going to Pasalacqua (Vocals start at 50:50) 54:39 -- Only of You 59:10 -- Burnout 1:01:22 -- Longview 1:05:45 -- Basket Case 1:08:50 -- When I Come Around 1:11:51 -- Are We The Waiting 1:15:28 -- St. Jimmy 1:19:57 -- Knowledge (Operation Ivy cover) 1:22:19 -- American Idiot 1:30:23 -- Jesus of Suburbia 1:43:26 -- Minority
well huge props for the mix, it sounds amazing ! the kick, the snare, the toms, the bass, the guitars, the cymbals, it's so well mixed ! congrats ! thanks a lot for sharing that great work
Thanks for this!! I would kill for some of these old/trilogy tunes in this gig on Rev Rad tour regular shows: Stuart and the ave, Private Ale, Only of you, 99 revolutions, 2000 light years away (full song), etc.
knock on wood it never happens, but if the venue ever closes: i hope it becomes a museum of East Bay punk rock featuring Operation Ivy, Rancid, Green Day and all the legacy bands that represented the scene

Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-White.
i miss the days when punk fans didnt say stupid shit like stan
we also stan a supportive wife ! lol
This is awesome thank you for making this!
Imo, they're so much better at small clubs like this then fuckin arenas! Punk is suited for small places.
David Rothkopf thats not true lmao
Nah It sound like shit in clubs NOWADAYS.
@@emfraridades7261 the sound is too polished in clubs these days
Wow they went old school in this set list. I like it
What a pure joy from start to finish. Brings me way back. Funny moment was the dog growl on Longview 1:02:41.
Every time Burnout starts, it gives me the chills m8
Rocky Ian2 Probably one of the best opening tracks to ever be created.
I imagine this was very fun for them.
Best live version of christie road😍
Man, what I would give to have been there. It looks like the best gig Green Day ever played...

“Did Adrienne show up yet?”
God damn.. billie almost cries at the end of jesus of suburbia, that really hit me 😢 greetings from argentina!
mike's bass solo in going to pasalacqua will never get old
Goose bumps when he went into christie road. Epic set list, everyone in attendence got to be part of something special that night for sure.
Oh my god. Green Day is amazing, Jello is amazing, punk rock is amazing
Awesome crowd there at gilman. Thanks for uploading. Greets from Germany
That distortion in the intro to MInority sounded awesome. And so did the accordion.
I wish they would play 99 Revolutions again!! That is an amazing song!!!
I want this back in my life
Классное выступление! Повезло же вам, ребята, там побывать.Был на концерте в Питере в 2014 году.
I feel like this was the best two hours of my life, and I wasn’t even there. 💚🎶
Jello Biafra looks goddamn fantastic!
"we're just waiting for the bassist" = literally me at every concert/show
What I would give to have witnessed such an intimate Green Day show like this.
there's just no way to describe how awesome this is!
Shout out to the madman who stole the microphone at the end of holiday
Wonder what he’s up to today.
A hardly-contained happiness, mixed with some deep relief... feverish excitement and quiet attention in one look... my words will never be up to what I feel exactly :')
no
Nice to see Mike from the Enemies on stage with Green Day. Another Cinder Block alumni. I miss my friends.
Fucking love this, was very disappointed seeing how little footage came out from this show, but it seems you weren't allowed to put it up until now? This is gold, thank you so much.
This is some of billie’s best live guitar for sure
Wow - I haven't seen a pit like that since the 90s 😍
The headbang during Paradise, omg
I hope I can visit this place when I am older.
Its awesome Tim got his old guitar moves back just like the last time he play here with Op ivy!
Green day is my favorit band
Fantastic. Wish I'd seen this. Green Day will always be the best gig I ever saw.
The time between when they first stepped on stage and when they first started playing was the most awkward footage of Green Day I've ever seen.
Punk Player94 have you seen their old shows from 1990? haha
46:07 that riff from Stuart and The Ave. gave me chill
Holy shit I didn't know Jello was a Green Day fan. It's weird to know there's an old school punk who doesn't hate them
Jello has been to a foxboro hot tubs show before!
All great punk musicians love them (Bob Mould, Paul Westerberg, Bill Stevenson etc). Only old school punk FANS hate them.
Yep. Can I ask you, what are your favourite punk albums?
hungryteens there are a lot of punk rocks that like Green Day
Jello Biafra talking at a Green Day show! That's not something you see every day.
Also, it's awesome that they used to old ending to 99 Revolutions! I honestly loved that ending more than the album version.
Did adrienne show up yet? IM HERE!!!! oh hi, how are you? we can start now!! I DIED LOL
I love them!!!!!!!!!
going to pasalacqua is one of my absolute favorites by green day. wish they’d play it more
JELLO BIAFRA?????? that's awesome! ive always wanted to see green day and jello biafra in the same room
Billie Joe, the kind of guy to wear two jackets in California
Fourth Fusion same in LOUISIANA
The bay area is cold
@@not_jt It actually is rather cold.

1:08:51 What does Jason say?
something like 'this is mike pelino's favourite song'
Awesomeness...thanks for uploading from Denmark
I would give everything to be in one of this close up personal - Classic songs Shows!!! So awesome
1:34:47 What the hell happened to Jason there!?
Windston hahahahahaha, no idea but it looked pretty funny
Someone grabbed his leg and down he went .. hahah.
LMFAO
"No Stagediving" What a joke!
Just insurance lol, everyone dives at Gilman for any band has it
Remember dimebag? That's why...
@@Mr.SeymourButts So Tru...some dumb fuck stage dived and his gun went off multiple times, at least we still have 924 Gilman!
Sooo many venues have signs like that but really don't give a shit.
It hopefully absolves any club from liability.
knock on wood it never happens, but if the venue ever closes: i hope it becomes a museum of East Bay punk rock featuring Operation Ivy, Rancid, Green Day and all the legacy bands that represented the scene
