- Taking advantage of the fact that this entire stretch is really just one very long platform. Enjoy =)

This is Chicago’s version of the subway. There are about 9 stations that are underground and when the train travels back into the suburbs it goes above ground again or is elevated
You can literally walk to the next station from the platform
Best door chime ever
Personally I’d say the NYCT door comes are better (i.e R46-R179)
@@zeenoz7567 R46-68 have a different chime than the new tech (R142-179). Both are 2 tone, but the latter is higher pitched and quicker.

TTC of Toronto IMO is the Best
It's like playing Train Simulator again with CTA 5000s
Awesome video!! I rember being here last June. It was cool. Awesome video!
If i saw you, i would give you a horn salute to show appreciation of these videos.
You call that a horn.
Glorified beeping more like it.
Are you an operator?
Cta train they still are so cute
They look small when you seen them closer on CTA property
The Transit Fan of Chicago okay CTA subway trains too 👍
@@thetransitfanofchicago1718 they're only 48' so of course they're small
I always thought in videos, these trains look tiny and as tall as me. lol and the train do be shaking doe. 2:32
Definitely quite interesting.. nice video!
Longest subway platform in the world
I know right. It's crazy that one platform ran through multiple stations
William Wang It’s really weird how you could just walk through multiple stations.
Unbelievable, I've seen it one the official RFW videos
The VVVF sounds nice
The propulsion sounds a little like an R179 and R160B were combined
ZeenozPlays ikr from mta
BOMBARDIER did both this and the 179
All 3 models use MITRAC propulsion.
@@blue9multimediagroup R160s use either Alstom (Onix) or Siemens (SITRAC) propulsion, the latter only applying to 8843-9102. All cars with the latter propulsion are R160Bs, but not all R160Bs have it.
please , why many metro stations have the same platform? ( google translation) .thank you from france
I don`t understand..., there are two subway lines in that station??, one stops at the end and the other at the start of the station???
I don't understand your question. There's only one line that runs through this set of stations that share this long platform; the Red line.
hmmm...., so..., what is a "set of stations"?, 2-3 stations in one??
In the CTA redline subway, this section shows one of the longest platforms in the world and it is composed of three separate station stops. Jackson, Monroe and Lake streets located in the heart of downtown Chicago. The trains stop three times but the stops are about 600-1000 feet a part from each other.

@@GTSCommander There was a fourth station, Washington, between Lake and Monroe. If i'm correct, Washington was taken out of service because there was supposed to be an underground track connection between the RED and BLUE line subways. It never happened though. There used to be a pedestrian transfer tunnel between Red and Blue lines at Washington in the middle of the platform. There still is one at Jackson.
And all under State Street
Is that armchair still down there in the old Washington station?
Wut I'm confused
Why does the train stop twice on one platform?
Because it’s the longest platform and there’s is like 3 stations in the same platform
Or 2 stations idk
No there is 3
I haven't been to Chicago yet though but this propulsion sounds great.
Sounds way cooler than NYCs R142 Bombardiers.
Icy Cool 3
Why do these trains slow down each second?
Be cause Chicago had the plan to have the stations close together as a subway in the downtown area
Perhaps only the operator controls the console and the doors, or OPTO -- One Person Train Operator
CTA used to be two person operator - conductor operated the doors from a car in the middle of the train. Now it is one person operation
I haven't been to Chicago yet though but this propulsion sounds great.
Sounds way cooler than NYCs R142 Bombardiers.
Looks like they need a rehab
Yep.....It's hard to believe that most of the 5000 series are coming up on ten years old. So their "mid-life" rehab/overhauls are right around the corner. I remember riding these when they were brand new.
@@TheChicagoL *quarter life. They're built to last 30-40 years, maybe more.
Nah, they’re less than 10 years old. They should last an additional 10 years before needing a refurbishment.
