"I'm a Singer" This is not "The Voice", it's a competition of already known and talented singers.Adding that the organizers keep secret the names of the participants - quite famous singers. Dimash was the youngest of them. Its organizers invited him themselves.Dimash sang "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" in the competition he was supposed to sing first. There were eight singers, it will go on to seven. Dimash passed. Each day, one participant receives a cup and one leaves the project. There are 14 cups in total. This means that you have to take part in 14 turns. The winner is the one who receives the most cups. New singers join along the way.The peculiarity of the project is that the cameras in real mode observe your every move, film how you eat, how you behave In 2017, Dimash's competitors were very strong, experienced singers, multiple winners of the "China Music World", "M T V Awards" and others. The peculiarity of this show is that the singer is not limited to performing the song on stage, he is constantly under real-time supervision.The main requirements for the singer in the project "I am a Singer": 1. A singer must win the hearts of the audience. 2. He has to show his new face every time. 3. To perform in a new style, in a new genre. 4. Sing Live. The winner in each round is selected by 500 spectators aged 20-60 sitting in the hall. Each viewer has the right to vote for three singers. These 500 viewers no longer vote in other rounds. In each turn, the singers receive a total of 1,500 votes. In the first round, Dimash received 78% of the votes, ie 1170 votes out of 1500 !!!After January 21, they lost the possibility of a "normal" walk in China! He is 22 there, and he's been studying singing since he was 5 (and he'll be 28 in May). Dimash still practices singing, for 3 hours on a daily basis, by his own words. You can try to find a better vocalist than him, but I don't think there is one. So far, he's been singing in 13 languages in versatile genres (and nails everything, from opera to rap), has an insane vocal range (7 octaves), plays multiple instruments, composes, and brings so much emotion into his performances, draws us in like a magician, which is one of the most important things. He speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, and is still learning English, getting better at it every day. He is currenly in Russia, as the latest news suggest (and was for months in China before that). His opus is so versatile, and you will be amazed every time. For the next reactions, I recommend Sinful Passion, Stranger and Be With Me. All totally different.
But he should train some more before singing another song in French. Altough I know this song by heart and sing it myself, I couldn't understand any of the words. He should have sticked to the English version, adapted by Tim Rice from the original (by Berger and Plamondon) for the British then American version of the musical, originaly titled "Starmania" and renamed "Tycoon" with lead-singer Peter Kingsbery (former singer of Cock Robbin).
After all these years of Dimash singing and arguably the best singer in the world, it's amazing how so few people have never even heard of him. I have been on the Dimash journey for 4 years and I just never get bored listening to him. He just gets better and better. Welcome to the Dimash journey!

Yep in this performance he was 22. He was invited to take part in this competition called the singer. All participants are well established singers. The audience all involved in music are the judges, they decide who goes thru to next round. This was Dimash's 1st foray away from home. No English, no chinese at that time. Sings in 13 languages, spks 4 or 5, plays 7 instruments. At 3 he was pitch perfect. 1st public performance at 5. An amazing young man very humble and generous.
Dimash is fluent in Kazakh and Russian. He has a conversational mastery of English. His English has improved dramatically since his concert at Barclays Center in NYC in 2019, and, by his own assessment, he currently has only a rudimentary knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. As he told the other brothers during the recent taping of Shine! Brothers, he finds Chinese to be a very difficult language to learn.

The world discoverd Dimash because the Chinese lived him so much, they posted about him, and we were lucky enough to ck e across him. Yes in the competition, worlds best , he withdrew, he had asked if children were participating and he was told No they were not involved. That is why he agreed to take part I the first place. - I so admired him when he withdrew, having fulfilled his part by singing the song, and only after that - he said very politely that he asked to withdraw. And that he stood up to the judge that was very aggressive toward him. I loved the look he threw at the judge who was extremely rude. Dimash actually asked if children were involved, he was assured there wud b no children. That is why he agreed to participate.

Being bored, surfing on internet for a voice that can capture me for more than two songs (that was my problem for half a century on this planet...in the first two notes I could predict where a singer goes with his song....and then I am bored) I discovered him singing this song and I was Dimashified.Then I discovered what a fantastic and humble person he is and the love he has for his country for his family and his Dears. Then I became a true and loyal Dear. So I am a Dear since 2017. I do not agree with all the choices he made and that is understandable because people has their own taste. Welcome to Deardom! This was fun to watch. Dimash was the first singer on the first episode of the show. He WOWED everyone with this performance. He became an overnight sensation and blew up in China and on UA-cam! I discovered him just a week later when he covered Vitas' song Opera 2. 😂 Btw, all of those contestants are professional singers/performers. The Singer is a show for only established artists and Dimash was invited as a Wild Card, because he was just starting his career in Kazakhstan. This performance was in 2017 in China where he was unknown, and was invited to fill a spare spot just before the comp started, and not being Chinese was not expected to last past the first night, but was put on first, and broke Chinese internet with 600 million overnight views. The judges were the audience, and were musically and artistically educated teachers, advanced and successful singers and musicians, but all were Chinese. Dimash won some nights and scored great, but because the prize included being an ambassador for their music for a year, and he was just starting to learn Mandarin, they made him runnerup. He stayed on singing everywhere in China and some in Russia getting many awards and interviews over about 3.5 years, and this all made him an international star.

It is incredibly beautiful. He speaks fluent Kazakh, native tongue as well as Russian and his English is darn good. However, he has now performed in up to 13 languages. This was an enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. I believe he was around 22 at the time (wasn't that from 2017?). I'm a new subscriber who is excited to accompany you on your journey of discovery of Dimash. He's the best vocalist of our time, and is quite innovative in what can be done with the human voice. It will take you many of his songs to "get" Dimash as he sings different genres, in different languages, and is able to make the audience feel different emotions. I'm jealous of you knowing all of the masterpieces you'll be discovering. But I've seen too many singer/reactors who just got depressed reacting to Dimash. The way to handle it is to get inspired about what's possible instead of comparing oneself to him. He's a once in a lifetime singer, and he is called an "alien/extra terrestrial" for a reason (beside the fact that he's one of the few who can sing the "Diva Dance" from The 5th Element movie!). Great reaction!! 👍 The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to start his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4. Dimash started Vocal training at the Age of 5, he is University trained in Classical and Contemporary Music, he's 27 years old now and still trains everyday, now imagine training for 22 years every single day or almost every single day. Most singers today, just trains up to a certain point and then figure that they're good enough and don't need to continue with training.

This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. He has held many solo concerts around the world. His training was in-depth and stringent since age 5 and I am certain like any sport it takes work to be as perfect as Dimash is. He is 22 there, and he's been studying singing since he was 5 (and he'll be 28 in May). Dimash still practices singing, for 3 hours on a daily basis, by his own words. You can try to find a better vocalist than him, but I don't think there is one. So far, he's been singing in 13 languages in versatile genres (and nails everything, from opera to rap), has an insane vocal range (7 octaves), plays multiple instruments, composes, and brings so much emotion into his performances, draws us in like a magician, which is one of the most important things. He speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, and is still learning English, getting better at it every day. He is currenly in Russia, as the latest news suggest (and was for months in China before that). His opus is so versatile, and you will be amazed every time. For the next reactions, I recommend Sinful Passion, Stranger and Be With Me. All totally different.

Although I'm a bit surprised that as a music producer you are only now getting around to reacting to Dimash, I am incredibly glad and thankful that you are! Yep in this performance he was 22. He was invited to take part in this competition called the singer. All participants are well established singers. The audience all involved in music are the judges, they decide who goes thru to next round. This was Dimash's 1st foray away from home. No English, no chinese at that time. Sings in 13 languages, spks 4 or 5, plays 7 instruments. At 3 he was pitch perfect. 1st public performance at 5. An amazing young man very humble and generous.
Dimash is fluent in Kazakh and Russian. He has a conversational mastery of English. His English has improved dramatically since his concert at Barclays Center in NYC in 2019, and, by his own assessment, he currently has only a rudimentary knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. As he told the other brothers during the recent taping of Shine! Brothers, he finds Chinese to be a very difficult language to learn.

Yes in the competition, worlds best , he withdrew, he had asked if children were participating and he was told No they were not involved. That is why he agreed to take part I the first place. - I so admired him when he withdrew, having fulfilled his part by singing the song, and only after that - he said very politely that he asked to withdraw. And that he stood up to the judge that was very aggressive toward him.
I loved the look he threw at the judge who was extremely rude. Dimash actually asked if children were involved, he was assured there wud b no children. That is why he agreed to participate.

Being bored, surfing on internet for a voice that can capture me for more than two songs (that was my problem for half a century on this planet...in the first two notes I could predict where a singer goes with his song....and then I am bored) I discovered him singing this song and I was Dimashified.Then I discovered what a fantastic and humble person he is and the love he has for his country for his family and his Dears. Then I became a true and loyal Dear. So I am a Dear since 2017. I do not agree with all the choices he made and that is understandable because people has their own taste. But he made those choices because he can do literally anything with his voice and by doing so he is experimenting and expressing his emotions and feelings....not because he is not capable. Since 2017 his voice matured so much and he has an even bigger range. Do yourself a favor and dive into Dimash. There are so so much to discover.

Welcome to Deardom! This was fun to watch. Dimash was the first singer on the first episode of the show. He WOWED everyone with this performance. He became an overnight sensation and blew up in China and on UA-cam! I discovered him just a week later when he covered Vitas' song Opera 2. 😂
Btw, all of those contestants are professional singers/performers. The Singer is a show for only established artists and Dimash was invited as a Wild Card, because he was just starting his career in Kazakhstan. He was the first foreigner invited to participate and the youngest at the time. ❤ They also made the mistake of having him go first! 😂🤣

This performance was in 2017 in China where he was unknown, and was invited to fill a spare spot just before the comp started, and not being Chinese was not expected to last past the first night, but was put on first, and broke Chinese internet with 600 million overnight views.
The judges were the audience, and were musically and artistically educated teachers, advanced and successful singers and musicians, but all were Chinese.
Dimash won some nights and scored great, but because the prize included being an ambassador for their music for a year, and he was just starting to learn Mandarin, they made him runnerup.
He stayed on singing everywhere in China and some in Russia getting many awards and interviews over about 3.5 years, and this all made him an international star.

This was an enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week.
At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.

I believe he was around 22 at the time (wasn't that from 2017?). I'm a new subscriber who is excited to accompany you on your journey of discovery of Dimash. He's the best vocalist of our time, and is quite innovative in what can be done with the human voice. It will take you many of his songs to "get" Dimash as he sings different genres, in different languages, and is able to make the audience feel different emotions. I'm jealous of you knowing all of the masterpieces you'll be discovering. But I've seen too many singer/reactors who just got depressed reacting to Dimash. The way to handle it is to get inspired about what's possible instead of comparing oneself to him. He's a once in a lifetime singer, and he is called an "alien/extra terrestrial" for a reason (beside the fact that he's one of the few who can sing the "Diva Dance" from The 5th Element movie!). Great reaction!! 👍 The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to start his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4.

Он сам, очень давно (еще до ажиотажа), говорил, что активно и комфортно работающих у него 5,5 октав, в остальные иногда. Но мне кажется, что активных стало уже 6 октав.

Dimash started Vocal training at the Age of 5, he is University trained in Classical and Contemporary Music, he's 27 years old now and still trains everyday, now imagine training for 22 years every single day or almost every single day. Most singers today, just trains up to a certain point and then figure that they're good enough and don't need to continue with training.
His range is insane, but I think his technique is much more impressive. But the most important is how he touches us with his angelic voice.

This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

This performance was the very first on The Singer 2017. He was the only non Chinese competing so he had to go first. You will see how much he has developed since becoming famous in China. He has held many solo concerts around the world. His training was in-depth and stringent since age 5 and I am certain like any sport it takes work to be as perfect as Dimash is. Now at 27, he has reached the hearts of millions of people around the globe. He calls his fans Dears. He is such a talented, respectful, humble, family oriented young man that you can’t help but love him. He’s like no other. You never know what to expect.
