He may be sick of love songs, but we’re sick of the lies Ne-Yo! And his ex fiance,
Monyetta Shaw, is still wishing that she had never gotten her tubes tied. NeYo is a man of many talents. Grammy award winning songwriter, producer, singer, and overall musician responsible for some of the biggest hits to have ever hit airwaves. His smooth distinct vocals topped with his sultry lyrics and signature fedora hat, concocted the known r&b suave aesthetic that we’ve come to know and love over the years, but what you see is not always what you get. Supposedly this was the case for NeYo’s ex fiance, Monyetta Shaw when the two had become engaged in 2010 and shortly after Monyetta had given birth to their first child with another soon on the way.
I think this was damaging to his solo career. It’s hard to market yourself as a gentleman or a good man when you’re doing dirt at someone’s expense. It definitely made me look at him in a different light.
After this I really didn't care for him like that anymore he was wrong for doing her that way

When I heard about him telling her to tie her tubes and then married another woman, I stopped listening to anything he had and was going to put out. I don’t listen to him at all. Women, please, unless you are married to a man, do not give yourself to them intimately because it will cost you more then you know.

Baby , married twice. Men always put themselves first regardless of how you’re feelings. Marriage doesn’t make a man stop cheating, or treat you better most believe just because you’re his wife he come home to you. Marriage both times we’re terrible. Lost my virginity to my first one he told me it didn’t mean shit. Second one used my for a green card neither of them take care of their children after divorce.

Monyetta helped us all to learn a salient lesson that men haven't changed much in the last 50 yrs. They will take it if u giving it up, but they'll leave u and ur heart.

No woman should change her body in any way at the urging of a man…or anyone for that matter. These decisions should be made for self by self because that’s the only one who has to live with it forever. If a man doesn’t want anymore kids, him getting a vasectomy would be the logical decision 🤷🏽♀️

I was waiting for some accountability on her end! She placed blind faith in this man, and made this life altering decision based on that faith! At the time they agreed to have this permanent procedure, she obviously felt she didn’t want more children. While I’m certain the realization of what she’d done was painful, it was still her final decision and her choice! I’m a bit perplexed by the level of pain she suffered due to her decision, but meanwhile she still has two children! Don’t mean to seem insensitive but when did she have time to dwell on her decision while caring for two small children?? She must’ve been exhausted! After having two children relatively close in age, and going through possible postpartum, the relationship ending was probably the worst of her pain! Terrible situation, and definitely a cautionary tale!😳🤔

Look is not the end of road if you have your tubes tied. I got mine done when I was 24 after my second child was born at the time my children father did come a decision for me to have them tied. I did agree to do the procedure. Of course my relationship with my children father didn’t last, of course I wasn’t worry about having anymore I had a girl and a boy I felt I was good. But I did start to think of I had married and my husband didn’t have any children would that be fair to my husband. I did meet some who didn’t have children and at the time my children was grown my husband wanted children so we did IVF and I got pregnant and had a beautiful 9.1 baby boy at the age of 46. So it’s not all is lost for Monyetta and her husband.
I heard this story years ago and still get that sour taste in my mouth as I did years ago, she trusted the man she loved too much to the point she made a permanent decision based on what she thought was a mutual decision. There is a chance marriage and love doesnt last forever and all she can do now is be happy, find that peace and live for herself and her kids.
She can get her tubes untied..... my sister did when she was almost 40 trying to keep her husband and he still always cheated...... she had two babies back-to-back and almost died......SMH

I got to know Monyetta when she was on that reality show... She was so sweet and watching her get emotional about the tube tying situation made me not like Neyo. She was way too good for him.

Obviously she wasn't too good for him she didn't hold him down and has a husband all of you people sitting up here feeling sorry for their woman when you don't really know what going going on in that relationship except for what this woman puts out in the public. You can't fault a man for not wanting to marry a woman he knows he's not going to be happy with I wouldn't want a woman to marry me if I'm not going to make her happy if she's not going to make me happy I just couldn't sit there and act like I'm supposed to be with this person even though I make them unhappy. To me she just another Emily fabulous didn't claim Emily and I think they are riding in the same boat because if you were such a good woman how do you end up on the reality shows that's what I'm saying this man, Neil knew what kind of woman he was dealing with I'm going to say he knew she was a better woman who would end up on on these realities show type things airing out their public business for sympathy. So kudos to neo for seeing straight through this woman and sending her back to the streets.

@@ladyk1687 it wasn't about "a ring". It's about marriage, the commitment, the "WE" are making a decision about OUR lives as husband and wife. Not, me going and having my tubes tied because my boyfriend doesn't want to have anymore kids. True, the same results could have happened, but marriage is the ultimate commitment, it's sort of like a security blanket, so to speak, that the relationship is going to last. Without marriage, you're still single and should conduct yourself accordingly. So, again, ain't no way "I" would have done that without being married unless "I" didn't want anymore kids period, whether it was with him or another man that might marry me in the future, but it doesn't seem that that's the case in this story. It seems that it was his idea, that HE didn't want anymore kids and she went along with it because she thought they would get married some day or be together forever without marriage, which does work for some, but, yeah, no.

I always had negative vibes about Neyo. I now see the vibes were accurate. Yes I believe it was a mutual decision and he was very slick about making sure he could move on and cut his loses (child support) at two children. I also believe the current wife was a major contributing factor. This is why only women should make major decisions about their bodies. NOT MEN IN ANY ECHELON!
If he changed his mind fine. But that was so selfish of him to let her get her tubes tied. I think that might be one of the most selfish things I've ever heard. I never looked at him the same and honestly lost respect for him. He changed the course of her life with his dishonesty and I don't think I ever forgave him for that. And I think a lot of women felt that way. His career took a HUGE dive after that as well because most of his fans were women.
Yes, seems as though Monyetta missed the largest 🚩, which was, he did not marry & pledge his love & committment to her in the 1st place. So it would be difficult to bank on subsequent matters being solid.
It has also been rumored that Neyo ask Monyetta for a paternity test after their first child was born. And that he convinced Monyetta to have threesomes. I don't know how true it is but the fact that Neyo and Krystal have broken up and considered divorce a few times really speaks volumes.

Had my tubes REMOVED bc my ex and I were CERTAIN we didn't want any children(we each have our own but none together).... even right after the surgery, while still together, I regretted it. Of course now an ex, I had to take responsibility for putting so much into another person and the words they said to me. Hard lesson to learn!

I think there is a lesson here for all women to learn here.. DO NOT ever as a girl friend or fiance do wifely duties. Getting your tubes tied is a decision made by a husband and wife. She could have said no, she could have taken pills instead of making that decision to please him. This is not all Neyo's fault. We women need to learn that we don't have to bend ourselves out of shape for a man. As someone else comment they can be untied if they weren't burned or clamped. Their are women who have gotten pregnant after getting their tubes tied, also she said she's scared to go to the doctor to find out if anything can be done. For some people after 18 years your tubes can grow back or come undone after 18 years . I know somebody it happened to as soon as they only child hit 18 they turned up pregnant . I was disappointed for her because her child had just turn 18 so anything is possible plus she can always get a surrogate if she truly want other child with her husband

Yeah I have always felt bad for Monyetta when it came to this situation. But she can still get her tubes untied and try to have children with her new husband if she she chooses to go that route. But you never know, her and her new husband may not want children. She already has 2 from Neyo and her new husband has 1 already from his previous relationship, as well.
True; however, it usually depends upon which type of tubal ligation she had-tied or burned.
Unfortunately now a days some doctors remove the entire tube. If you don’t specify to keep your tube and just partial cut or burn then they will remove it completely. I don’t understand it myself and I work in surgery. I refuse to get a tubal due to certain practice because it can’t be reversed.

Doctor said 1 out of 5 women have experienced this. It is highly unlikely and rare but can happen. But either way it goes, I hope she finds peace with whatever the results are.

I feel terrible for her. She was definitely jilted. However, with her having gone through her second pregnancy alone, she should have had another sitdown discussion with him. And a long talk with the doctor to discuss all options before making such a permanent decision about her body. Signs were there prior to her procedure. It’s sad however

I think she did it because she thought it was what he wanted, she loved him very strongly, and thought they’d be together for ever. Nothing wrong with loving someone strongly but one must love the right one because things like this unfortunately happens and the person who’s really responsible never gets blamed. I believe her and I think it was awful for him to even suggest she get her tubes tied right after she gave birth. That wasn’t the time to make that decision; he should’ve waited and sat down with her normally and talked about it. I just hope everything works out for her and that she’s happy with whoever she’s with now despite not being have children with him and I hope he loves her unconditionally despite her not being able to give him children.
It was what he wanted. She should have said you get a vasectomy my body has been through enough. It's usually men getting other women pregnant so it should have been him getting the procedure if he really was serious about not having more children.

Still doesn’t make what he did to her (especially after she gave him his first 2 children) right though.

@@jordangardner8078 I've had the same procedure there is a newer surgery to fix it with an 85 percent success rate a doctor in Los Angeles does the surgery.

She can get invitro. I had a coworker who had her tubes tied after two kids. Years later, she married someone else, and he wanted children. She got invitro, and they had triplets.
I got my tubes tied years ago, and while I have never regretted my decision because I was done having kids, I do wish I had known the side effects. First, it was a very painful healing process, and I would not recommend having it done immediately following birth. I did it that way and felt like it was too much body trauma; it took me weeks to heal. Second, it took years for my body to reestablish a balance. My hormones, cycle, and skin were out of wack for several years following the procedure.
I don't condone what he did but one can't blame him totally. When a man doesn't want to commit, it's apparent. He did not marry her. Women often ignore the tale, tale signs. Get the ring and then have the children. This is one of the biggest mistake black woman make. I know I'm not supposed to say that out loud, but don't our children deserve better? I wish her luck.

No it’s not mutual any longer when that person start showing signs they not trying to be with you any longer. He barely made it to the hospital and wasn’t there most of the pregnancy. She kept her word but with something so drastic she should’ve made sure they were still on the same page. The fact that her doctors were shocked and asked her multiple times it tells me it wasn’t planned with the docs and more of a spare of the moment to make him happy and stay since he came for the birth. She simply tried to make him happy and give him all he asked for. But sometimes men do that to see how low you would go. It determines how he values you and your strength. Her getting her tubes tied had nothing to do with loving him. It’s a control mechanism that narcissistic men use.
My husband and all the husbands in our couple friend groups have gotten vasectomies after 2 children because it is easier for men...five to 10 minute surgery at best. None of the wives did. Also it is easier to reverse a vasectomy than a tubal ligation. Though if a woman is having a tubal ligation it is best to get it right after childbirth. This whole story makes Neyo come across as an evil, manipulative narc.

She dodged a big bullet, even though I am sure she hurt like hell. There are always red flags; and his asking her to get her tubes tied may have been the way for Neo to ease out of their relationship. If he had not married her by the time she became pregnant with their first child, chances are he had no intention of marrying her. On the other hand his blossoming career and temptations he faced while out on the road could have doomed their love. I definitely believe that his dishonesty with Monyetta hurt his career bigtime. He was blowing up! Anyhow, Monyetta has a new life, a fine new man (not a boy), and two beautiful kids.
She should check with her doctor or a specialist because there is a reversal procedure. There are new advances for female reproduction. Also, prayer is always the best medicine. She is also blessed to have her two beautiful children and with the medical advances she can still have hope. She’s blessed because she have to waste time with him anymore because apparently he didn’t seem to truly love her. I pray also that she will be blessed with true love and God’s best for her and her family’s life. She seems like a beautiful young lady who deserves to be treated like a queen.

If you get your tubes tied for a boyfriend (not even a husband) that’s on you…… If he was going to get a vasectomy why would you even need to get your tubes tied? Doesn’t add up. Never heard this til recently, so clearly Neyo wasn't that high on my radar. However, I'm surprised by how confident so many people speak to other people's situations without empathy and compassion. We can all be fools in love. And if you disagree just keep living if you're so blessed. In truth, we're really not taught how to have good relationships. We're mostly given a dos and don'ts list that isn't always clear and consistent with matters of the heart. Most move through life learning by mistakes or anecdotally learning through the mistakes of others. Hind sight is always 20/20. We cannot see the future so most people do their best to make decisions based on what appears to be before them at a given time. With love.....if you're really in love.....you are vulnerable because you can't love someone and have a healthy relationship without moments of surrendering to trust. So it comes down to the motives and character of both persons in the relationship. We all know when we've mistreated, misled, used, abused, or even betrayed someone. In this case it seems Neyo will have to come to terms with how he led or misled this young woman in their relationship. That ultimately is between the two of them. That will only happen if that's who he is in the spiritual place. But God sees the tears of His broken hearted children and responds according to His will. It appears Monyetta has been favored because she's not only married, but married to a man who loves her irrespective of her current ability to bear children. If it is in God's will and it is their specific desire as a couple, additional children will be brought into their union one way or another. Wishing the best. Maybe the lesson shouldn't be limited to pointing fingers at her for a poor decision in a given moment that she probably couldn't realize fully at the time. I'd sure love to see more men of honor.
