Morgan Le Fay as portrayed by Katie McGrath in BBC's 2008 series Merlin. This video is for entertainment purposes only. No copyright infringement intended.
The scariest thing in this story was how the kindest person who didn't stop doing anything in her power to save people turned into a power hungry person who didn't care who she killed to get what she wanted..
Do you hate the monster or do you hate the one who made the monster became a monster? We all know that Morgana suffered a lot, yes, Merlin did too, but he had his mother, Gaius, Lancelot and others who accepted him and helped him with his magic. What if he only had someone like Morgause?
An excellent question. Who made Morgause a monster? Having suffered her influence, Morgana then made Mordred and... It's a never-ending cycle of pain, hate and violence.
True I believe she and everyone has to take some responsibility for their actions but there is no denying what led her to be so hateful was people betraying and lying and treating her horribly
Morgana's suffering is nowhere near most other characters, Lancelot, Gwaine, Gwen, Merlin, even Gaius. she had evil in her from the start, she just didn't know it back then, easily corruptible.
Honestly, everyone made mistakes when it came to Morgana, but this is even more heartbreaking when you realize that the first person to let Morgana down was Gaius, whom she trusted as a father figure, because he refused to acknowledge that she had any type of magic. While he was trying to protect her, he stole from her the opportunity to have a safe place, a true father figure/mentor, and an advocate in the dangerous court of Uther. Why couldn't he have taught/guided her the same way he did with Merlin? Everyone was so convinced that she was the villain, they made her become one. I mean, for the most part everything was fine until Morgana went dark.
She was never an evil person but they mad her evil if it werent for uther and her half sister she never would've turned out to be like this... if uther had raised them like magic was evil and disgusting she would've never had this conflict with herself in the first place ...
When merlin poisoned Morgana in season 2 episode 12. Everything changed including her heart. She felt betrayed, lost and heartbroken. Morgouse in that episode. Never wanted to hurt anyone besides urther. Her purpose was to kill Urther. And make a world a better place. If merlin didn't poison Morgana. Morgana, merlin, morgouse, Arthur, gwen, Gaius would all be in a alliance
Nah, Morgause is an evil witch who corrupted Morgana. She would never join forces with Merlin and Gaius, and if Morgana never met her at all, she would still be good.
If Morgause was smart (and authors are positioning her like that for us), then she should have understood that the problem is not only in Uther and killing him will not solve anything. After such an act, magicians will only become more hated and a new wave of Purge will begin. So no - she would have killed Uther and his entourage, at best would have planted the knights, and after removing the spell, she would have put forward an ultimatum to the inhabitants - either me or death from my immortal knights.
Katie understood the character better than the writers did. I mean the show rly just shitted on morgana a lot and had no real reason for her to be a villain other than it was aCcUrAtE well, fine, but then don’t make that whole arc OFF SCREEN and return a villain IT DOES. NOT. WORK.
Its actually not her fault she was evil. I mean, Gauis and Merlin both scared her when they told her about magic and Uther banned magic from the whole of Camelot, so she choose to keep all of her powers in secret, untill one day, she couldn't stand it anymore and turned bad. Because on one side Merlin and Gauis were using their magic for good but her sister was using magic for bad. So, she was probably very confused. She is one of the most complicated characters throughout the series!
I think the same way. In this (to me: strange) BBC series Merlin (too young!) and that Gaius (never heared of him) are the true evil ones. And that is the matter why (in this series, I always have to add) Morgaine turnes that evil way!
I think the fandom glamourises her too much. Yes uther is bad but she had a choice and she chose to be bad. Like Gwen said “in life we always have a choice, sometimes it’s easier to think that we don’t”. After killing uther, she could’ve left Arthur alone but no, vengeance and bitterness filled her heart and that was nobody’s fault but hers. Arthur would give his life for her, Gwen served her and took care of her but she wanted them dead for absolutely no reason. Nothing logical at least. She just became bitter and it’s like the dragon said, she was born with it. Some people are just evil and can’t be redeemed. The fandom needs to stop babying her and trying to justify her villainy, she is pure evil and that is okay. The few moments where she had the throne, she didn’t do anything good with that power. She didn’t even help those with magic, hell she even killed a whole village with magic dwellers. Morgana didn’t care, she was just thirsty for power and revenge. Her motivations were wrong. She started out good and pure but she became pure evil. Only Gwen and Lancelot were good and pure and never changed. Merlin didn’t care about his kind and was such a pick me, Arthur was insensitive, arrogant and dismissive sometimes, Gaius let innocent ppl die bcos he’s a kiss ass like Merlin. A lot of the characters were horrible people with redeemable qualities but Morgana, she was pure evil. Let it go, stop trying to baby her and turn her into some “misunderstood villain”. Stop excusing a villains evil just bcos they started out good or they are good looking. Y’all are just like the joker and thanos bandwagon. Get some help.
The people of camelot has killed as well. Evil is relative. Morgana sees magic and magical beings as her family and her true nature. She believes her victory will ensure their survival. It wasn't just for "nothing" Sure yeah she may have been corrupted and is actually evil but we don't know all the things Uther has done and the kings before him. Bad blood existed long before and it's hard to tell who started what and whose fault it is. It's easy for you to say forgive but has anyone actually attempted at your life and your people? There are aspects here parallel to the real world wars and conflicts and believe it or not it isn't as black and white as you make it out to be.
@@ChrisM-qo1jc bro pls shut up. Wdym “evil is relative”. Is murder now a subjective evil? Can’t believe you’re trying to debate morganas evil. Morgana is pure evil, she didn’t mind killing even her own kind, she didn’t mind killing innocents. Yes uther is just as bad if not worse but I guess that’s why they’re related. Arthur isn’t perfect but at least he grew and learnt from his mistakes although his character development was poorly written. Merlin and Gaius were complicit in murders of innocents yes. I guess Gwen, Lancelot, gwaine, elyan and Percival might be the only purely good characters who might’ve only killed in self defence. Maybe best you should start with her childhood (few things are said so far about this time of her). And (according to M-Z-B´s book) I would show that no one really cared for her, no one really loved her. So more and more she felt so alone. And I think these are reasons why people get some way crazy, isn´t it?. Would be very fine if you could make an alternative ending ( for example : Morgaine back in Avalon, along with Excalibur...)
The justified wrath to his calm calm artificial vice smug and pride It would be nice if they respected the character enough to make her a protagonist. The actress still did a great job. Would like to see a spin-off
I think it started when she found out she was uther's real daughter because he said no one can ever know who she is for the sake of arthur and I think the way Arthur was always accepted and she wasnt made her jealous and that lead to hatred
I think at least in the BBC's version, Merlin kind of made her evil with the influence from the dragon. Unlike Daenerys getting mad overnight, Morgana's story was believable. I love her
I think she best than daenerys
I agree.
Was it though? Like she comes back after Merlin betrayed her and she suddenly hates everyone and acts like a cartoon villain.

Exactly. Let's not forget that Morgause is very good at manipulating people too. She almost convinced Arthur to kill his father.
