Didn't watch the full vid yet MrHardcore but I read that article & I gotta say for the players who really want the feature of controlling multiple party members, the article was a pretty bad excuse lol Taking away agency in the name of combat being too fast paced, clearly signifies that Bioware is not targeting the crpg / tactical crowd anymore (at least in terms of gameplay mechanics). I think I woudl just prefer them admitting that rather than writing articles like this.
Man, that sucks for fans of that tactical style. Honestly I'd just rather hack and slash. I'm just not patient enough to plan a well thought out attack, taking into consideration flanking, enemy strengths/weaknesses and buffs/debuffs. And if I'm super honest i don't think I'm that smart. 😅 I think this change is to cater to more casual players like myself. If there's a new developer out there who wants to start a new RPG IP this could be a huge opporutunity for them. I know there are still lots of fans out there who love that tactical, turn based play loop. This could be a chance to capture that audience.
Funny that they tout catering for every type of player and play style, whilst limiting the main play style that brought in their core audience, decades ago.
The primary reason that being able to control multiple characters was good was that it allowed you to experiment with multiple builds and playstyles at the same time. You can have you main dps 2 handed warrior reaver but at the same time see how a ranged assassin or a rift mage felt to play as. It also allowed you to coordinate your part to create some insane combos. Pull the enemies together with your rift mage, freeze them with a frost mine, then shatter them with a heavy blow from your reaver. But no, I guess they will just be sitting in the back, doing whatever they want and quipping.
I would love to see Bush's reaction to BG3's combat/gameplay. She must have had a traumatic experience during the prologue, controlling 4 characters. Oh, the horror!
So you can't do anything your existing and the companions are the most important and are mandatory but you have zero impact for the battlefield but dont worry choices are forced in for "shippers" as they are more important as the intended market with cosplayers
Dragon Age 2 looks faster and way more in depth when it comes to combat based on the DAV trailer l guess these Devs never played as a Rouge in DA2 like seriously that game was cracked even made Inquisition look slow but we can’t handle DAV ? Seriously more high paced combat then previous installment’s ? We playing Guitar Hero Boys !
Yeah that kinda annoying to tell even new gamers and medium or old gamers it's to hard for you Can you imagined if Dark Soul's And Elden Said That to it's gamers 😂 they dismantle the devs for even saying that it's like telling gamers blood magic is to much for you to handle so we are taking it out of the game permanently because we think your slow and stupid
Honestly, I always thought DA2 combat looked very silly. Everything felt so exaggerated, it felt like a cartoon. Not to mention nothing felt like it had any weight at all. Also, waves of enemies kinda ruined planning aspects. And almost every fight had waves. I've played da2 several times, and on the hardest difficulty. I really don't see how it has more depth tha. I'll tell you exactly why. Because despite the game not being a "live service" game, it will 100% still have heavy live service implementations and they want you to stay playing the games to see the other classes rather than play as the companions that have it. This game started off as live service. Not a single part of my mind believes they truly took out all the live service implementation.
I'll wait until it's on sale I don't really want to support Veilguard.. doesn't feel like Dragon Age anymore. Veilguard is like a haircut you didn't want, asking the hairdresser for a bob haircut and end up with a Nick Carter haircut from the 90s back when Backstreet boys were young.
"Our mistake is your failure" Ahhh bullshit. I was fighting Reapers and flocks of mutated chargers and what not in real time while commanding my companions.
So let me get this straight, you take a squad based rpg w it's own character creator and remove all of it? How do these people get jobs? Whoever idea this was needs to own it and be fired once this fails which it obviously will. I hate "rpgs" that give me to use a premade character, especially frigging rook! EPIC FAIL
So, they did implement party control at one point. I wonder how difficult it will be to add party control with mods since that stuff is already built just hidden.
why? well simply put the current devs at bioware have zero skill or talent, lets not forget that if the game was called anything other than dragon age nobody would pay any attention to it. No swapping to party members, no party hud/hp/mana, limited to 3 abilities and 2 ''companions'' who are literal braindead meathshields at best.... all that for generic and boring hack and slash action gameplay, bioware bros its over.

I'm sorry, but these are cowards who are changing something to fit their personal preferences while nakedly lying about why. I'm so sick of all the dishonesty.
DA2 has pretty fast paced combat and the player has the choice to control other party members. There are people who play it on nightmare without pausing or controlling party members. They are clearly full of manure and don't understand the older games. Just as you say having the choice doesn't mean the player has to do that.
Remember, this game is for modern audience. They barely handle one character let alone three. Imagine four like in previous games, that would be disaster. God bless for Larian, its our last hope.
sounds like they made a game for no one. excuse me? I can't handle controlling a full party? I could before with past titles and other games. sounds more and more like this is a mobile game they are pushing out on platforms. silly button mashing combat with no pattern. they made the combat so easy anyone can handle it. no death? ok. why limit me to who I can control during battle? limited selection of skills? this really seems like the worst dumbed down version of Dragon Age so far. who's this game for if you took away all the fun? btw love the music playing in the background of the video.

Their test persons where probably tourists; what I've seen in the previews is not so fast that most players couldn't place a companion in between and give him an order; ...and in addition there are true and tried methods like slow-motion or time-out or pre-combat tactical settings.
I have the feeling that the gameplay was designed for MP and they just ad an ability wheel for your comoanian like the ME Trilogy. Andromeda even dropped that.
This's very predictable, 99 % of players don't control the companion in all previous dragon age games, They only controls the protagonist all times.
