Awesome JBShift! I got tickets for Legend MM on 3/3 too. I saw them for the first time in Philly this year, then NYC and at Aftershock. After seeing them live I just want to go to all their shows now. Can't wait for March in Japan!
Your first Babymetal live is always something special. You think you know how good they will be, but they blow even your biggest expectations out of the water. I've seen them live a number of times since then, and it never gets less exciting and you end up counting the days between when you last saw them, and when you will be able to see them next.
I saw them in Bangkok, I'm 56, and the crowd was insanely nice. And the age range was diverse as heck. I still think about that show today...and it was last May. 😂😂❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Sir! I saw this show too, elsewhere. Definitely worth it, other than the unavoidable problem of my wanting to see WAY more songs from Babymetal than they would've been able to do. Haha. Hopefully they'll come back soon! Rock onnnn, Sir! 🤘🦊🤘
My son got tickets for us for the Cleveland show (one of the best gifts ever!) and everything you've said about your experience is true - Metali was INSANE live, the crowd response to everything was so genuine and intense, and all the fans I met and talked with had the same opinion - AMAZING show!
watched them in Oslo this november, got to see them first row, the energy can not be explained, got a personal thumbs up from momo, and got to break my neck with moa during headbanger. i completely understand that feeling you had when talking about the concert, those girls are some real killers for sure 🤘🦊🤟
Thanks for the reaction! I will go to see them in Milan on December 8th!!! Unfortunately to participate in Legend MM I would first have to get divorced...
Take your wife with you to Japan. That's how I got to see Band Maid live at the Tokyo Garden Theatre. She came to the concert and loved it. We had a fantastic fortnight travelling around Japan.
Finally the wait is over! Thanks for releasing this, sad you got exhausted by the time BM played their songs. I believe you, MoaMetal waved at you, there's a lot of fancams of Moa interacting with the crowd and fans, she loves to do that.❤ Next time go to a BM headline show like they're doing right now in EU and UK. Rock on man!🦊🤘🔥
Babymetal ate ducking awesome . Omg I love them so much. Ppl think it’s weird. Can’t wait to see them twice this month. Last saw them in may. And will again next June. OBSESSED .
I saw them here in Norway last tuesday, and it was one the best conserts i've ever been to, the energy was crazy ❤️ even got on camera that Moa pointed towards me and smiled 🤩
Great review, thanks for this - love all the little details and the clips. Dethklok tired you out, BABYMETAL rejuvenated you .... they clearly made a great impression on you.🤘🦊🤘
BABYMETAL is always the best! BABYMETAL always makes me feel better, but didn't you hurt your back from all the rampage? If you did, listen to "No Rain No Rainbow" again👍.
Finally, it's amazing for any fan to see their favorite bands live, but these kinds of bands are meant to see live, which makes it the best kind of experience. Glad you finally got to see them ! And had an amazing experience. It's really interesting how both bands are very much a visual band with those playing the instruments in the shadows/back. But still very much heavy and both with great audience participation/audience encouragement to engage, etc. 23:45 what is even more crazy, they were performing this song live before it was released ! Sometimes Babymetal does this, they drop it on fans out of the blue. 24:02 it seems like it's a backing track, but it sounds like it's her in the studio doing it, which is great to see.
Not sure if you know of Prof. Hartley our resident thespian expert and avid Babymetal fan... You can hear him shout "Sakura!" in the background after Momo's old lady monologue. This is like the various branches of Babymetal fan-verse intersecting! Sooo cooooool 🤩🤩🤩
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is my favorite as well, and when they played it i totally lost it... i became emotional because i finally got to see it live, especially not knowing if they were going to play it since they left it out of the sabton and asia tours
Speaking of "Gimme Chocolate", i don't know if i already told this or not but one time where I work at, i don't remember why but they had a workout dance woman come in to workout with us and the last time she was there, she let me pick a song and I of course picked "Gimme Chocolate". Cut to the next time she came by and that was the very first song played and it was LOUD AND I WAS LOVING IT
Great report! I saw them in Philly, NYC and at Aftershock. In NYC I was about 4 back from the barrier stage left. It was almost surreal seeing Su, Moa and Momo like 20 feet away from me. I could swear Moa made eye contact with me once. It made me so happy.
You know the old saying that if you break a mirror, you get 7 years bad luck? Well the flipside of that is that if Moa smiles at you, you get 8 years of good luck!
They really need to move up to smaller basketball/hockey arenas in the US, especially with all these collabs they are doing popping off. Electric Callboy had the same issue in my city. They were booked into a glorified old bar venue and half the people who bought tickets ended up watching a screen in the beer garden area.
If you thought Moa or any of the ladies looked at you, they did . I interacted with Moa, and I thought about it like you, " did she ? " But I am sure she did. You can not be mistaken when it happens. I also got a huge smile of Momo as well . Other fans will tell you the same sort of story . Exellent video really enjoyed it 😁👍 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Watsau,Watsau is a Japanese street trash slang. When some regular Japanese person is on city street is really yelling at Johnny Somali for his bad attitude towards the very proud people of Japan.🇯🇵my great information for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀
I am going to a Babymetal concert in London in nine days and I am SO EXCITED! AAAAHHHH! They are not playing with Dethklok, it's just them. I saw them with Sabaton and Lordi in Glasgow in April, but during that show, they only did a handful of songs. It was very much a Sabaton show (and they were amazing). I can't wait to see them headline.
Man, great reaction from start to finish. I hate to rain on your parade, but Moa is famous for her eye contact at shows. I saw Babymetal in Brisbane, Australia and I was on a balcony about 4 meters from the stage, on Moa's stationed side. I had 3 or 4 eye contact moments with Moa during that performance and it truly felt deeply personal. Every time there was a musical interlude where they engage the crowd, it felt like Moa was acknowledging me. One time I waved, and she waved back (like you), and I couldn't believe it. I even pointed at my chest and mouthed the word 'me', and she nodded. So, a bit of a reality check here. Of course, Moa wasn't acknowledging me personally, at that distance from the stage, her line of sight would have taken in perhaps 50 to 70 people, half of them would have probably been waving and pointing at their chests and mouthing the word, 'Me'? I suspect the same thing happened to you, and many other people in each of our crowds. However, it still feels real. This is part of Babymetal's magic, they make every crowd member feel like they are an old friend. Mr. R&R, you mentioned that you were packed in like sardines to the venue. It was the same for me in Brisbane. The crowd there was in the range of 3,500. While lined up for merchandise, I overheard two security guards talking about how this venue wasn't suitable for them because demand for tickets was threefold the venue capacity. I thought that the small venues might be because Babymetal was just trying to service a market that is unknown and potentially small. They had been burned before in Brisbane (in 2018 or 19, they played the Ekka Showgrounds and didn't sell it out). After a two-year hiatus, I think Babymetal's management was playing it safe. This might have been a testing-the waters-tour. There was a lot of small venues on the US tour as well. I reckon we will see a new album in the first half of next year, and Babymetal will use the data they collected on this tour to better target bigger and more elaborate shows. We just might have to travel a bit further. For example, here in Australia, instead of doing three shows, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, they could do two big shows in Sydney at probably 15K+ punters each night. It would be cheaper for them, and a better experience for fans. Again, thanks for your reactions. I liked this one a lot because you talked more, and I felt I understood you better. Cool stuff.
The fact I was here with you for most of this journey, and it culminated for both of us just a couple weeks apart (I went to Milwaukee and Minneapolis) as first timers. This was vicariously living as well as living. We rocked hard to get here and the next one will be even better. I thought I would share, that in Minneapolis if you find the fancam of Road of Resistance, I am the guy holding back the entire crowd counting us down to the wall of death, the big long haired bulky guy in all black. I stood there staring down Su-metal until the biggest circle pit I have ever seen formed around us. I lost my shoe, got it back after the show, but it was the greatest concert moment of my life. ua-cam.com/video/_Tb9wf7zszw/v-deo.html at 40 seconds you can see me in the lower left, holding my arms up to the side - at 1:03 you can see me bring them up and count - and at 1:09 you can see me get absolutely squashed. Greatest 30 seconds of my life. (if you do watch this Mr R and R, note how big this circle actually gets, its the entire floor, smallest venue on the tour, sold out, packed to the walls, and the pit gets as huge as it does)
I always enjoy seeing your reactions. I could feel how much you love BM. I also got my first show with BM couple of weeks ago at NEX FEST in Japan and it was awesome. Their presence is getting bigger and bigger with ceiling-less.
I went to their concert in CT and had a blast. You seemed to have a really good crowd too which adds to the fun, but lordy all the freakin' phones in the air. Luckily that was under control at our concert, so annoying. So many good J-Metal and J-Rock concerts to hopefully look forward to in the future. Peace
Really great report. Thank you for sharing your impressions with us. I'm gonna see the girls tomorrow in Berlin and I'm already counting minutes 😄 It's a very beautiful shot you've got there of Moa during Monochrome. She's definitely the most kawaii human being in the world. That's a fact! 😎 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
You make me regret not going to see them in PHX. Citi early access failed me and I could not get tickets. Then tickets were $300+. I didn't want to go downtown and end up spending $500. Wish I would have went.
Saw BM for the first time at Toronto in the same tour - like you say, it was such a huge step up from just watching videos or listening to the music. It was AMAZING.
The only dissapointment that I had at the show in Dallas was that the lights weren't working (or weren't there) on the right side of the stage, so I couldn't see Moa smile when she came over to our side. Although, at my age, that might have saved me from a heart attack. :)
The BM show in Phoenix wasn’t fun at all. Not because of Su,Moa and Momo. They were great. The sound was awful. The bass, low end, was turned up so loud it drowned out the music and the girls’ singing. I want to see them again in a different venue.
