There are 360 degrees in one full turn of a clock hand. That means there are 30 degrees for every 5 minutes the hand turns. The clock above reads 10:10 am, how many degrees will the large (minute) hand have turned when the time reaches 11:00am? The answer is 300 degrees. Not 270
Yes, the answer is 300 degrees. The minute hand must move 270 degrees to get to the 11, however the question asks for 11 o'clock. Therefore it must move 300 degrees.
It was really thought-provoking video that opened my intellectual ability of guessing the verbal images and numericals.thanks alot for such unique video.again thanks
15:07 you have to measure the horizontal distance from the center of the elements to the top of the triangle. It’s not how you say it. The closest to the middle of the swing is the heaviest.
Good luck with your psychometric tests. Have a look at the following link - www.how2become.com/careers/royal-navy-test/ (this might give you some extra resources) :)
Which load is havier? We have to approach to it by drawing a weight center. Actually A is heavier than B because, the weight center of A is closer to point of support than the weight center of B. Am I wrong ?
Great video. One suggestion - at 14:50 you refer to a clock a an example but this can be confusing. A clock almost always tends to tick on 1 second increments, so a longer pendulum is geared to still tick the same as a shorter pendulum. Maybe a simpler example of a wrecking ball on a crane?
Great instruction. Glad to see instructor corrected the answer to the clock degree question. I wished I had been trained earlier on how to take these types of assessments. I do have a problem with requiring credit card information and card security code in order to receive the FREE Psychometric Testing Suite. That's unfortunate.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for your very kind comment! We're glad it's helped. Here is a link to access the free testing suite without needing to enter card details: www.how2become.com/cart/?add-to-cart=1128
***Thank you.*** I did a Mental Agility test yesterday. I didn't do the questions in order and your videos helped prepare me for the type of questions that would be put to me. I don't know my score yet, but your videos really did help and I just want to thank you.
15:40 totally depends on their distance from the pivot, they only weigh the same if their centre of mass is equal distance from pivot, which doesn’t look to be the case here
Thank you Sir. Just one thing I noticed; correct me again but on the question,'From 10.10am to 11.00am', the long hand of the clock goes from the digit '2' to the digit '12' which is 300 degrees instead of 270 degrees. The answer would have been 270 degrees if the question asks, 'From 10.10am to 10.55am'. Anyways, thank you so much for the great help!
LIGHTNINGLEVIS i think the pendulum one is a wrong answer as well. It makes more sense for it to be answer A. I take in to account gravity and the area it could cover when going back and forth to help me come out with my answer. The second mistake was a verbal mistake with the addition. Its answer A)25.08 not D) 25.80.And if I am wrong, I thank this video for helping me along the wonderful world of second guessing myself!
very helpful, thank you. But re the spatial test with 2, 3D shapes, you mentioned that option D might have been a possibility, no, when you turn the shape by 180° the black dot would be on the opposite side. I agree re comments about the clock, I get 300° for that one, otherwise, really useful, thanks
Thank you very much Sir, the video helped me believe that I can do it. I was looking at aptitude tests online and all I kept bumping into was A level maths which I haven't ever had to use in my 10 year technician career. Of course after all that time it looked like a completely new language to me. Your video has helped me to focus and I thank you again.
The time and degree question I disagree on... It's actually 300deg, the question asks when it is 11am not when the hand is on 11... Therefore to be 11am, it would have to be on the 12 position..!!!
some of the questions are annoyingly vague, for example the question posed at 10:30 asks you to rotate the shapes. but in my mind you can rotate them in two different ways not just one, spinning the shape around whilst remaining upright is just as valid as rotating the entire shape clockwise or anti clockwise. That i suppose is where i fail at these tests
The clock turns 360 degrees. If 60 minutes is 360 degrees and each 5 mins = 30 degrees the 50 mins would be 300 degrees! (30x2=60, 360-60 =300).. 270 degrees would be 45minutes!!!
Which load is heavier? We have to approach to it by drawing a weight center. Actually A is heavier than B because, the weight center of A is closer to point of support than the weight center of B. Am I wrong ? @CareerVidz
the question at 15:54.... Isn't A supposed to be heavier because it is moved a bit inside the scale. If it was placed at the edge i'm sure it would be heavier. If we are to consider laws of physics wouldn't that need to be considered as well? Jus asking. Here's the link to the exact time frame of the question that I'm asking. : ua-cam.com/video/cM3dFm2_f3k/v-deo.html

Dear coach, i have a question about the example of the turning clock @22:35. When to clock reaches 11am, the large hand has to turn 10 x 5mins =300 degrees. Isnt that right?
I hope you kindly learn to tell the time . The question with the time it says how much degree change the long arm of the clock needs the clock to reach 11 am from 10.10am it is 300 degrees
The A is more heavy than B. The bar is balance, TRUE, HOWEVER, A is not at the same distance than B A is closer to the center than B ! The pendulum is not completly true: The question should be "who has higher frequency". Because, speed is higher in D...
Hi Samuel, thanks for commenting on our Psychometric Tests video - we take onboard your comments and will use them to improve our next video. All the best, Richard
My question there are 30 degrees for each 5 minutes then between 10.10 am till 11.00 am only 50 minutes remaining so 50/5=10 times of 5 minutes in 50 minutes then 10X30 =300 degrees is my answer ! Could you give little explanation how 270 degrees comes in Thanks - Mirza

15:37 This is not correct. Object A has a centre of mass closer to the pivot point than object B, so if they have the same torque (which they will if they are balanced), then A must be heavier.
the balance question is really stupid, we have no idea the distance of each object from the pivot point and whether or not they're of uniform density, poor question.

The clock above reads 10:10 am, how many degrees will the large (minute) hand have turned when the time reaches 11:00am?
The answer is 300 degrees. Not 270
300 degrees
phew, I thought id lost my mind
5 mins at 30 degrees means 6 degrees a minute and it takes 50 minutes to reach 11:00am from 10:10am. Therefore, 6×50=300
damn right
true initially i felt dump mehn
The clock question at 22:30min should be 300deg, NOT 270deg.
(50min/60min)*360deg=300deg OR 360deg/60min=6deg/1min therefore (6deg/1min)*50min=300deg
Good I am not the only on that saw that.
lol - yea - I just hit that one too
Yes, you are correct. If the time would have been 10:15 the answer 270 deg. is correct...
Was just about to point that out. Glad someone else caught it.
Was just scrolling through the comments for this. 360/12 then ×10.
Thought I went dumb.
Yes, the answer is 300 degrees. The minute hand must move 270 degrees to get to the 11, however the question asks for 11 o'clock. Therefore it must move 300 degrees.
I hope this video helps some of you to prepare for you tests :-)
look at the royal navy website practice test
CareerVidz, you should put an annotation at the clock part correcting your mistake
CareerVidz I need to pass one of these tests to get in the RAF (Royal Auxiliary Fleet)
It was really thought-provoking video that opened my intellectual ability of guessing the verbal images and numericals.thanks alot for such unique video.again thanks
i think the question on the load heaviest distance from the center is important
300 degrees
I had to go to the comments just to find someone to confirm my mental state
bikiran pardesi . . Yeah that's right I was thinking is there anymore wrong answers he said
The Keogh Clan I did exactly the same. 😅👍
Nope 270 degrees, read and understand the question. It you have to stop the large minute hand at 11 and not 12. :)

I thought I was wrong. I kept doing the math and coming up with what you got. Thanks.
Ur correct
i was like why is it 270 degrees lol , i thought i was dumb af

Well best of luck with your application to joining the Navy :)

The pendulum question is unclear. D will give you lowest frequency but fastest velocity at the buttom of the swing.
--> V = W*R
Which load is havier? We have to approach to it by drawing a weight center. Actually A is heavier than B because, the weight center of A is closer to point of support than the weight center of B. Am I wrong ?
I totally agree. The trainer is wrong on this.
I was looking for this 👍
Yes I was thinking the same. W = F x D, since A requires less distance for the same Work Done, it must weigh more than B.
Great video. One suggestion - at 14:50 you refer to a clock a an example but this can be confusing. A clock almost always tends to tick on 1 second increments, so a longer pendulum is geared to still tick the same as a shorter pendulum.
