  • I've visited this area of Utah on many occasions and one of the sights is this old abandoned cement truck near the town of Caineville Utah, about 18 miles east of Hanksville Utah and a bit east of the western boundary of the Capitol Reef National Park. This truck has been here since at least the early 2000's and when I looked at the older images from Google Earth I can see it here in the early 2000's but the previous image in about 1994 doesn't show it so my guess is it probably found its way here in the late 90's.
A bit further east in the town of Hanksville Utah is an artsy place with home made dinosaurs made form junk. That's not entirely new and the whole junk into dinosaur thing has been around for quite a while but they includes some more human looking 'beasts' and other critters as well. Lots of these small towns have artists move in and set up shop.
This area is near some pretty spectacular places in southern Utah. To the west is Capitol Reef National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park, to the north is Goblin Valley State Park and the San Rafael Swell, to the Northeast is Moab with Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, and to the southeast you cross the Colorado River at the eastern end of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Beyond that is Mexican Hat with the Moki Dugway and Valley of the Gods. South of that is Monument Valley.
