I noticed MOTD didn't show Arsenal's best moments in their highlights package and tended to focus on Liverpool to the point where they didn't even discuss our postive moments in the game at the end in their discussion section..blatant biased towards Arsenal is evident. Check it out Tom
It's the northern media bias and well known throughout these parts.
You must be a new arsenal fan😂😂, we should enjoy being underrated this season and under praise
nothing new at all. MOTD never gives any credit to arsenal.
Yeah not gonna lie. That annoyed me. They were quick to say how good TAA was. Quick bit about the Ø8 handball and that was it. Really do hate the hatred/bias we have against us
Needed Mr. Wright working on it.
You’re a true professional Tom. Most UA-cam videos have endless edits. To the point where it’s almost considered to be a filming style. That was a flawless 20 minutes . Thank you 🙏🏻
Zinchenko didnt cover himself in glory... -2 points. We need to sort out the left or well keep conceding goals and losing points this season
For a world class team, their pitch was shocking! The penalty shout for Odergaad and the Saka tackle were due to slipping on the turf.
Been going through a busy patch mate, just dropping in to say thank you for your efforts!
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas Tom and all of the TGT crew
Flying solo without the chat room you did great, thank you.
Happy Christmas🎄wishes to you and your family Tom.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to Gooners far and wide. #COYG ❤⚽️
Merry Christmas
After yesterday's match, I am more than convinced that we need a proper powerful striker. I love Jesus to bits, and we are much better with him in the team, BUT he gets bullied by big defenders and it frustrates him a lot. Jesus played well though I can't fault him but he is not that striker for me. Martinelli looked out of sorts and I couldn't figure what was going on with him. As for Zinny, I am glad we have Timber and Tomi in our team. When those two are fit Zinny should never be playing against the likes of Salah. All in all I am glad with a point given how the game panned out.
Jesus was our best forward yesterday. Konate and Van Dijk rarely don't bully their opponents to be fair no matter who their opponent is.
We do need a forward upgrade but we need a RCB upgrade and CDM upgrades first. We have FFP to deal with first
Thanks, Tom for the unbiased commentary on our recent game with Liverpool. I watch you regularly even be it from Perth W.A. I have been a fan of Arsenal for 66 years and have seen many triumphs and disappointments but I am silently confident that we will prevail this year. Seasons greetings to you and all of your family.
Thanks mate you too
Great work Tom .. hope ur trip home is uneventful mate and have a great Christmas
this is a nice format on occasion Tom. Happy Christmas!
I hope you’re able to have a smooth trip home. Happy Christmas Eve Tom!!
Yessss. Up the Arsenal!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to my lovely Gooners all over the world!
💜 🖖🏽 🌍 ⛄ 🌲 🎁
Safe journey tom. And happy Christmas
Hope your journey isn't too tough, not ideal coming back on Xmas eve! Good point, and very glad to have Anfield out of the way for the season.
Tom I think the same reason Tomiyasu is able to nullify Salah is because he is right footed and the same goes for Gomez, he was constantly forcing Saka onto his left foot or backwards
Excellent point, have always raised this when it comes to inverted full backs.
Totally agree that Rice was excellent against Liverpool. Haven't seen such a strong CM performance at Anfield since the days of Vieira. Pat was one of the only players who could absolutely dominate Gerrard on most occasions. And totally agree with the lack of speed. Arsenal always had a trend of having the fastest or one of the fastest players in the PL at our club: Overmars, Henry, Walcott, then Bellerin, Aubameyang. I want that level of pace back our club, it's such a dangerous weapon
Hey Tom, hope you got home ok! Have a great Christmas! 🎉🎁🥳😁
Thanks Tom! Have a great Christmas
I'm happy with a point it's a fair result. What a football match though both teams going for the win, my only criticism is the finishing we had chances to score more. However the boys played well and gave it a good go
Thank you for the great video. Its better than you think…as usual :) Good result! Merry XMas Gooners!!!
I respectfully disagree, that was a penalty against Odeegard...i have watched it like 6 times now...he gained an advantage there though unintentional,al take it though
And it is that unintentional nature which means it’s not handball against him
People blaming Zinchenko solely for the goal are just scapegoating. 1) Gabriel should have recognised the mismatch and doubled up on Salah. Van Dijk always went to double up v Saka. Samething with Konate v Martinelli/Havertz. 2) Salah has done that to the best defenders in the league for years. Sometimes the quality of the player and team also has to be factored in. This is the same guy that danced his way through an entire City defence to score.
PS: Trossard sublime hattrick at Anfield for Brighton was better but Declan had a good game.
You can give them the first fifteen minutes of the second half; but given that the match ended with almost even possession for both teams, it is certainly not right to say we only got back in the last ten minutes of it. we definitely wrestled back into the match in the last half hour and I think it is telling that their best chance came only from our mistake on the edge of their box. Something about that pitch was off; because our players kept slipping, which broke down our game.
And that Salah goal; Zinchenko should look at himself; the lethargic way with with he stuck that leg way after Salah had shifted the ball to his left. And him not forcing Salah to the touchline was not good defending on his part.
It was great to see how we went to their stadium and played our game; the way we weathered their intensity early in the second half and began to wear them down until they fell away by the end. I really do not see how you say they should have won it when we ended with the same number of shots and even chances. And a shout for a penalty by Havertz
Good morning all
Great job once again@ Tom. I do think we were a bit lucky with the MØ handball, even though you expained it perfectly why you ddidn't think it was a pen.
I've got a question for tomorrow. I think Martinelli and Saka more often should try triangles to beat their oponents, rather than doing it on their own. I really miss those triangles from last year, between Saka, MØ and White. This year Saka barely uses MØ, even though he is there for passing. Even MØ seems a bit frustated about this. I think this is the key for more chancecreating, for both sides, with Zinny and Havertz combining with Martinelli on the left. Whats your thoughts of this?
Merry Christmas.
Something I need to look out for, for sure. Saka does burst to the touchline a lot.
Tom we don’t always agree with one another that’s opinions but thanks for your honest opinion , the handball was ball to hand not hand to ball that’s how I see it
Sorry but massive stretch to suggest Rice played any significant part in Trent hitting the bar, can clearly see on replay the ball bobbles and is off the ground as Trent shoots, which is why he got too much under it and struck the bar. No doubt Rice is quality, but if penalty had correctly been given and ball didn't bobble up for Trent, could easily have been a 3:1 defeat for Arsenal.
It really isn't. Rice's positioning means that the pass is played in the area that it is and makes the chance harder. It is no reach, it is actually quite simple. Had Rice rushed, it could have lead to a 4v1 and the 1 being Raya. Instead it wasn't and led to that chance.
Rather than highlighting the bobble of the ball or Rice’s excellent positioning, Michael Owen and Ian Wright actually highlighted Trent’s technique when he took the shot, leaning back rather than covering the ball.
Lady Fortuna was with us!!!!
Great point for us
Tom, Thanks for a great year of content. Best wishes to you and yours for the Christmas season.
An idea for a discussion - Saliba/Gabriel vs Bould/Adams (or Keown/Adams)...who comes out on top?
Commenters feel free to chip in....
Thank you for listening! Thanks for the idea
MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW GUNNER FANS❤
now I didn't expect this to be in HD - what camera did you use as this is CLEAR!
Looking sharp Tom! 🎉
Only love for Olex Zinchenko. It's Moh Saleh ffs.. Had a good game overall.
Tom since you go to press conferences, have noticed a change in Mikel from the previous years? He seems more open and nice with the media this year. Is that right?
Yes and no. Depends on his mood and the topics aha
RICE……..OMG!!! Havertz is coming on. Yes on Saliba & Gabriel!
Saliba just looks like he’s not trying when he plays so well. Was Gabriel at fault at all for leaving Zinny alone against Salah?????
I think we handled ourselves well. Was an even match. They countered and trotted up the field. I do wish we could at least send a few longballs up the field per game for verity. Our counter play is pretty much non existant. For sure a lack in our game. I also am shocked at how many times we get the ball in in the box only to Immediately pop it back out? What is that? Give those balls to true scorers and their making a play, turning around and taking that shot. JMO
Odergaad slipped first then the ball hit his hand. Saka slipped first made contact with the ball, the contact with the player. No card for me.
Sky bias was laughable. The keep mentioning Citeh. BBC only showed Liverpool positive replays and Odergaad penalty shout.
Martinelli. Osimhen. Saka
Trossard. Jesus. Neto
Wirtz. Odegaard
Douglas Luiz. Esr
Rice
Partey
Timber. Gabriel siliba. Frimpong
Tierney. Tomori white. Tomi
Raya
Ramsdale
Biased against Trossard like always. He was great with the cameo he played. Should have subbed Martinelli earlier.
Oh behave he’s been one of Arteta’s best signings you melon
Did u notice how loads of our players were slipping but not any of the Liverpool players. Hmmmm???
What’s your suggestion for that?
Good morning family
Zinny shocking again. Why play him against Salah he can't defend. Tell me again why is Tierney not good enough?
Because Tierney took us to the top 5. Zinny has taken us to successive title challenges. It’s that simple.
He’s also available. Tierney has already missed the majority of this season for Sociedad injured.
@@TheGoonerTalkTV Tom we need be bullying teams in to selling w need a zinny uograde he is poor at lb. Theo Hernandez plays for AC Milan there not a good a team as us flex our muscles Arteta and Edu think there big time go a get a massive player like him
I think you’re letting fifa do the talking Chris
Did they poor oil on the pitch yesterday
Very slippy
Tom!!!
Greg!!!
Have a superb Christmas my man!!!
You too mate!
Partey wouldn't have gone to AFCON by then? So that means that Salah could also play in the FA Cup game right?
It depends. Different nations require earlier call-ups than others and Ghana might want Partey to play some minutes to test fitness
Liverpool just hoofed the ball up field to either Salah or Diaz, no ability to break us down.
Don't need to bother with breaking us down if this method works. City turned us over that way with De Bruyne and Haaland last season. Win by any means
Pitch wasn't great but we didn't deserve more than a point
I don't think we have to be happy seeing Arteta play that crap 29. I am surprised no one is talking about it when clearly arsenal are weaker with that number 29
While I've been critical of Havertz for a couple of months, he wasnt crap yesterday, I do think he could have been subbed but Martinelli and Zinchenko had worse games. Rice, Saliba and Gabriel had great games, everyone else was average to poor. Let's not blame Havertz here
He wasn't crap. One of the most frustrating things yesterday was the amount of times we gave the ball away. Havertz didn't do that. He was tidy in tight spaces and accurate with his passing. He was quieter in the first half, but showed more in the second. only thing you can really pinpoint is his offensive game, but our whole front five apart from Saka wasn't on it.
Noticed Sambi had a good game for Luton. Do u think that’s his level or he’s got future with us?
Too early to tell
I'll say it again since the last time I commented on it it was rubbished. "ZINCH guarantees the opposition 1-2 clear goal opportunities EVERY game!" An unacceptable liability. KIWOR IN
You know Kiwior also gave Luton plenty right? And PSV?
@@TheGoonerTalkTV suppose its time to go shopping! happy holidays TGT!
Tomi and Timber coming back in the next few months. Other areas are far more important. Merry Christmas@@darryIl
Should’ve been a pen for Liverpool I understand their frustrations
We’ll agree to disagree there
Yeah, you can easily argue that it "looks" like Martin voluntarily handles the ball away from the path of the other guy so he can't play it.
With how low the bar has been to give these, it's a huge surprise they didn't stop the play.
Maybe they were too slow and no longer could act upon it as soon as the ball went out & the play resumed as it'd be a different phase of play. I think VAR can't bring it back in such occasion.
In any case, we got lucky here as there's 0% chance the call would have been overturned if the ref had blown his whistle. 😅
The peno claim was at 1:0 so i don’t think they were robbed. If it was at 1:1 I would get the frustrations
@@zTom_ odegaard's hand movement is still weird. i get it, he slipped but still like the way he uses his hand means he takes it away from salah. it might be accidental, it might not. but i do think either way it affected the course of play significantly enough to warrant a penalty.
the moany, whiney, cry baby arsenal fans not going to moan about var / refs this week???
even legohead is not whinging 😱
Merry Christmas to you too Sam.
Yeah,Merry Christmas, mr boggins you hob
@@leondavis8267 haha haha you know its true!!!! all arsenal do is moan and whinge, now understand why fans from other teams cannnot stand them!
The ref had a good game. I really don’t know what you thought should have gone the other way. Neither were penalties as I explained and Saka shouldn’t have been sent off. Let the game flow, no complaints.
Eddie did look really sharp and mobile. He and Trossard added something we needed.
Totally agree, I felt like he wanted to make an impact and tried to do so.. that’s all he can do, and he ran like a man possessed
@@JackBowyer-rn1py so what’s yours?
Definitely on Eddie. Trossard I was less sure on as it wasn’t the low block he usually has an impact on. Thats Villa and Liverpool I’ve felt we didn’t see him impact things enough
Jack that’s hilarious
@@TheGoonerTalkTV his hold up play allowed us to get the point.. I thought he was good without being decisive
Merry Christmas tom
Merry Christmas to you Tom!!🎉
Merry Christmas TC, your growth over the years has been phenomenal to witness...keep it up mate
Take good care of yourself
Tom Q. As much as i luv the FA cup i think id play the kids let Liverpool hav it give them more games to play and we hav Lge & CL to play to win, we dont need extra games this season.
I would play a back four of Tomi (LB), Gabriel, Saliba, Benny White until Timber is fit. From what I can gather Arteta said he wanted Raya to hold the ball (at Goal Kicks etc.) almost in a Left Back position, while Zinky cuts inside to bolster the Midfield as is his M.O. Yesterday, Raya was hoofing it up field at virtually every opportunity so the previously mentioned tactic was null and void. Couple that with Zinky's parlous defending efforts and I sometimes wonder why he starts. Also, why do we need Raya instead of Rambo if he just hoofs it upfield? His raison d'etre is supposed to be his ball at feet ability and that has proved to be debatable on form. Brentford's ex-goalkeeper Coach has done it again! Agent Cech eat your heart out 😂. Season's Greetings Tom....hope you're not still sitting on a train just outside Lime St. Station 👍🌲.
When Liverpool broke with 5 players, they looked like thoroughbred racehorses. Frightening. We don’t have that pace.
Begrudgingly happy with a point. Could have, and maybe should have, been worse (handball, Trent to crossbar). I realize my frustration with Zinny is that it’s the poor defensive decisions, and not the technical ability (ie, decision to poke a toe in vs just stay in front. Not mad about not actually getting a toe in).
The commentary on Martinelli is how I’ve felt about him for a while: can he be coached into a truly great 1v1 type player? On Kai: can’t wait for the risky more progressive forward passes. He’s starting to get the ball carrying under his belt, though. On Saka: similar sentiments to Martinelli. I’d love some variation / maybe more killer instinct. But, at this point is that just asking for a “best player in the world” type thing? Idk.
Happy holidays and safe travels, all.
It's a stretch, Trent should have scored. Regardless, it was a decent contest against what is probably Arsenal's strongest team team, maybe Timber or Tomi would get in. Liverpool played well considering their mid-week exertions in the cup, against an Arsenal side that had a week to rest / prepare.
Losing Tsimikas was a problem and he joins Robertson, Matip, Jota, Thiago and Bajcetic (who kept Fabinho out of the team last season) on the injury list.
Avoiding injuries might well determine who wins the league. Losing both LBs to freak impact injuries (dislocation for Robertson, broken collar bone for Tsimikas) is pretty unlucky.
I don't think martinellli was poor i thought Liverpool game planned for him especially because szoboszlai and konate are physical it was always gonna be hard he's operating by himself.
Ben white is soldiering on not fit at all ,odegaard dropping deeper to help with the build up was soo pivotal made a good a release valve. Kai was solid his defensive solidity is an upgrade on GX.
Eddie and trossard helped us regain control when they came on and nullify them helped bring kai back into the game.
The goal i won't blame zinny fully salah was always gonna back left i think gabriel gets there late this game was similar Newcastle back and forth
Zinchenko getting beaten wasn't just down to him. And he did it once and we suffered. It was Zinchenko giving the ball away that was more of an issue. Not one to one. Tomi would have started. Kiwior wouldnt have given us in that role and I think would have been given a harder time one on one while not giving us ball control for the most part.
Top of the league at Christmas two seasons in a row!!! What a difference 4 years and Arteta makes.
Just how much water was on that pitch?
Zini will always be a problem defensively until he isn't playing in that position. Even going forward at times he tends to give away the ball.
Liverpool have good predator in history of first division Prem league games, Arsenal and Liverpool have good history, Arsenal last two seasons have done brill must admit football has changed through tougher officialling through the last two seasons good goals lads Merry christmas👏
Havertz pen shout is given in open field he got nudged but i don't think it was as forceful
Been saying all week to my liverpool supporting buddies we wont win because we dont have Tomi playing against Salah and itl be Zinchenko. He has no pace and cant defend against the best right sided player of the last decade in the PL. I hate being right sometimes. But il take a draw at Anfield. Happy Xmas everyone!
I mean we didn’t have much choice tbf. Our other two options for the game who would start over him are both injured
Ocazio dubbrey from the academy. Must we always buy?
We have more hale end graduates in our senior squad than any other big six side?
Good morning to you all
Thanks, Tom, Hope your journey home wasn't troublesome
2 great teams and a wow game
Merry Christmas Tom. Thanks for all your coverage this year.
We were lucky yesterday. The Ødegaard arm and the 5 on 1 shot off the post….🫣. Intense. I was sweating fish hooks and had to change my shirt after the match. Apart from that one glaring defensive error Zinny was decent. I was hoping Tomi was available. Oh well.
