My first Crimso album in 76...Spent the rest of my life and still to this day; love this band...Saw them a few times...Favorite album; Starless and Bible Black
One of the reasons why the drumming sounds so original is because BB uses ample and creative silences and spacing. That's an art in itself. To control the tendency to play several notes. Only a few drummers in a rock context can do this. It is more common in jazz where drummers most come down to let other musicians improvise.
Larks Tongues in Aspik, starless and bible black, Red are my all time favourites since i had my first acids with them in the 70‘s .... but they never really fail DISCIPLINE and the following recordings so many years later were far more inspirational and ahead of the time as few others ... i was evan impressed of their 50 Year Anniversary concert in Mexico City .... and of coarse I‘m a fan of Toya and Robert‘s Sunday madness 😉

Ten thousand feet fun-fair
Convinced that I don't care
It's safe as houses I swear
I was just sitting musing
The virtues of cruising
When altitude dropping
My ears started popping
One more red nightmare
Sweat beginning to pour down
My neck as I turn round
I heard fortune shouting
Get off of this outing
A farewell swan song
See you know how turbulence can be
The stewardess made me
But the captain forbid me
One more red nightmare
Reality stirred me
My angel had heard me
The prayer had been answered
A reprieve has been granted
The dream was now broken
Though rudely awoken
Really safe and sound

This song has plenty going for it, not the least of all, some fabulous lyrics
Trippin' the first time I heard this as a teen......... still blows me away, the whole album, this one is so great, still listenin' and still trippin' more than 40 yrs later...................
i couldnt think of a better album to listen to while tripping.
Steve Wilson was able to get the master tapes of this one and give us a 5 channel version that allows you ( if you can manage the hardware) to listen to each separate " voodoo hypnotic" guitar part ! Marvelous.
where?
@@chasetemple3992 If you have the 5..1 DVD and a player that uses 5 main RCA patch cords feeding your surround system , It easy to find which channel or two has the main lead guitar. Then you use a couple of two way splitters on that output of the DVD player to feed one of your extra stereo inputs on the surround sound receiver and set that to 5.1 stereo mode . Then you can listen to any of the channels separately through all 5 spks. I'm using about 6 splitters and extra patch cords so I can switch from 5.1 to just the front or just the rears or just the center plays through the whole system.
My first Crimso album in 76...Spent the rest of my life and still to this day; love this band...Saw them a few times...Favorite album; Starless and Bible Black
The more I hear this song, the more I love it. Nobody can nor will ever be sic to this level again. Must use headphones!

「1more red nightmare」🥰 is forever timeless👏🙌 song🥰 😃😌🌸🎵✌️🤘👌☆!
Best track on this lp... as much as love everything else... this track is sick AF!
I agree. Red is great also but this is so damn good.
The intro to the track and overall feel always reminded me of the surface of mars. It's so tactile and defined, nothing comes close.

One of the reasons why the drumming sounds so original is because BB uses ample and creative silences and spacing. That's an art in itself. To control the tendency to play several notes. Only a few drummers in a rock context can do this. It is more common in jazz where drummers most come down to let other musicians improvise.
Red is my favorite tune by King Crimson this is my favorite album by King Crimson.
And Great Deceiver

This was their coolest song in my opinion.
The space between attacks is deafeningly sweeet!! Isn't it sweet?
I love this song along with Red. 2 OUTSTANDING songs from an OUTSTANDING album.
Great drummer

I love this song, the riffs, the melodies but mostly for Bill Bruford's amazing drumming and percussions.

A real toe tapper the crowd can clap along to with the band.
Hicior z programu "Mądrej Głowie" z lat 80-tych z TVP.
A hit from the "Wise Head" program from the 1980's on Polish Television.
Masterpiece.
What a shame this album never got a tour. Never got to play the first 3 tracks live with Wetton, and never got the final version of Starless live with this lineup either.
Excellent album
Its the first time hearing this album and this band. I did hear a song by this band on a movie called "mandy" these guys are so underrated
Happy birthday, Bill Bruford!

A-men!
Whenever the dumb neighbors start acting up by playing their shit Top 40 wallpaper pop music, RED by King Crimson is always my go-to album for blasting in retaliation.
I blast 'Flakes' by Zappa.
In League With Satan by Venom is the best neighbor drowning out music. Not only will they be annoyed but they will now be scared of you.
5:32 from this point on, the tune has a remarkable resemblance with Pink Floyd's "Shine On Your Crazy Diamond" part 5.
Not note by note of course, but if you're familiar with PF piece, you might notice. Even the guitar in the background sounds familiar.
Except that this album came out one year before Wish You Were Here
