worked on originally as 'makin Love' was written by Paul Rodgers and worked on in the studio on 19.3.1971 ( 5 years to the day following dear Koss would be dead) 27 different takes later lyrics and music had become 'Only my soul' the 'B' side of the 'My Brother Jake' single the latter was written mainly by Andy Fraser if my memory serves me well.
It's very similar in groove to the song "Rain" that they did around this time that missed the cut for the Highway album. To me it sounds like an embryonic version of that beautiful style they caught on record with "Child", on Free at last.
