I put a copper band (just a pipe nipple from the hardware store) over the bottom of a walking stick that I made. I left some empty space between the bottom of the stick and the end of the copper. I filled that space with sand and rubber until it reached the edge of the copper. I then put a rubber tip on the copper. I believe that the sand and rubber dampens some of the impact of the stick hitting the ground when I walk.

Do they cause any issue going thru metal detectors at airports ?
