Shades of Tchai Pas ! I knew it came fromn Swan Lake, but never saw this version before...so far, the adage and womans's solo from Tchai Pas have rung out loud and clear from that smaller Tchaikofsky masterpiece, thanks to Georgre Balanchine' choreographic geniius.
Many people seem atonished because Odile is in white tutu. This version was coreographed by Jack Carter and respond to the original partiture of Tchaikovsky (Pas de fiance is a logical presence, just not only the vals brides dance, every princess has to try to be seductive to Sigfried). Odile in white, makes more sense, for cheating Sigfried and getting his betrayal to Odette. At the end of Act III, after Sigried accepts to marry Odile, Odette appears in scene confronting an Odile, who laugh to her and the Prince. The first perfomarce of this origianl version, took place at Colon theater on 1963 with Norma Fonlenla (Odette) and Esmeralda Agoglia (Odile). During more than 30 years was the oficial version of Swan Lake at Colon Theater. The total performace on four acts, lasted 4:00 h, considering the intermedies. Later, Colon Theater produced the reposition of the mos known reduced version of Petipa Ivanov, with the famous Black Swan (which is a pas de deux, form the first act, See Nureyev Version at Paris Opera)
I also listened to the full score of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake; and as much as I know, in his original score, the variation at 08:00 was supposed to be the solo of Odile from his original 'Black Swan Pas de Deux'.
Andrada Orodan Hello, thanks for the interest on my comment. The first question done by yourself: If you listen a full length record of Swan Lake ( Previn, as an example) when the final scene of third act is played: Siegfried chooses Odile as his bride to be, the music plays a short part of the brides ‘s waltz, where is danced by Odile and Siegfried . Suddenly the orchestra interrupts the waltz and a melody play by the oboe stars. It represents Odette. In Carter’s version, on a window, where is illuminated as a sunset, appears Odette, who enters to the ball room and shows Siegfried his mistake in considering Odile as herself. Odile mocks to Odette and Siegfried and laugh to all of the presents ( trumpets sound which are based in the music who characterized Odette) Von Roghtbart destroys the castle and cygnets appears to comfort the distressed Swan Queen. Second: Odile is dressed in white, because if Siegfried confuses her by Odette, is supposed that Odile should not be dressed in black ( See, that in some versions the black tutu has some feathers in white) Anyway, the white tutu designed for Odile, had an ivory color, not pure white color as used by Odette. Anyway Colón ‘s Theater after more than 30 years of this version, changed it to a short one. Carter’s version lasted almost 3:00 h. ( without considering the intermissions) Swan Lake is a very well beloved ballet in Argentina and in next December will be performed at Colón Theater (Buenos Aires) and you will be able to see it by streaming. Enter to the Theater Web, pulse live transmission and you will read the Day performance chooses for this transmission. @@luisfedericosala1354 this is so intresting, I saw your comment on the Royal Ballet's version of Swan Lake, I'm currently dancing it with my company/school, thank you for sharing your knowledge
Who did this choreography? I've seen gpd fiancees as a repertory piece and have always wanted to see it as part of Act 3. And I guess this economizes on the tutus for Odette/Odile! Thx for posting!

This version of Swan Lake was always my favorite and keeps fidelity’s to Tchaikovsky’s score. 👍👍👍👍
