You should really be using a torque wrench on every Bolt. Halfords do a great set that I have, I use it on everything and tighten to spec as much as I can. The main reason I do this is because metal has a tensile strength and if bolts are over tightened they lose their durability and if bolts are too loose, the threads wear down as the bolt will move when under load. I also recommend using a tiny smidge of Loctite on anything that has a constant rotation against it.
