  • I thought I would do a brief hobby room tour after I re-arranged it to make space for resin 3D printing. Unfortunately the delivery of the printer and the wash and cure station has been delayed but it does give me time to prepare.

I long for a hobby room as yours bright and roomy but the back room at home serves it's purpose tho small.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree with light, I had the choice of this room or another which although similar size its layout was better so would have more 'wall' space but never gets good natural light.

My hobby room has a lot of parallel to yours, as deep down us modellers do all think alike 🙂 Mine is still a work in progress, as I took over a bedroom to make it my hobby room. I am yet to erect shelves on an entire wall and install a spay booth with venting it through the window. I got some good ideas from your video, so thank you very much. Would love to see your video when it is completed. One point through, you might want to do something about your microphone, as you have a low voice and it does come through somewhat unclear. Happy modelling.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Agree about the sound. I use an iPhone so possibly not the best, saying that I am a bit of a mumbler so even the best microphone might not help! I'll see what I can do. Cheers

After listening to you voice and your reply using the word mumbler, I take it that you're living in Australia. I live in Perth Western Australia.

Hi Plunging Fire, Thank you for the tour. Your room is very neat and tidy, just what I would expect after seeing your build videos. I really enjoy seeing how others set up their work space. Which 3D printer are you getting? I've been looking at several of them. I want to get one but I am a complete novice too. There are so many different types out there it's hard to decide. I had thought about starting with a filament printer to learn the basics before moving into resin printing. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Thanks Jeff, I was always going to go for resin printing as focus is on small detailed model parts. The main criteria for me was had to be a minimum x-y resolution of 34 microns. Not wanting to sink too much money into this I looked at older models and settled on a Anycubic Mono 2. An older model but still 4k and was on sale so went with that. From what I've read and watched it generally gets good reviews as being a capable entry level printer and value for money. I have designed a couple of parts so far ready to print. Resin is a lot messier than FDM as you probably know requiring post processing so went with the Anycubic Wash and Cure 2.0 as again older model and on sale.

It doesn't look like a typical modeling room. Most have shelving units stacked with kits and the work bench has tools on both sides with the main project in the center of the chaos. That's what a real hobby room looks like ! Neatness is important only for keeping track of parts inside a small plastic box. That's our neatness for most of us. But that's the model builders atmosphere. This guys hobby room is way too prestine and organized and he has a very few builds to show! Boring hobby room! He has nothing to show! That's not a real model builder!
