When they got back to Cheyenne, I bet that everyone who did the round trip thought to themselves, "Over too soon!"
American Train Beautiful Catches! I hope you had a great time chasing that legendary locomotive. I got the 4014 at Tie Siding and Cheyenne. I just subscribed too.
32:16 i actually teared up a bit lol
The only engine thats missing from this picture is Challenger 3985
4014 is using 3985 tender, they haven't converted 4014's over to burn oil yet.
Nobody has yet shown the interior of the cab with 'dash board' and controls?
Magnificent!! is still an inadequate description.
Go look on MP's UA-cam channel, their last video shows the cab view of the engine.
Love these engines. I was growing at the time of their ending in service in the late 1940's and early 1950's.
Just spot on guys just simply the best.....just spot on.....I can not say thankyou enough to all of you as union pacific for making all of this possible...my father used to tell me about steam engine and now I can say that I got to experience what he talked so fondly of so once again thankyou so very much
Thanks to Ed Dickens and the whole UP steam team for such a thrilling first run for Big Boy and for getting home safe. I live in Wyoming and it was a special treat to see this train making the run to Ogden and back being greeted by such crowds all along the way. Makes me proud to live in Wyoming. Welcome Home!
American Train Beautiful Shots Of The Big Boy!
Awesomeness!! Thankyou from New Zealand :)
Great shots. You did a great job. Thank you
Thank you for sharing these beautiful.excellent video
The second steam engine appears to be a 4-8-4 Northern from Union Pacific.
7:20 Howling dynamic brakes, perfect. Keeping the monsters under control.
But why is the audio so bad I mean I know it was windy but why did they not cover up the microphone🤔🤔🤔
Sensacional!! Magnífica!!! A melhor locomotiva construída até hoje! Obra-prima da engenharia! Os USA são os melhores! Parabéns ao povo e ao governo americano,!!!! Pena, aqui no Brasil, ser diferente....
The Big Boy dream lives!
thank you from Australia
Why where the driving wheels dirty?
Well done!
so very Awesome American Train :)
Great video. Eager to see it when it comes through our town here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Anyone know what the 3rd car from the back with the hump on top is about?
Will Crawford generator for auxiliary power to the coaches.
@@daviddowling9830 Thanks David
Will Crawford: . . Car #2066 is a one-of-a-kind Power Car with a varied and interesting history. The Union Pacific Historical Equipment webpage briefly describes this car in a PDF that includes a floor plan schematic. For more in depth info, see the forum Trainorders.com where there is a lengthy discussion that includes a generous, well written and detailed post from a retired UP employee ('Empire Builder') that had hands on experience with these cars. Highly recommended reading. Hope this is of some help.
@@markdombek2551 Thanks. I live near the main N-S on the Pacific Coast and see a lot of interesting stuff come thru here.
NICE ! ! !
7:19 dang that must be quite a steep grade cause that diesels working really hard down the hill
The diesel engine is nothing more than a traveling genset on that train. It's there for dynamic braking if needed, but otherwise is just supplying power to the passenger cars.
@@jackbelk8527 that's what I'm saying, it's working hard to break the engine down the steep grade, sorry if it wasn't clear enougj
@@jackbelk8527 Doesn't UP have a HEP car negating that need? Pretty sure I can hear at least one car in this consist that has an IC engine aboard. My thoughts are the diesel is primarily there for DB and in case something happens to 4014 (these are break in runs, afterall.) It's a pretty short train, so 844 should be able to handle it by herself (sans the deadweight of 4014.)
Chris Lindsey: . . You are correct, in that there are designated Power Cars to supply the HEP (Head End Power - electric and steam) to the train. The GE diesel #2650 (ET44), would have no need for generating power other than for its own purpose of supplying power to its trucks to pull freight. Power Car #209, the 'Howard Fogg' is 2nd behind the ET44 diesel and Power Car #2066 (not named) is the hump back car 3rd from the end. Hope this is of some help.
Well done gents and ladies.
Excellent!
If anyone has noticed 4014 is only running on 3 cylinders.. the right front cylinder seal is blown...
I did i earlier comment. I saw serious leaking on piston rod
It's only the packing in the gland that keeps blowing. It's a simple job to sort it, but not while the loco is running. If it were more serious than that, the crew would fail the loco.
Cylinder shaft seal leak was known on the short trial run. Not considered serious enough to keep it from making this run. It had to make this run!
Roger Downs Thanks for this response, Roger. Are you part of the maintenance team?
ED Dickens and the crew really deserve to be in there (the cops don't!)
Hey this a fraud. The 844 is doing all the work. 4014 is just making steam for visual effects. I am so disappointed
