Dr. Joe Sepulveda discusses the recent fentanyl epidemic: what makes this drug so dangerous, why the problem has worsened in recent years, and what we can do as a society to de-stigmatize life-saving treatment options for opioid users.
Dr. Joe Sepulveda has extensive knowledge of addiction and substance abuse. In this presentation, Dr. Sepulveda will discuss the steadily worsening phenomenon of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), the fastest-growing cause of drug overdoses in America today. OUD is a particularly life-threatening form of drug addiction due to several factors discussed in this presentation. You’ll learn why marginalized populations are at high risk of OUD, what makes opioids so dangerous and widely accessible, and what we as a society can do to destigmatize certain treatment approaches that are effective and life-saving for those caught in the grips of opioid addiction.
