- Hey guys hope you enjoy this quick range test from my backyard with the DJI mini 2 se from standing in my kitchen. Had me stressing the whole time but absolutely incredible what it is capable of. Before this filming. Flight brief was completed. (Checked for aircraft, planned direction of flight, and journey flight path)
If you guys would like to see more of this stuff on my channel or make a completely different channel for this stuff please let me know in the comments below.

I feel your nervousness I feel the same way when fly my mini 2 se far away. Great video! Cant go wrong with the mini 2 se.
Dude well done... I was felling nervous for ya, I've my mini 2 and never had it in me to just send it... I just panic at not seeing it - Great video!
@@Seb-Ramirez trust me doesnt come without alittle stress sweating the first time.
That was awesome bro. I test mine yesterday just loving it. 👍💯
@@furgellvanrabenswaay3483 how did you make out on the test exceed your expectation. Thank you so much ❤️
I went to the park and weather was good@@treynolds94
That was awesome man! I had no idea you guys could fly so high up there. Sweet! It’s really cool that you had so much battery left after that flight too. Mini 2 rocks!
Thank you so much really appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoyed. I didnt think I would have that much battery left when landing aswell. But I guess makes sense since I was going up and out the entire time and not down and back home. So pretty much can come to the conclusion that my signal will probs go before the battery when flying out from my place which I would prefer cause it will come home hopefully. Basically 0 regulations with micro sub 250g drones. Only places you cant fly are class F airspace so like military bases amd restricted notams Parliment hill, prime minister residence. But other then that free to go where ever just use good judgement and dont be dumb.
I get mine tomorrow!!! I’m so excited. I literally cannot wait.
@@treynolds94dang that’s crazy! But awesome! Lol. We have a lot of no fly zones here and have a 400 ft height limitation. It’s still a lot of fun to fly drones though even with our rules. Lol.
@@VulcanReduxVulcan, you’re gonna love it!
@@WeretheRoberts I’m literally at work spazzing out like a child lol, I’ve always loved aviation and here recently I’ve been trying to put together a plan for a possible drone side hustle or business in the next year or so, I’m studying for the 107 right now, since in America we have to follow that for “commercial “ flight lol.
Wow, thanks, Tyler!
Seeing Peterborough from the sky like that is really moving for me.
I've taken so many pictures around Peterborough and in the Little Lake cemetery.
Especially of the BLACK ANGEL.
My Hunter Street Bridge.
Where I was in a photo shoot underneath the bridge November 11, 1996 I was freezing!
To the London Street bridge where i lived in the first house on the right as you come across the bridge into East City.
My best friend Buzz Thompson, a famous Peterborough musician, had a house on the other side of the bridge on the second block after the bridge..
May Buzz be resting in peace and love now.
Buzz has a brick down on the Peterborough Walk of Fame.
He always called it "The walk of Shame!"
He played guitar, harp, and sang in Ronnie Hawkins band til he passed a few years ago.
Yesterday was the anniversary of his funeral.
He was related to Del Crary, the park at Little Lake, which is named after, too.
OMG, Tyler, these videos are making me so damn emotional!
Thanks for the memories, buddy!😢❤
I am so glad you are enjoying the videos. Anything in particular you want to see just let me know.
I also live in Canada and this is the exact same drone I have. The farthest I have managed to get this drone is 3500km and I used it to look at a railyard near me, this little thing is quite a capable drone and nothing to scoff at. I have found the DJI software to be quite conservative and limit its range by doing auto RTH, if this drone had all manual controls, I think one could push maybe push upto 4500m on a nice day albeit at the cost of battery health. I see in your case you still had 44% battery left when you landed.
GREAT VIDEO!!!
Nice video. Got my DJI 2 SE a couple of weeks back and saw this. I grew up in your neighbourhood and know exactly where that is so it was cool to see all the landmarks in my old stomping ground. My parents house is in your video, fairly close to yours. You totally could break 4km with the right conditions. No wind or a small headwind out would be ideal for the trip back.
Thats awesome born and raised just bought in the south end 4 years ago thus month. Love this area and alway find it cool to see it on videos. Which there are more of since we are growing so fast. Defs doing another range test in better conditions. Thank so much for wlmuch for watching really appreciate it. Just doing it for fun cool to see people watching. Probs getting alittle riskier then I should since Iam poor and cant replace but if it is entertaining atleast 1 person its worth it. Love from old stomping grounds.❤️
Great video! I am planning on getting the mini 2 se in a couple days. Originally from Lindsay Ontario! You have a lot of options to get some incredible footage in that area!
Unfortunately lost Tommy last night over the little lake fountain assuming I got alittle to close and it dropped like a stone into the lake. So will be out of commission for a little while.
@treynolds94 oh no! Did the water from the fountain hit it? That's terrible 😕
@@jasonthompson6267 I am not sure from watching the clip it looks way to sudden also was way higher then the water. Hovering for almost 2 mins until sudden drop. Coworker said maybe a bat I was thinking loose prop.
That looks a lot higher than four hundred feet : most DJI drones can fly up to 1,640 feet high. However, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulates the use of drones in the United States and has set a maximum altitude limit of 400 feet for both recreational and commercial drone flying.Feb 2, 2024
Our drone regulations are not regulated by the FAA but Transport Canada. Our sub 250g/micro drones pretty much have 0 regulations and very lax until you go over 250g. No height, VLOS, flying over people or cars and no airspace restrictions other then notams and Class F. Section 9 of CARs is the only must we have to follow which is do not fly in a manor to likely cause injury or what we like to call in the Canadian drine community the dont be stupid rule. Thank you for watching hope you enjoyed. Hopefully the FAA lightens up on your sub 250g rules.

@treynolds94 they won't lol. They're currently trying to ban DJI drones in the US
@@thezombieslayer100 lots of paranoia goung on right now. Trying to scare people with images being captured that you literally can see from google earth.
So awesome to watch, I'm still a newb and am afraid to loose eye sight of my drone. 🙈
Yo will get there my friend. 4 weeks with my first ever drone and I am getting alittle too comfortable with it. I really cant loose it cause also cant afford to just go buy a new one. But RTH is amazing and the idiot proof for individuals like me really hard to loose unless your really really dumb. Iam only really dumb.
@@treynolds94 Well I had a really REALLY dumb moment, first time I lost connection, lost it behind a fence I panicked, tried to climb the fence as I wanted my drone back well ended up with 5 stiches in my hand, completely torn jeans to in the end find out RTH does work 🤣🤣🤣
@@walker1583 Ill defs be sure to take some pointers from you in not what to do. Lol Glad your okay and it wasnt a 50lb drone cause you maybe not be with us. Your head would of been on the other side of the fence.
Wow, nice video. I also have the DJI Mini 2 SE. I'm very satisfied.
visual flight and maximum 120 meters (transport Canada)
For under 250g 120m and vlos are shoulds and good practice but not a required must to follow. There is a micro drone chart from Transport Canada with must regulations and shoulds which are good practice but not required two different things.
tc.canada.ca/sites/default/files/2020-06/2019-2020-AA-33_INFOGRAPHIC_EN_V8.pdf
What you can do with your micro (sub 250 gram) drones in Canada is fairly unrestricted. According to Transport Canada, micro drone pilots are allowed to fly their drones higher than 122 metres (400 feet) and within 3 nautical miles of an airport, as well as closer than 30 metres horizontally from bystanders
Beware of the drone police in the comments like this 🤡
@@treynolds94 I'm in Canada and the 120 meters limit is applicable even with drones under 250 grams too. I know the paper you showing is not clear, but I called transport Canada about that, and it's the law, not a recommendation.
Nice flight. If you touch the warning note in the top left while flying it will disappear. I've done a few flights up to 500m AGL, and I've learned to always do these flights upwind as the windspeed can increase a lot with altitude. I use the NAVCAN app for high flights and take a screenshot when it says "APPROVED" Then it can be added to the beginning or end of the video to silence the Karens.
Awesome thank you so much that is actually a big help.
Superb footage! I love the effort u put into ur vids!!!!
Just a quick tip: In the moments that you don’t speak, you could add some music
Good evening thank you so much. You are absolutely right Ive watched it over myself and relised I should of just had some background music the entire time. Wasnt sure how the music would go over or under myself talking but with the bit of music I did have worked really well. Honestly if you have any other tips I really appreciate it. Have an absolutely fantastic rest of your week and weekend.
Would you recommend this as a first real drone?
@@ricedbroccoli 100% absolutely.
, does the camera have a portrait mode?
Unfortunately no portrait mode.
How did you record the screen while flying?
I just screen recorded my phone screen.
@@treynolds94 ok thanks
Halo Indonesia❤
you could of gone further then set the drone to come home at 90 meters and saved a lot of battery, the higher you go the more battery due to the air and wind up a lot higher is harder on the motors... should switched to imperial .you were just 2 meters from exactly 2 miles distance.. . 10 mins flight left but that could of been longer if not so high coming home.. once yo ugot to destination should let it come hom much lower to saev your battery and motors plus keep the guts cooler.... great vid espacially just going from the back yard and trees all around you .....
You are absolutely right. On the way home I did realise that it would not of taken as much battery going down and getting out of the harder winds. For my first drone and range test the anxiety was real. This test defs made me way more comfortable and trusting of Tommy. Definitly will be doing more of these test with Tommy. Thank you so much look forward to the next range test where I put all the new tips I have learned and get over that 2 mile mark from my backyard.
Beware of the drone police in the comments who have no life.
Thanks I ve done alot of research on where I can can not fly with micro drones with Transport Canada. People can bring up the FAA all they want this isnt the US.
Unbelievable. Your the reason we are going to loose our right to fly. VLOS and 400 feet.
Learn micro drone rules in Canada with Transport Canada. Nothing was against any regulations. No height vlos for sub 250g.
