    Adobe Stock tells us that a great title, in addition to great keywords, will help buyers find your photos, illustrations, generative AI images and videos. I cover the five essential steps to writing the best possible title, and I review the latest uploads to AdobeStock, rating them as DO THIS or DON'T DO THIS.

      @@MicrostockLife I have a question, that you may help me on. When I do my AI, the images that look real, like a photo, I wait about 2 weeks for review, but if I put a similar one in as illustration, it get reviewed in a couple of hours. I'm not sire if an illustration can be found as easy, by the customer, as a photo. What do you think?

    Thank you so much for another very informative video. I have been in the stock photography business for the last three years and after watching this very helpful video I realise the mistakes I’ve been making in writing descriptions. Your advice has been extremely helpful. One question - why do Adobe give room for 200 characters if only 70 or so are desirable? What harm is there if someone uses, say, 100 characters? Thanks again for your valuable advice.

    Is title more important or the keywords? I have been focusing more on the keywords till now. In description, I usually write basic things about my subject. Like "A Golden Jackal wandering in the fields". Should I include more words like "Wildlife", "Mammal" etc in the description? Or is it enough to have them in keywords?

    Thanks so much for another useful video. They help a lot.
    Could you please help with some problems that come up when writing titles and keywords. If it's too long to write an answer, if you can mention them in a future video that would also be very helpful.
    1. If 200 characters are allowed for the title, wouldn't it be ok to make full use of them to include as many (relevant) words that customers might use to search? Sometime restricting to 70 or 80 means we have to leave out important relevant words. Would it affect adversely for us if we use close to 200?
    2. If a word is repeated in the title but is actually relevant, is that allowed? Eg. White man in white shirt driving a white car.
    3. What is actually considered as "copy space"? Does it have to be an empty or vacant space without any objects (eg. wall, clear sky, blank board etc.) or can it be any part of the image even with some objects (eg. furniture, trees) but text can be added on top without covering the main subjects?
    If there's a small part like that in the image where a few words can be added, can we take it as copy space or should there be a minimum area or any other specifications?
    4. In keywords, should words that are used as categories be written in singular or plural even if the image has only one? Eg. if there's one elephant in the picture, should we write "animal", "mammal" or animals", "mammals" or both forms, since the broad category is usually written in plural (like vehicles, fruits, vegetables, people etc.) though the picture has only one.
    5. Regarding verbs, in which form should they be written?
    Eg. eat/eats/eating, discuss/discussing/discussion.
    Because customers can search in any of these forms is it better to include all of them?
    6. Words that are spelt different ways (eg. color/colour, center/centre, organisation/organization, healthcare/ health care) should we include both forms for keywords since customers can use any form?
    I know this is quite a lot but they cause a lot of practical problems. Hope you can help to clarify these issues.
    Thanks a lot

    I sell simple backgrounds with a grainy texture.
    Is it advisable to use fewer keywords (max. 10)
    or rather several (approx. 25)? I personally think that
    10-12 are enough to describe a background.
    I don't know what sells better.
    What is your opinion on this?

    Im also a full time microstock artist. Part of my approach involves organizing my uploads by year (e.g., 2024, 2023, 2022) and even by month, to closely monitor how each batch performs over time. This method has highlighted that my files from 2018-2019 have far outperformed my recent uploads, despite improvements in quality and market alignment. It seems older files not only sold faster but have maintained higher earnings over time.
    Have you noticed a similar pattern with your uploads? Specifically, do your files from the last couple of years also underperform compared to those from 2018-2019? I'm interested in whether you use a similar organizational strategy and how you interpret these shifts in file performance. Any insights on adapting to the evolving market would be greatly appreciated.

      @MicrostockLife  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi. Thanks for that detailed description! I have not analyzed my sales by year but it sounds like an interesting way to look at it. I do sometimes feel like my new work doesn't sell much but then I remind myself that my 2024 output so far is under 800 files out of a portfolio of more than 32,000 so they wouldn't necessarily be very prominent as I watch the downloads. If I do a breakdown like this I will do a video. Great idea!

    • @pedroneves5864
      @pedroneves5864 4 місяці тому

      @@MicrostockLife A particularly illustrative method I’ve used involves comparing the total earnings of my 2019 images in 2020-allowing a full year's performance analysis-and dividing it by the total number of images created that year to calculate the average earnings per image. Repeating this process for sales in 2023 from images created in 2022 and observing the difference in average earnings has highlighted a notable decline in performance for newer images.
      This approach has been invaluable for understanding changes over time, including the apparent increase in competition and the difficulty in achieving widespread visibility for newer content.

    Is it worth going into my previously accepted images on Adobe Stock and revising titles and/or keywords, not changing those that are currently selling, but revising others? Could I remove the previous keywords of "generative", "ai", and "generative ai" since they are now marked that way? Thank you again for your very helpful content. It is really helping me to see what I need to do and get better each day.

    Hi! I just analyzed my 30 best-selling all-time images by their titles, and it comes out that the average number of characters per title is 109, with among the 30 there are both images that have 190-200 characters and those that have just 40-50 characters.
    Also, 13 images have titles longer than 100 chars and 17 have less than 100, but when I look at just my top-ten best sellers than it looks like this:
    1. 193
    2. 90
    3. 197
    4. 176
    5. 84
    6. 163
    7. 93
    8. 72
    9. 66
    10. 67
    So I wonder how much the length of the title actually matters for Adobe, considering other factors like using the right keywords and so on. I'm not convinced that the lenght is actually important?

    • @MicrostockLife
      @MicrostockLife  4 місяці тому +2

      I wonder the same. But in researching over the past few weeks, I've found many places where Adobe has been really pushing the 70 number as being ideal for the algorithm. It's hard to know for sure how much difference it really makes. But in these times of ultra competition due to AI and more contributors than ever, many people are looking for any little edge that could possibly help. And if Adobe says it will help, I'd like to think we can believe they are giving good advice here.

    • @BartekWinnicki
      @BartekWinnicki 4 місяці тому

      Also, when you look at top-10 of the best selling ai generated images the number of characters in the titles has a very large spread:
      1. 76
      2. 125
      3. 67
      4. 28
      5. 114
      6. 182
      7. 109
      8. 65
      9. 43
      10. 120
      So do you think the number of characters actually has any effect on Adobe's algorithm?
