I wonder if the US would be stupid enough to lease their most advanced Virginia class submarine to Australia instead of leasing some from the older blocks, which are still far more advanced than anything Australia has ever had?
@@gayprepperz6862we want AU to have parity in capability with us to deter Chinese aggression. This includes the AU ability to build, repair and maintain VA class at a comparable level to US. This solves most problems of previous transfers of submarine technology. The only stupid thing here is the ignorance of then breadth and depth of this program.
@@Awesomes007Not understanding your point. Are you for, or against this transfer? AU will gain the ability to maintain VA class subs. My question to the original poster was why would we give them the latest and most up to date VA subs (and deprive ourselves of it), when we can still give the VA subs of previous blocks that would still be far more advanced than than anything AU has, and also equal to the task of competing with China's submarines? I just don't get your point, and I'm not trying to be arrogant or disrespectful by stating that. Can you be more specific? I really do want to understand your point about the program. You obviously have misgivings, specify, if you don't mind- please.
Such Impressive Technology -- SHOULD "ALWAYS-ALWAYS" Name US Capital Ships After US STATES, LEGENDARY US BATTLEGROUNDS, OR.. NAMES OF US CITIZENS WHO "SERVED ACTIVELY" IN THE US MILITARY..... Never, Ever anything - anyone just Political.
The state of Arizona can never have a ship or submarine named after it anymore? The Arizona was stricken off the active ship lists. Arizona and Oklahoma haven't had a ship named after them since WWII. Time to revive the name and honor the States as all of the others are. It bothered me a bit at first, but I think now it's the right thing to do. It doesn't any way diminish the respect and honor due to the battleship. The fact that they're naming a submarine and not another battleship salves my conscience as well.
....and yet, the Seawolf class, especially the USS Jimmy Carter are still considered to be the best attack submarines in the world.
By what criteria?
@@Awesomes007the category of a Hunter Killer based on armament capacity, speed, dive depth, and quietness.
What’s sad is knowing our navy needs around twenty more of these submarines today and not yrs from today !
Now that was a swing….👊🏻🇺🇸
Very interesting, informative and worth to listen and watch. Thank you. You design, build and keep them fit to fight, are you? Wisely though

Where's the 'Launch' video?
I wonder if this wonderful submarine potentially becomes Australia's first leased SSN (AUKUS) in a few years?

Why build a submarine and name it U.S.S. Arizona? Men are still aboard her!
