Drew Pritchard is a good salesman. Plus has genuine enthusiasm for craftmanship over the centuries and has and is still learning about the history of items. Joy to watch. Belvoir Castle is in Leicestershire and the town of Grantham is in Lincolnshire. Just about 7 miles away. Different counties. Voice over should have been given more information on that fact. .
Found out recently that for a sundial to work the angle of the gnomon has to be the same as the degree of latitude of the place it's in (and also pointing due north if in northern hemisphere and vice versa). If not it's just - in this case - an expensive garden ornament.
The one downside to this program is the prices encourage the theives i had a house and garden nr bath and loads and loads of bsth stone planters and a rare su dial stolen
He loooooved what he bought completely falls in love, only to sell them. If he bought those chairs for 20,000 he’d probably sell them even though he says he wouldn’t lol.
I like the way drew respected the guys knowledge by offering 20k for the grotto chairs even after he was told they cost the guy just £750 for the pair 👏
For some reason I find this guy a bit of a weasel !! He gives a reasonable price because he’s on tele and knows his rep is on the line , just something about him that has an underlying greediness. I understand he must make a profit but aghhh. Just my thoughts really lol 😝
My friend, hes planning to double up the prices or something similar. Anything you buy new in your store has been multiplied by 5 or 6, its china shit. Also they order their stuff with a mouse click. He has to drive very far, takes risks and doubles or tripples the money, thats not much, thats honest work.
He is tight mind. If you watch the American Pickers they will always give more if they think it's worth more than what the seller's wanting. Not like Drew
Drew will definitely do this too! Even more so on this show cause of the culture there. American pickers is way more penny scrapping in my opinion. And the American pickers don’t restore. They sell AS IS
You need to buy at roughly 30-50% or you will go broke. That’s how every dealer and pawn shop in history works. You have no idea the overheads for travel, fuel, storage, advertising, maintenance, wages, rent, insurance, etc that goes into bringing a single item, be it £10 or £1000 to market for the convenience of the customer. If somebody genuinely doesn’t know the market value of something, he tells them, especially if general public. If someone offers a price in that 30-50% range, like another dealer, then he buys. It’s how it works.
The owner likely had a hefty profit margin himself and knows he could get much more for it. He just doesn't want it to sit in the yard for another 3 years waiting for the right customer. He's not stupid. He made his profit.

Really? The markup is not all profit - cost of the business has to be covered. - employee salaries, utilities, insurance, tax, rent etc.
