Been having a lil animation meme burnout so to get myself into it again I was testing to animate with the brush tool instead of the line tool. It made me realise that linearting wasn't as exhausting as with the pen tool, but coloring this was a pain-
Even though the lineart isn't as clean as in my usual works, I felt like I could get a bit more loose with the animation process, which was a super refreshing change. I needed that...

@@cupidsheartbow6299 This scene is actually their first meet up. Chroma was about to kill Eev, but didn't because Eev reminded him of his ex. Eev encouraged Chroma to kill him because he was in a really bad state mentally

i love the way these characters are designed! theyre so simple in colors in shape so they rely on big expression and movement and it all culminates into a very satisfying design for characters. good job spy!
This is so freaking good. I always love your animation style and character designs. I really feel like the simpler design for these characters just highlights how good you are with the facial expressions and 'shot' compositions.
I love how much emotion you manage to bring out of a face that is just an orb with a pair of stylistic eyes and a simple mouth!
I love how in the first two shots, you clearly relate them because it's not just the one in the front looking back, the one in the back also starts looking back, this in retrospect gives us the full body view of when they look back at one another-

Okay crazy theory -
The first time I ever watched this I thought May and Eev were like the same person but with switching personalities or something, but after going through the QNAs on insta recently I’m starting to think that the way May flashed in Eev’s place and the frame of May pulling away from Chroma and the animation before the “how do you fuck up a croissant” of May going “hi Chroma~” makes me think Chroma and May used to be a thing or they have a complicated relationship going, and maybe Chroma has a lot of pain from that and can’t help but compare the two. (I haven’t read the WON doc yet since I just found out it’s a thing like last week so I could be theorising for nothing and it’s probably right there lmao but that’s just what I’m thinking ^^’’)
