For anyone looking for a slightly modified version of this, there's a legendary weapon that increases all of your damage by about 250% if you are channelling any of Arcane Torrent, Disintegrate, or Frost Beam. If you get that like I did before getting the signature weapon enhancemnt, you can take frost beam that amps damage by 15% vs cold targets. You play more at a range, and you don't need to worry about building up the 5 signature hits before casting the hydra. You can just double cast hydras, drop blizzard, and beam until targets are dead.
Hey, great video. Very thorough. I just started season 28 three days ago after being away from D3 for years. Your guide put me on the right track for an attainable build. By chance I came across a pair of set rings with sockets called "Bastions of Will." The 2 piece bonus on this set is to increase your damage by 50% any time you hit with a resource generating skill, AND another 50% when you hit with a resource spending skill. Each buff lasts for 5 seconds. Spectral blades, and Blizzard meet those criteria so its a HUGE boost in damage over the stone of jordan I had been using yesterday. Since completing the build with non-ancient or primal pieces (today) I jumped up to the trillions of damage when all the buffs are up. I can't imagine what this is going to do with primals later on. Thanks again!
Only one issue for me personally, because barrier blades is one of our skills, it virtually makes the playstyle of the build problematic as you are now having to proc the massive defense that Karini ring provides (which requires you to stay outside of melee range in order for it to be active) then walk in for barrier blades shielding then come out before the Karini buff drops or you are dead. This sort of in and out playstyle is more hassle than its worth in my opinion. I will use electrocute signature skill to proc my dynamo passive more often for1 or 2 gr tiers worth of dmg increase roughly.
To my surprise, the barrier blades shield occurs with a cast of ANY spell, not just barrier blades. The proof is the buff appears with your other buffs. It makes life a lot easier not having to run up and scratch at mobs to get the shield.
ah yes, this is the greatest thing Ive seen yet. coupled with the power to summon 2 hydra, and I was able to push far in a very short amount of time. just running and gunning, nuking everything in my path. a literal glass cannon if they can survive the sheer onslaught of hydra damage. 10 heads are better than 5, was able to get 400 paragon in a single nights playtime.
Just made this build because I had about 96% of the gear…and it wrecks. I don’t have all of the gear optimized with gems, primals, re-rolls…and I’m hitting for 10-70 billion damage when things get going. Definitely good for what I’m looking for, thanks!
I still love my OG tal rasha, ungimped etched sigil wizard more, just raining meteors down with a channeling build. But this, and maybe the inna monk change, are my favorite updates to a set playstyle.
so i know the video itself is from last season, but on the maxroll page its saying take full 200 pts in attack speed plus all these attack speed rolls, u hit 30 frames per attack at 161 paragon in attack speed and can dump rest into crits which is what the guide says the most important attack speed breakpoint is w/ cubed tasker n theo. this is with 0 gear rolls for attack speed meaning more crit/surv stats on gear (season 29 commenter here). or can go further and get attack speed on weapon plus 3 other rolls plus 161 paragon OR weapon plus 2 others plus 196 paragon to hit 24 frames per attack

I just keep waiting for anyone, Icy Veins, MaxrollGG or here to post the guide on trap DH. I assume they are intentionally saving that one for last since its the most hyped class change of the season.
I think they're waiting because the feedback from the PTR was that the trap build was massively busted and would in all likelihood be nerfed before launch.
I had no idea the hydras counted as pets, so I was never using Enforcer or Tasker and Theo. Amazing what a difference that makes. While I mostly copied this build, I went with Force Weapon instead of Absolute Zero. The black hole could beat 20% if you hit enough enemies, but I just find magic weapon easier to use and one less thing I have to think about. I also don't have a Squirt's Necklace, so for now I'm using an ancient Hellfire Amulet with the Arcane Dynamo passive. Having a fifth passive on this build is a pretty good option. All in all I still can't make a set that does better than my Tal Rasha build, but the Typhon build is the one I find most fun to play.
Hey Rhykker, thanks for the guide! Since this build is good to go for non season, at about what paragon level are the Shame of Delsere and the Blood Bracer better than the Guardian set? Thanks again!
i havent played much of D3. i only played during season 12. im seeing that elemental exposure isnt showing it's being procced in this video. does the passive still proc even tho it's not being shown?
I've been working with Arcane Hydra and with ATR and augs my Hydras are the most powerful arsenal I have. They cost less than Meteor/Blizzard and are more flexible given the 4 heads.
I have one question. Right now just my follower is wearing the Unity ring. That’s a really bad idea right? And when u said to equip the follower whit the vulnerability thing you’re talking about the Enchanting Favor relic(he cant die)? Sorry but I’m new to the game and need some answers 😌
Do you have any feel for which (if any) of the S28 QOL features might be kept permanently? I would love to see the pet continue to pick up Deaths Breaths and rift orbs.
Hello Rhykker!!!! Quick question, you know the T-shirt you do where we can get our name on it? When are you doing it again and do you deliver to South Africa?
The only thing I don't like about this built, is the snapshotting of a build that requires you to recast the main skill, when you get hit. Just work in exact opposite direction.
Typhoon veil can push thru 150 rifts, no problem. Specially with this season altar, my wizard is mighty dangerous. I haven't reach that high, but i saw others doing this no problem. I will take my sweet time and No need to rush.
I dunno if I'll be good enough to really maximize the Hydrocity, but this is really cool and might be where I start because of it being the handout set.
Was wondering, most of the things that actually affect hydras specifically, none of them require different types of damage, thats purepy from passive and secondary legendaries. What the hydra specifics do have tho, is a focus on cold damage, how much would you gain/change/lose by going full cold instead? Not played for years, first time playing wizard so i have no prior knowledge, just curious
I'm confused... are we supposed to put fire damage on the weapon instead of lightning? Otherwise there's no fire to contribute to Elemental Exposure, right?
I got a question to the "snap-shot of your damage" does that also work for Convension of Elements? So that you pop your hydras during cold window and they keep the buff.
@@hurfdurfy8167 So if I cast hydras in fire phase and wont recast in cold phase - then hydras wont benefit from CoE even when cold phase is active since they snapshoted in fire phase ?

It will probably do proper damage without them but keep in mind that those are a lot of additional items that you have to get before the set starts to shine. Especially the Ring of royal grandeur can be a massive (MASSIVE!!!!!) pain in the a** to acquire early on, because of low drop chances in low level bounties but even in T16 public bounties i had season where that thing didn't drop for a long time. Never start a season with a build that really needs that ring.
Thats, uh, thats kinda most builds, and the major diablo 3 flaw in general - most of your dmg is from gear combos. You're probably going to be farming shit tons of bounties next season anyway, and a RORG can at least be 'focus farmed' unlike some other gear - like what, 6 non-set pieces that are also fairly hit and miss? Hell even if you're legendary upgrading at the blacksmith if you've say got a wizard hat, mighty weapon, class offhand, iirc it still needs bounty ingredients. It's just not that big a deal. You won't easily get the six set pieces (especially if not a starter set), and the 3-4 other armor bits you needed RORG for, in less time on average than you could've gotten the ring, too...
@@KeithElliott-zd8cx Sure. However certain builds do take longer to complete early game if bad RNG, monk and wizard weapons for example. Their drop pool is huge and you don't have many materials and blood shards in early game. There is a certain phase in the game that feels very tedious, especially if you are solo self found. Anyway, i can't wait for the new season, my love for Diablo 3 is still strong, those few weeks until i complete the season journey on PC and my switch are a blast every time.
@@pfzt sure, but again, kinda an issue of looters and diablo 3 specifically, that they're RNG timesinks. Even if you have a good shard gambling target or blacksmith upgrade route, it can still be a dozen attempts, and you'll be doing bounties. Bounties aren't the best grind, but are necessary to a degree and aren't something you even need a set to start doing, unlike higher grifts.
hey Rhykker! I just have a question for you or anyone willing to answer : if this is my starter build in order to get to the Tal Rasha build, at what point should I change builds? Do i keep this build until I get every single Item in Tal Rasha's build? Do I need to get all items for the new build with the appropiate stats or should I go fast to that build with what ever drops and then start looking for better gear? Also, what if my starter build feels really good and changing to Tal Rasha's build drops big numbers in damage and or thougness/recovery? can this be a thing? If this is a thing I guess it'd answer my first question and so i'd need to get not only tal rasha's build but also good rolls. Is this correct? Thanks!
I didn't understand storm armors place in this build, can someone please understand why that one? It's not simply because of elemental exposure passive is it?
At 13:28 you say to spam your signature spell THEN drop black hole THEN hydra but later when mentioning arcane dynamo you say to drop black hole first THEN spam signature spell THEN hydra.... which order is best?
Rhykker, you said at 0:40 that this build would be applicable for non season and future seasons. Are you implementing that Activision Blizzard will in fact have more Seasons after Season 28? I was under the impression that Season 28 is going to be the last Season for Diablo 3. Thanks in advance!
@@Rhykker Ah gotcha! Well at least that'll keep the community somewhat engaged to those, like me, that enjoy Diablo 3. Thank you for the response! Happy Hunting to you!
Filthy casual question guys, it days you start the season with this armour do you mean after the campaign? Because I started a new seasonal character but didn't get it? Sorry foe the stupid question, cheers
There are exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, for weapons and armour: ancient (with augments) is more important. For rings and amulets: correct stat rolls are more important.
@@thedon9670 in general, no. Even ryyker said that. Usually it's just another damage boost. However why it's potentially important here was because of the wizard skill to get 5% dmg boost per wiz element used - this doesn't have an 'active' lightning skill. Storm armor can be iffy rather than consistent, so instead adding guaranteed electric dmg thanks to your weapon isn't a bad idea. Its not the biggest deal, if you get an arcane god roll, fuck it. If you're not using that up to 20% dmg skill, or the electric generator, no longer matters if electric is on the weapon or not.
How do people get these gear drops because I can't any hire then a levele 30 rift and I just about complete that. Ive never seen end game in D3 never completed a seasons journey. 😢
Can anyone tell me where the Set dungeon location is for the Hydra. I can't find it anywhere and the tone won't give me a page when I wear all six pieces
Can someone tell me what the main point of Seasons are? OK - so you build this ultra high powered character - then what? It is just about the Leaderboards? I've always struggled with this question. any help much appreciated thanks.
Unlock some stuff each season too. Plus just playing with whatever wonky mechanic they have that season. I generally play a week or two each season and see if I like it enough to try and complete the season journey.
It's basically an excuse to come back to the game, try new shit out. At the very least it's a good way to get sets or find an excuse to play classes you normally don't, if you get burned out going from level 1 to geared on a character.
It makes you feel like you are playing the game for the first time again with an occasional Helping Hand. That's a personal feeling, though. But I can't speak for everyone.
I really hate the Winter Flurry and Magistrate requirement in this build. It essentially forces you into cold damage with Frost Hydras and blizzard. Neither of which are my favourite skills. There's no suitable alternative unfortunately. I wish there were others that let you buff the other elemental hydras. (lightning, arcane, fire)
@@thedon9670 are you referring to Tal Rasha? You're missing my point. The only suitable HYDRA build, is cold damage. Because the itemisation around the few items that buff Hydra damage also intrinsically buff and synergise with cold damage. (this is obviously an issue with many builds/items) If you're saying there is a 'top hydra build' that is lightning damage. Then I apologise, as I clearly don't know what you're referring to, and would appreciate some more info. :)
Magistrate doesn't buff frost hydras more than any other rune, and the cold damage on winter flurry is not the (main) reason people play frost hydra. People play frost hydra because its attack has a big hitbox, allowing it to hit more enemies, especially in big groups. But other (multiheaded) runes are almost as strong as long as you're not pushing very high GRs. Especially lightning can be good (I use it for bounties) due to it's larger range and higher single-target damage. If you play it with stone of jordan (with cold damage) instead of convention of element, then you still benefit from the cold damage of your amulet, bracers and off-hand without having to change gear.
He’s talking about the Convention of Elements ring. It goes through all elements and you can see the element it’s on by the animation that spins around the Wizard. Waiting for the Cold animation/rotation before you cast Cold spells increase the Cold damage.
Nearly 600 paragon in havent found a Serpent's Sparker. See the same 4 wands over and over. I got the 6 piece, rrog in cube, using that amulet, tasker in cube, Fragment of Destiny equipped, got the helm, literally all im missing is that Serpent wand, and the source, but im using the teleport one that gives wormhole and have it set to damage reduction on tele so thats kinda nice. Have diamond skin with movespeed active since i dont have source and dont use blizzard. But dammit, not having the second hydra, thats 20,000% missing damage...

Havent spent much time attempting to push g rifts but did 120, not bad for me considering in previous seasons I played Id struggle to clear 90s solo.
You have multiple options to swap out extra damage for more survival. Take out the 4 element extra damage passive and swap in the one that saves you from death. Take out the extra damage from close range and swap in extra temporary hps.
is the follower still able to be frozen and immobilized even when he is immune to damage? When you get shield phylon the player can't get frozen and immobilized, does the shield phylon and follower immune work different?
No, once you get immunity the follower cannot be frozen/immobilized. So most people actually do not use Ice Climbers on their follower, they use Captain Crimson set for additional CDR
what does farming mean. i know what t16 means, and bounties. but i've seen people say a set isn't good for GR pushing or t16 but great for farming and i don't know what that means specifically
Farming is just rerunning content as fast and efficient as you can. Similar to 'grinding' but for items. Though I've heard some say farm paragon, I think that should be grind paragon.
Fast GR 90s give you the max item drops, you want a set that can run GR 90 in 2-3 minutes over and over as quickly as possible. You use a speed build to wait for Tal Rasha set to drop etc. This is a nice starter set to get you to those goals quickly.
Love the vid. This is my first time not starting out with my barbarian. I see that you have 2 pieces of Cain on your follower. Does the Ring of Royal Grandeur, which is in the cube, effected them because for some reason its not working. Not sure if thats a bug.

At 13:28 you say to spam your signature spell THEN drop black hole THEN hydra but later when mentioning arcane dynamo you say to drop black hole first THEN spam signature spell THEN hydra.... which order is best?
Black hole first, you need the stacks for the hydra
I'm hyped for this build! But wouldn't it be a good idea to put the cool down by 50% relic on the follower? Enforcer saves him
So you lay down black hole before you spam spectral blade then lay the hyrdas with a sprinkle of blizzard?
Hey guys. What's a point to have 5/6 pieces of Typhon set? Im I missing something?
what do you think of cold blooded passive
This is my go to wizard set. I like using pets.
how do you get the starter set? wizard is not my main and have no idea how get the Typhon set
Rhykker, you said at 0:40 that this build would be applicable for non season and future seasons. Are you implementing that Activision Blizzard will in fact have more Seasons after Season 28? I was under the impression that Season 28 is going to be the last Season for Diablo 3. Thanks in advance!
It's safe to assume seasons will continue - but they may just be repeats of old seasons
@@Rhykker Ah gotcha! Well at least that'll keep the community somewhat engaged to those, like me, that enjoy Diablo 3.
Thank you for the response! Happy Hunting to you!
can anyone explain why red gems instead of yellow???
Filthy casual question guys, it days you start the season with this armour do you mean after the campaign? Because I started a new seasonal character but didn't get it? Sorry foe the stupid question, cheers
You have to complete a series of quests in the seasonal section to get it. They come in sets of two
How do you have two force abilities at once?
I can only have one of those at a time?
pushing gr with this is getting really challenging. Gotten to 126 and need a lot more dps to advance
Would you caution against playing this in 4-man group? The variation description seems pretty ominous.
Guys, I need to know. Is it better to go after ancient gear quality first? or the right affixes(on normal legendary quality)?
There are exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, for weapons and armour: ancient (with augments) is more important. For rings and amulets: correct stat rolls are more important.
@@ChristofferFlensburg thx :D
is energy shield viable instead of Storm shield?
Storm armour deals lightning damage no? So lightning roll on weapon is mainly for more consistency and for clearing packs better?
Exactly , storm armor can be inconsistent i guess, and lightning on weapon guarantees proccing it since storm armor's not an active skill.
@@KeithElliott-zd8cx I thought weapon elemental type wasn't relevant?
I'm late to the season, but fun build! Thanks
to me is the most fun set for wizard.
New leaderboards New mexhanics , some new shit to mess around with
or just wait for D4.
(lightning, arcane, fire)
the top wizard build is lightning
@@thedon9670 are you referring to Tal Rasha? You're missing my point. The only suitable HYDRA build, is cold damage. Because the itemisation around the few items that buff Hydra damage also intrinsically buff and synergise with cold damage. (this is obviously an issue with many builds/items)
If you're saying there is a 'top hydra build' that is lightning damage. Then I apologise, as I clearly don't know what you're referring to, and would appreciate some more info. :)
@@howdoyouevenknow6526 there is no such thing. U can run anything.
What do you mean by “waiting for your cold rotation”?
But dammit, not having the second hydra, thats 20,000% missing damage...
i had to craft one using the cube
@@RaxoFilms I eventually got one. Had it drop as a primal lmao. It's a fun build, tankiest build ive ever played in the game by far. Cruising around with nearly 1.5 billion toughness, 50m recovery. Havent spent much time attempting to push g rifts but did 120, not bad for me considering in previous seasons I played Id struggle to clear 90s solo.
Which passive would you swap for an hardcore player ?
You have multiple options to swap out extra damage for more survival. Take out the 4 element extra damage passive and swap in the one that saves you from death. Take out the extra damage from close range and swap in extra temporary hps.
is the follower still able to be frozen and immobilized even when he is immune to damage? When you get shield phylon the player can't get frozen and immobilized, does the shield phylon and follower immune work different?
No, once you get immunity the follower cannot be frozen/immobilized. So most people actually do not use Ice Climbers on their follower, they use Captain Crimson set for additional CDR
Thanks, I was wondering this myself.
Quick question why do you have ruby gems in your equipment instead of topaz?
all the guides show using them but no one seems to say WHY
great guide
what does farming mean. i know what t16 means, and bounties. but i've seen people say a set isn't good for GR pushing or t16 but great for farming and i don't know what that means specifically
Farming is just rerunning content as fast and efficient as you can. Similar to 'grinding' but for items. Though I've heard some say farm paragon, I think that should be grind paragon.
farming is T16, low to mid level GRs and bounties. Everything involving speed.
Fast GR 90s give you the max item drops, you want a set that can run GR 90 in 2-3 minutes over and over as quickly as possible. You use a speed build to wait for Tal Rasha set to drop etc. This is a nice starter set to get you to those goals quickly.
haven't played the game for almost 2 years now. With the last patch before D4, I'll be wasting another month next season >_
What skills do I need to do this
Anyone know what paragon level wizards might get 150s done if playing solo in Season 28?
If nothing changes, paragon 0. Otherwise, around 1500 for tal rasha
do hydras stack stricken?
I hope they fix the performance of the game before season start. The game have been running bad lately. With random stuttering and small freezes.
New to diablo 3. On Xbox the blizzard and hydra skill are on the same button. Can someone tell me how to assign it to another on xbox....
Turn on elective mode in settings.
You can’t use Hydra and blizzard at the same time so how does this work?
Enable elective mode in options and you can use any combination of skills
Love the vid. This is my first time not starting out with my barbarian. I see that you have 2 pieces of Cain on your follower. Does the Ring of Royal Grandeur, which is in the cube, effected them because for some reason its not working. Not sure if thats a bug.
Why STR gems and not INT?
for defense lol
I wanna try a new build but i love the hydra build too much🤦♂️🤣
How do you get the guardian recipes??
Should drop out of bounty chests.
I love this build
every time i try to convince myself to try diablo 3 i come to look at gameplay and all i see is slowly killing HP sponges for no real reason because the game just hands you your bis set parts immediately. This isnt me trying to be a dick about that game can someone please give me a tl;dr of what things there are to aspire to get in terms of gear/progression?
How do you get typhon set?
So what is the point of having the winter flurry having the hydras do more damage in a blizzard when you can’t run blizzard and hydra
Best wiz build for non season?
Think tel rasha’s?
what is non season? lol
how do I get the 6 piece bonus only using 5 of the 6 pieces????
Ring of royal grandeur, can get it by doing act 1 bounties.
Does anyone know when s28 starts? Cant wait to play ^^
They'll probably roll it out fairly quickly, since iirc the PTR is up now, but season 27 is said to end feb 19th or 24th, so its not even done yet, but it will likely be a short wait for the 'last season'
probably 3th mars or 4. Something like that
Feb 19th season ends
Feb 24th
Since you are using the T+T in the cube over Ashnagar's, is that why you are using rubies over amethysts??
rubies give you toughness i nyour gear. Amethyst in helm gives you life
@@thedon9670 yes thx rubies would be armor. Amethyst would give vitality and therefore increase shields. Was asking if the armor was better than more shield.
@@JRledford4173 You usually transition from Int early for T16/GR90 farm to Vit when pushing and then Str/Dex Gems at high Paragon pushes.
Unless your'e really pushing this build at high Paragon, Vit will be the most valuable in most cases :)
How does one get this set
When are you going to talk about Spike Trap Demon Hunter?
Probably this weekend or when the actual patch goes live, since set changes will be able to be "live tested" when the patch is out. Presumably next Tuesday. Patch notes will be out Friday, according to pezradar
It is too busted as of now, probably waiting until we get closer to live and the set has been adjusted accordingly.
Why does he have 3 strength in the chest?
This build is very tanky: meanwhile me: dies in one shot 5 times when I tried to attack Succubus.
Been playing for a year and just discovered you can have blizzard on a different button other then y now🤦♂️
So there are Trillion damage numbers too, not just Billion? XD
Do people still play D3?
