I don’t know how pension works in Canada? Here in the 🇺🇸 , your pension depends on your annual income.if your previous salary was 6 figure , then you get the max pension. Another factor is how long … you contributed to the Social Security. My two cents. White senior Canadians, enjoy their pension. They bought condos, here in my hood. They enjoy the fruit of their labor.. by being away from the snow for six months. They golf, most the time, I see a lot of them in groups shopping, starting October. Canada plates are all over the place.
Napakabilis ng panahon. Dapat talagang paghandaan ang retirement whether sa Pinas o sa Canada/US magre-retire para hindi maging pabigat sa mga anak. The more retirement income you have in the future, the more options you have on when/where to retire. Max out savings and retirement accounts habang bata pa. Mahirap mabitin ang retirement income sa pagtanda at hindi na kayang kumayod pa, nga-nga at miserable. Think compound interest, the younger you are, the better. It is not how much you make, it is how much you save and invest. Material possessions just collect dust and break. Buy your freedom instead from the daily grind of the rat race so you can spend more time with yourself, family and friends. IF you like YOLO, retire early by working hard and saving/investing 50% of your income as soon as you start working. 😊
Without boasting, I put away 23-25% of my gross salary towards retirement in 401K and invested in mutual funds and growth/equity funds. Using the power of compounding and luckily high rates of returns on the investments, able to accumulate almost 2M US$ plus pensions from Canada and US. we live comfortably, travel to PI every year and also in Europe. More travels planned. Paid cash for our condo in Pinas and house in US free and clear. We live modestly during our working days while sending 3 kids to college also kept upgrading myself until got my doctorate degree in Nursing. My advice is to save consistently and invest even small amounts. Better if you start early so more time for money to grow. It’s not about how much you make but how much you save.
