I think what is great about this is that Forsythe seems to be able to give an unfamiliar movement or extreme movement that the audience can familiarize themselves with so that later on it becomes a recognizable emotional action. IE - the girl at the end. Had she not had such an extreme arm movement throughout most of the piece, the simple and touching ending would not have worked.

Each passing year, never failing to ecact its toll, keeps altering what was sublime into the stuff of comedy.
    Is something eaten away?
If the exterior is eaten away, is it true, then, that the sublime pertains by nature only to an exterior that conceals a core of nonsense? Or does the sublime indeed pertain to the whole, but a ludicurous dust settles upon it?
    Yukio Mishima "Runaway Horses"

I like William Forsythe a lot, but I would like to know what he wants to express in this work.

thierryeric thanks for you answer. i saw an exhibition at Lyon in France, which is called "Corps rebels" and i saw an extract of this work with a connection with the aids crisis. hut i am not sure. and i have been... scared by this character with big black spots on the skin. like the kaposi syndrom. So i dont know what to think. but this work of contempory dance has a big effect on me ! the music too.
