    Great point about the Ten Commandments, and it makes me think of the states posting it in schools.

    I started with 1 & 2 Kings in this series then knew I had to start at the beginning and go through the entire Bible. There is such depth and insight! Thank you, Pastor Paul. One small thing - the world is not over, so you might want to consider changing saying "it is sad (not sure of your word here) that the Isrealites did not become a nation of priests to the world" to something that says it has not happened yet. Just a thought.

    The purpose of the law is
    To make us aware of what sin is. The law was our guardian. But after Christ we live by faith...

      I stole Bobby pins when I was 7...not for the Bobby pins but the pink case it came in. I threw the Bobby pins away and felt so bad about stealing I went back without my grandma and left the case there. I never told anyone. I am a thief. I remember this as if it was yesterday.
      I am 80 now.
      Edit:
      I have been forgiven. I know all my sins are forgiven and I thank God for His grace and mercy.

    I still have questions about the Sabbath. My husband and I and our family have chosen to observe the rest days by not doing any work, and focusing on prayer as a family. We pray every day but we have found observing rest days bolsters our faith in His finished work. Is our choice legalism?

    • @PastorPaulLeBoutillier
      @PastorPaulLeBoutillier 4 місяці тому +1

      Absolutely not!! We SHOULD ALL include a day of rest in our schedules. It only becomes legalism when someone demands that the day of rest MUST happen on one specific day of the week and when a day of rest becomes a person's righteous standing with God.

    we are resting in Jesus' work on the cross. What then must we do when we are told to work out our salvation?

    What about the fact that Adam was instructed to observe the Sabbath? I've struggled with whether I should or should not observe, and lean towards the suggestion that we are supposed to obey that command, even after Christ died for us.

    • @PastorPaulLeBoutillier
      @PastorPaulLeBoutillier 4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Brian. The issue isn't whether a person should "observe the Sabbath" or not. If that's what the Lord is leading you to do, GO FOR IT. The issue is whether or not you believe that observing (keeping) the Sabbath is a requirement to be saved and acceptable to God. I've NEVER objected to someone desiring to observe the Sabbath. The problem arises when they go around telling others that you MUST observe the Sabbath to be a true Christian or to gain eternal life. That's the point where it becomes a problem.

      @@PastorPaulLeBoutillier I'm unsettled by a handful of verses, Matthew 7:21-23 being at the center. I am striving to understand how not to be one who works iniquity, or one who is lawless, or an evildoer, depending on which version. I'm stressed by Matthew 7:14, wondering how few it is that will find it. I must find it that I may help my children also find it. Jesus says "if you love me, keep my commandments." Which do I keep? 1 John 2:3-6 says if we don't keep his commandments and say that we know him, we are a liar. This seems to be a direct reference to what Jesus said about never knowing them. Can you help me understand how to know which commandments to keep? "But whoever keeps his word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.” I’m not trying to gain salvation by works, but rather understand how I have been commanded to live in Christ. How I can now be obedient, after having lived a life of disobedience.
