With your new mouse, if it's a female you NEED at least two, or if it's a male you NEED to only have one. NEVER pick up a mouse baby it's tail, or hold it by its tail either. You need to give it time to acclimate to its new environment so stop touching and holding the mouse. They get stressed easily so you shouldn't hold and touch him/her all the time. You need at least a 10 gallon tank for up to 3 females or one male, and have a wheel, toys, and things to climb on. For the wheel please DO NOT get a wheel with wire. DO NOT NOT NOT NOT KEEP THE MOUSE IN THAT CRITTERTRAIL. It is too small, please like to get daily bump's attention so they can see! This is important to in order to have a happy animal with quality of life, even if it's a mouse. You wouldn't keep karma in the closet and to be honest, it's the same thing for a mouse. Lps Bel big cages are bad for mice and hamster bc they can't dig and borrow bc they like to borrow in small places also in big cages they get freaked out bc the see there reflecting and want to fight it also they don't move around that much so when there in a big glass cage they think there going to get eaten by a predator sooo that's fine my gerbils love the critter cage 👍🏻

You may want to reconsider keeping "John" in Ollie 's room since mice are nocturnal and make a lot of noise. When in their wheel and just playing and eating. This is from personal experience with a pet mouse that shared my bedroom for 7 years. My Dad made a cover to put over her cage and later on her fish tank. Make sure that whatever you keep John in is not made of something he could eat through. We also raised the common brown gerbil. Dad and my eldest brother built a huge cage out of galvanized metal and a heavy metal mesh that could be bent, cut, and formed to make the upper walls and roof. There were ramps that let them climb up to the different levels and play areas. Different parts could be sectioned off to separate them as needed. That cage was 2.5' feet tall and 3.5' feet long and had 4 locking doors that let you reach all areas of the cage to help with cleaning and removing gerbils as needed. He also had other satellite cages that could be attached to the larger cage and those had a sliding metal door that could be locked in place to either allow access to the bigger cage or to keep them separated. This was essential when there were pregnant gerbils and to prevent them from being hurt or killed. All of gerbil habitat was on top of the train table in our basement playroom. He also had a couple of smaller cages that he used to keep the more aggressive males away from the rest of the gerbil community. The dog my Dad brought home one day was the same color as the gerbils and kinda looked like a large gerbil. He was a miniature dachshund/ chihuahua blend. He had long legs and a long skinny tail. When we first got him he fit in the palm of Dad's hand. Dad actually had him in his suit jacket pocket when he called us from the backyard to come see the surprise he had for us. After we had gathered around him he put his hand into the pocket and pulled out this tiny puppy that wasn't much bigger than the gerbils. We named him after one of my brothers best friends who was also close to the whole family. So this tiny pup was called Micheal and sometimes "Micheal Micheal Motorcycle " because our friend loved motorcycles just like my Dad, brothers and pretty much the whole family except Mom. That puppy loved riding on the motorcycles as much if not more than the rest of my siblings who rode with my Dad, brother, or family friends. That dog would beg for rides when ever he saw on out front of the house. My eldest brother took care of Micheal and he slept in a box next to his bed curled up in my brother's hand that he had to hang off the bed and into the box to keep the puppy quiet at night. So starting from a young age my brother would put Micheal into the gerbil habitat. Even though he was bigger they treated him like another gerbil. Micheal seemed to like it. Later on when I was either in junior high or high school my Dad brought home some black gerbils that he bought a huge 3 foot long aquarium with a heavy metal mesh top that he put on a table behind the sofa in the living room. It was a lot of fun watching them and playing with them. My brother who is 10 years older than me gave away his gerbils after having to separate them as some were getting very mean. So those were gone while I was in 1-2 grade. Coming from a big family of 8 children it is strange to hear that you might have a sibling that is 10-15 years older than you. My sister got married when I was 6 and I was an Aunt at 8 years old.

*Like this so they see it!* Tips for keeping "John" (I've owned 14 mice!): 1. Don't keep him in that Crittertrail cage, it's way too small. Get him a 10 or 20 gallon tank with a secure mesh lid. 2. If he is a he, don't keep him with any other mice. If he turns out to be a she, get her at least 1 mouse companion. I have vids on my channel on how to introduce mice so nobody gets hurt! 3. Use 100% paper bedding. Any wood bedding is unsafe for them for many reasons. Cedar is especially bad (poisonous) but pine is also bad (rescued a mouse who had the beginning of pine poisoning). 4. A "Silent Spinner" wheel from the pet store will be your best friend! Get the medium size. Never give a mouse a mesh wheel. 5. Do your research on the best diet for your mouse; there are many different brands but not all of them are healthy for mice. 6. Never pick a mouse up by the tail. 7. Toilet paper tubes are the best toys ever. 8. Mice are smelly - I have a video on how to control mouse odor! (Paper bedding is beneficial in this way too) Those are the most important things. I think you should prank the boys and dogs by having someone they haven't seen yet but is familiar to you offer them candy and see if they will take it and see if the dogs would let them go or stop them
HI daily bumps, I HAVE A HAMSTER TOO. THE CAGE IS TO SMALL. mouse in the wild need alot of room. if I was you a cheap way to get a new cage is to get a big plastic container/box like the containers and poke holes in it with a drill.
Missy's brother Jimmy has the cat now, because Jimmy and the cat have a much better relationship together and the cat was not doing the best with the boys and the dogs
