Just found your channel Danny. Really really happy with the quality of your videos. From the production quality, to your presence, and your actual advice is all just spot on! Well well done man, I see big things coming your way
I experienced most of it as well. Especially the point about don’t care for the amount of followers. There was a time I focused so hard on likes and followers that I was too busy with that to create new worthy content. Since I’ve changed that my business is growing and I get so many more jobs. Thanks as always for this high quality video!
Currently bingeing your channel and see my Instagram in this one. 😂 Now I love you even more. Thanks dude. Also... I'll send ya an invoice Monday 🤑 haha
Danny, I stumbled on to you channel tody and so glad I did. Excellent advice all around. Thank you for sharing your insight. I appreciate you! Keep on killing it!
Quality video as always. I always make it a point to sit down and give my fullest attention whenever I watch your video. UA-cam needs more content like this.
Theres a lot of Golden information there, everything you said is so very true, using social media, networking, adding value and being yourself are all so very important. A very good piece of info that you mentioned is that knock backs will happen and they do but I have found over the years many good contacts have come from other contacts so its important to preserver no matter how hard it can be. Danny you nailed it again, great advice and thoroughly enjoyed watching the video. LOL@Salmon and Alaskan rivers, they actually do. :) Loved it!
Danny Gevirtz you got it man!! If you around Montreal area hit me up man, im a lot in the coffee world, wld be my pleasure to treat ya one!! (I got extra coats) if ya cold 😅✌🏼
So many things to worry about! you offer a perspective. I offer a perspective, so does another person. ultimately, People will cling to you or not. i think the important thing to know is, what kind of camera person you are. regardless of what your IMAGE IS, your work will speak for itself. focus on the art!
Bro i was always thinking about this , my instagram page look little bet missy but also i wont to post my personal pictures like with my friend and my draws something like that but now i now how important it is to make the page more professional , thanks man
Just wanted to stop by and say - Salmon are definitely in Alaska rivers. Come on up and we'll go shoot together! Loving your channel my dude. Appreciate the value you're providing.
Hey Danny, thanks for such an amazing video. Just wanted to ask about reaching out. Were you referring to reaching out to other filmmakers and photographers? What would I say differently if it was a influencer I wanted to make videos for? Thanks for the help!
This is an awesome video Danny, absolutely loved these tips. I'm in the midst of fixing up my own Insta and this has made some decisions so much easier. I was literally going to post a photo today and decided that it wasn't sending the right message for the future work I want to do. Keep up this great content!
So many thanks danny sir. How i can get my first filmmaker job? What gear I should buy when starting? Please make video Sir. It's my humble request to you.
Damn it's sad how UA-cam destroy the background...:( Awesome video!💯True, Instagram is one of the best tools for getting work as a filmmaker, I get 90% of my musicvideo requests from Instagram!🔥
Hey man! Just curious if you started a business for all your work? Was that something easy to do? I work freelance and I'm not sure if there is a guide you recommend to help build to the point you need to open your own business?
Funny enough, I do photography, videography and cinematography. I like mixing things up, keeping my creative juices flowing, keeping things interesting
Very nice channel. You're a very talented imagemaker. I understand what you're saying about showing your work if you want to get hired, even working for free to make a name for yourself, Instagramming etc. I can totally understand your logic if you're addressing those who want to become a photographer/film maker for hire. However, if you are looking to make a career in photography or film making by creating original work, Instagramming and working for free is probably going to destroy your plans, because why would anyone pay to see it, if it's free on instagram/youtube/vimeo? There's where I would make a distinction, but yes, if you want to get hired, it is a great way to show someone who is thinking of employing you what you're capable of.
Would you suggest multiple Instagram pages for different work? I love weddings but I also do small business social content. Do I make one for weddings and one for business stuff?
Hey man! if i was shooting weddings often and I wanted to keep shooting weddings I would market it under a company name thats seperate than my own name and other work. There's a certain stigma that gets attached to people who shoot weddings. I mean i shoot them on occasion and theres nothing wrong with it but i would never market myself in that way. Does that make sense?
Danny Gevirtz yeah, makes sense. What do you about personal, hobby stuff? I shoot a lot of landscapes for fun but I don’t make any money off it. Do I do another page for my personal stuff? I feel like I’ll have 30 accounts at some point.
love you and your videos but tbh I couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of "quality" being spelled wrong when you were discussing high quality work lol 😂
I’m going down the route of a Cinematographer but I do not have enough work on my personal account. These are very helpful tips. I see many people post Filmmaker/Photographer etc...I don’t want to be known as just a Videographer. I want to only focus on Cinematography related work. I guess I find myself stuck creating content for people to know about me. Do you have any suggestions?
Go out and create projects yourself until you have enough for a complete body! Shoot whatever you want. Fake commercials/ short films/ docs! Go wild and have fun nothing needs to be perfect
@@DannyGevirtz thanks for your reply!. I was watching your videos from past 5 days and yesterday I subscribed your channel. You pit out some amazing content 🔥.
What do you think about marketing yourself as a company? I work for an ad agency and there are always multiple subcontractors even at small shoots anyway. What's really stopping me from branding my work as a company? I feel like branding my work as a person might come off less professional and cheap. I have an LLC and I want to take on jobs on the side apart from my main job at advertising agency. Not sure how to start and how to market myself.
Honestly I don't want to be considered as a company. I personally just want to be a Cinematographer and get hired as an individual. Just the life I prefer. As for social media i feel like its a lot harder to promote a business and than an individual. I might not be the best resource for you!
Think i had you in my recommendations for a few months and saw a couple of your videos during lockdown. Came back today to go further in your chanel, great content you have. And it's so refreshing to have someone on YT who seems genuinely nice. You got yourself a new subscriber ! Now hit me on insta and let's collab...just kidding, keep up the good work ;)
That being said, totally agree with you, decided to get more into instagram recently for my production company (incisive.tv). And yes keeping it easy to identify and avoid to go over the top seems like a good recipe. Took me time to understand that in today's world as videographer/cinematographer/production company etc. you NEED to be present on all social medias.
Haha I would say so. Theres nothing wrong with it at all its just not cinematography. You're not lighting anything properly which is a big differentiator.
@@DannyGevirtz I will submit that most wedding video people do not light. However, for reception (especially speeches), I light the speaker using a 120D with the fresnel mount, and usually gel'd to match the 3200-3600k temp of the room. I also use a little TorchLED light as hairlight when possible. We further add a mic stand and instruct the speech giver not to move - thus ensuring the lighting we've put together, along with the composition of our shots are not affected. We light. We look for light during the times the bride and groom prep - window light, of course... but we look for light and we use it. anyways, i dig your channel man. i think you made me wanna buy a C200 damnit HA
You are a graet DP and I love the modern handheld vibe you are producing and I think that most of us can really learn something from a working DoP like you, but... it most of the time doesn't fell like you outlined what yu wanted to say and just record. Shure we don't need the most pland out and eloquent videos ever but for eymple this video yould be half the time if you just scripted it and skiped the rambling, I think just by judging from you epic work you really have something to share with us...
Hey man! Sorry you felt that way about the video. At the end of the day I cut what feels like rambling to me and I keep what feels like it shows who i am as a human being so thats why i keep a lot of it. Glad you like the work!
11:00 you have to go in with the mindset of actually giving a shit about their work and actually wanting to do a piece for them rather than either seeing $$ or their amount of followers they have for exposure. For instance if I see a musician and I really like their work and have a roughish idea on how we can take them (the musician) to a new level/different direction. Find something good, see if you can improve it, reach out.
Oh, wow. Look Mom, another very rare Instagram Howto. And whats here the difference from the other 1.000.000 Instagram tutorials out there? Let me guess.. the magical "2020" in the description :)
