Today we are going to take an in depth look at the assembly of the new Red Sea Reefer Skimmers and walk through a few of the features that separate this skimmer from others on the market. Don’t forget to stick around till the end of the video because we are giving one of these skimmers away.
Longtime hobbyists may recall Red Sea's C-Skim skimmer line which, while innovative at the time, was not terribly well-received by the reefing community. As Red Sea continues to branch out into other product lines, with ReefLED lights debuting this summer and Gyre-inspired ReefWave pumps coming out later this year, the company has a lot riding on the success of the Reefer Series skimmers. Satisfied early adopters and positive word-of-mouth may create a wave of momentum they can ride to more successful product launches. As fans of the brand, we hope that is the case!
The skimmer comes in three different sizes to take care of tanks with a heavy bioload from 80 gallons to 240 gallons and tanks with light bioloads from 240 gallons to 740 gallons.

I like the Red Sea product. I have a Red Sea Berlin skimmer in use currently and have been for 23 years. Other than replacing pumps (Mag 7's) I have really done nothing else other than clean it when necessary. Having a reef tank for that long is unusual but also rewarding. When I started I had 440W of T5 HO bulbs that I custom setup under the hood. Currently I have 200W of LED's that I again custom mounted under a hood. I replaced the tank and my stand last year. It is the finest piece of furniture in our house. Everything works fine, however my wife agrees it's time to get a current skimmer. I have researched the hell out of new skimmers and once again settle on the Red Sea Skimmer. I like being able to clean the neck without making the sink dirty while my wife does the dishes. I like being able to adjust the skimmate easily and I also like the internal pump that is included and is probably the most expensive part and Sicci is extremely reliable. This is the only part I have ever replaced on my other Red Sea skimmer in 23 years. My new Red Sea skimmer should be here in 2 days. However winning a new Red Sea 600 will be nice to accomodate my new reef tank which should arrive next month.

The ability to see the foam thru the collection cup is a great innovation
I really appreciate the neck cleaner and drainage hose. But the most thoughtful was the customizable positioning of the slimmer because we all have different sumps!!
I am fairly new to the hobby and haven’t run a skimmer yet. I have always been told that they run loud and that has been a big deterrent for me. However I like the addition of the silencer, silencer drainer, cup drain hose, rubber legs, and neck squeegee. These videos never disappoint, I love being able to watch a video for almost every product you sell. Thank you for doing such a giveaway!
The fact that its a Red Sea product with long overdue features like the neck scrubber and easier cleaning has sold me.
It is not only one feature I like, actually a number of features, they thought of every thing , neck cleaner, long drain, drain air chamber, excellent pump, .... and so on, really great I wish if it was into the market 8 month back
Most excited about the different sides the pump inlet can be configured. That will make sump planning much easier!

Love This skimmer, two things I love about it is the drain piling and neck cleaner. Oh so often I am out of turn to find out my skimmer is overflown or shut off because it’s full. This will give my wife more confidence to drawing the skimmer when am out of town.
I’m a beginner, don’t have anything.Keep searching for everything I need to actually get started into this hobby. Seems like they have very good features into the skimmer that other ones don’t have. The fact of been able to change the direction of the pump seems very good. The house to be able to empty very good.

Red Sea is just the brand for both beginner and advance reefers this skimmer was for sure design with so much detail is just a plug and play what I really like is how easy it is to assemble put in tank adjust but also how easy cleaning this skimmer is wow this skimmer could definitely get the work done ✅it has all the qualities from quick installation, silent pumps , check valves , overflow holes there’s so many details about the skimmer

I really like all the new features that Red Sea has incorporated into the build of their new skimmer.. Such as collection cup neck cleaner, ability to select pump position and drain pipe to remove excess water.during break in.

This skimmer seems to be a really nice option. I really like the neck squeegee and the long skimmate drain line being included.
I like the line marks to help indicate where the bubbles should be for tuning.
I like that you can adjust the direction of the skimmer pump which makes it more user friendly to different sump setups.
Just started the hobby about 3 months ago I bought my fist dream tank a Red Sea reefer 350 it’s awesome. But I don’t have a skimmer and lights I wish to have this skimmer it will be a dream come true. For me I like everything about what’s not to like.
The Squeegee is awesome and adjustability for a multitude of situations is certainly handy. I would love this skimmer for my system.

I love the overall compact design of the skimmer. They made it so that it can be used in nearly all sumps of the appropriate size. The Sicce pump is a dead giveaway to the fact that this is a high end product. I can't wait to use it on my new reef tank.

The feature that this reefer liked the most skimmer was the neck scrubber in the neck of the skimmer. Something that adds to the quality of your reef keeping maintenance in providing a pristine tank.
The inbuilt neck cleaner and drain line is a brilliant feature. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

I love mine. By far the best skimmer Ive owned. I like it better than Reef Octopus.
The video shows the Paddle being separated from the Red Cover when cleaning it. That's not necessary and the Red Cover can be removed with the Paddle attached - it can be cleaned just as easily.
The Paddle is initially quite stiff to turn but this eases off. It is best to rotate it in only one direction e.g., Clockwise, whilst holding the Clear Cup. It is worthwhile to wait for the Paddle to become more free to move.
The hose and tap can be positioned so that the hose is outside the Sump but the Tap is best left over the Sump - it doesn't leak but if you forget to completely close it then being over the Sump is a good idea!
The Clear Cup can be cleaned by increasing the height of the Air/Water Column to make it overflow and fill the Clear Cup. At this point the height can be restored and the waste removed with all the water through the Tap. If the Paddle has previously been rotated, it scrapes off all the waste and this is moved to the Air/Water Column. When it overflows, this is carried over into the Clear Cup. In practice and with a slightly wet Skim-mate, there isn't much need to ever disassemble the Clear Cup from the base.
The Water height is marked on the Skimmer and an RSK-600 has this at 7-8 inches. This doesn't match the height of a Refugium Weir - at least not in my REEFER, so a Skimmer Stand (or similar) is required. Setting the height of the Sump to be at the lower level of the indicated water level allows the maximum Air/Water column for maximum effectiveness.
Love the disassembly on the entire skimmer. Looks like it will last a long time.
The most difficult item to clean and red sea done a great job to dissamble completely so you can clean completely inside. As well the clean neck tools without taking the cup out its an incredible and easy to use tool.
That squeegee in the neck is a awesome feature! Definitely will make cleaning easier!

I don't know alot about skimmers yet but i have been watching a lot of videos trying to learn how to setup and run a saltwater tank for the first time. And one of the features i like about this one is the rubber feet to make it more quite in the sump. I also like the neck cleaner to help make it more user friendly. Which will help out people just learning how to use them.

The water level adjustable knob on this unit looks to be both easy to turn and precise. The neck cleaner is an added bonus! I have an older Red Sea skimmer and haven't had any issues but I'd love to upgrade to take advantage of these new features!! Too cool.

Like many of the other people who have commented, I really like the built in neck cleaner! I wish all companies would add this to their skimmers as well because I feel that this is a very handy feature to have and utilize, no matter who you are or what kind of variables your aquarium has! That is my favorite feature on this skimmer but it has several other great features as well. The ability to mount the pump in 3 different configurations, the quality of the pump itself, the drain port with ball valve to reduce overflow, the rubber feet to reduce vibration, all around this skimmer seems to be very well thought out and built exceptionally well, what else could you ask for?! I would absolutely love to have one of these for my aquarium!

Best feature is the ability to reorient the pump to different directions. That really helps maximize its use so the pump isn't crammed up against a sump wall because that's the only way the base fits.
The skimmer neck brush looks like a great feature! Definitely want to try that out
A game changer! I love the orientation changes. Custom sumps (even on Red Sea aquariums) are becoming more popular so this feature is a welcome addition.

Great video! I love my Red Sea RSK-900. I assembled it with one hand while holding the camera, lol! Great investment skimmer in my opinion. They thought of design, from maintenance, look and feel and even thought of different variations of sumps so it can fit. It uses a quality pump company too. Holla!

So many great features on this skimmer! Hard to choose only one, but here goes. I like the fact that its so easy to setup, clean, and do periodic maintenance with, especially impressed with the drain line feauture. I could see one of these skimers in my future build for sure. Great video!

The features I love:..1. First and foremost, the Sicce pump. Sometimes you buy a car for the engine, well , ..that's the case here. I'm looking for that pump. I like the self cleaning head, the adjustability of the pump, being able to turn it. And although I could add a skimmer drain to the cup, its nice for the built in one. Hope to win. Been an MD fan dating back to 2000 ...loved the magazines!!
The squeegee mechanism is the best. I’m glad you guys said to make this standard in your skimmers. I’ve been eyeing a new skimmer and this may be the choice for me.
