As per that book, a prince, named Vijaya, from India (from Bengal region), was expelled from his country. He and his 70 subordinates reached Sri Lanka by a Ship. His descendants are the Sinhalese. That book clearly states that there were people living in the island before his entry. They are the Naga people, who are Tamils. Even the Sri Lankan government released a postal stamp to celebrate 2500 year of the arrival of Vijaya. British were responsible by taking Tamil workers to work in Tea plantations as cheap labour to Srilanka. Post independance there were hostilities instead of bringing back all Tamils from Srilanka and giving them Indian citizenship. Besides indigenous people everywhere are unique to that particular territory separated by natural barriers. Srilanka does not have any natural barriers within the island, the only natural barrier is the ocean surrounding the island. It is documented in both Tamil and Sinhala history that Tamils came here as invaders and settlers in recent times. Also, there is absolutely no ethnic difference between the Plantation Tamils and the non-Plantation Tamils, i.e the so-called Srilankan Tamils - both have the same history that defines their ethnic identity - the difference they claim exist between them is a political definition. It goes without saying that part of the same people cannot be indigenous to a place while another part is not. Until 1911 there was no distinction made between the Plantation and non-Plantation Tamils in the census even. In 1911 they categorized all Tamils who said they came from the opposite coast as Indian Tamils and the rest as Ceylon Tamils. In that categorization a good portion were wrongly categorized as Ceylon Tamils, as the newly immigrated Tamils lied about their recent migration. In Jaffna alone a good 20% of the so-called Ceylon Tamils were actually first generation Indian Tamils. In 1820 when the first census was done by the British, there were less than 50,000 Tamils in the whole island. In 1881 census there were total 687,200 Tamil in the island. Out of them about 450,00 were in the plantations. Even if we take all the Tamils outside the plantations as Ceylon Tamils that gives 237,200 Ceylon Tamils. Today there are some 2,2 million of them in the island and almost 2 million who have so-called fled the island to western countries. Up until the British occupation of the island, Tamils were a totally insignificant community here. They never claimed to be from anywhere else than their real homeland Tamilnadu, which they actually maintained upto recent times. This indigenous claims are 20th century politically motivated claims. Tamils are indigenous to only one place, that is Tamilnadu, not here. What happened during the British occupation of the island is the subjugation of the Sinhalese by the British, with the help of the Tamils. Tamils have no real feeling of belonging or love for this island. They can very well exist without this island, but for the Sinhalese, this island is our home and without it we have no other place. So please do not destroy our island or try to break our island into several pieces. FYI the Plantation Tamils too now want a separate state or a federal state in the heartland of the Sinhalese in the hill country. This is a joke. I think you confused between Eelam Tamils and Tea plantation tamils. Tea plantation tamils are the one brought to the island by Britishers. Eelam Tamils are the one who are indegineous people ruling the island even before the arrival of Sinhalese to the island (this is even referred in the Sinhalese book Mahavamsa). Eelam Tamils are not Indian Tamils, they are indeginous people of Srilanka.

I am a Sri Lankan Sinhalese (also a Political Science professor) I would like to apologize on behalf of my community, and for all suppression your community had to go through. Incidents like the Black July pushed many Tamil youth to join the LTTE, it is all true the Tamil youth did not take arms without a reason. However, please do not deny the harmful activities of LTTE and (as this video too suggested) do not consider LTTE as a Tamil guardian angel. They did recruit soldiers forcefully and even women and children to their forces. LTTE may have had a cause and a noble motive to win liberation for the Tamils. But they committed atrocities to be very honest. Sri Lankan army and the LTTE both killed a lot of people. Let's not pretend like either of those parties were pure. That is preventing us Sri Lankans from making any peace in this country in the future.

Raji, though in an antagonist side, still won hearts with her bravey and combat skills. And the tragedy she went through was spine chilling

Discrimination against particular sect of Tamils was even documented during the British colonisation. The disparities were clearly not because of increase in Tamil population. The reasons for demand for a separate Tamil Elam are not covered in this video. It wasn’t just the language exclusion. Decrease in number of Tamils employed in public sector units was also due to employment and education acts that were against the minorities in Srilanka. Why is all that ignored in this video? And the projection on “increase in tamil population during British times” being the basis for the discrimination is baseless. And the basis of discrimination wasn’t based on religion either. LTTE is not holy but leaving behind the struggles of entire community in pretext of LTTEs position in today’s world is sad. When you are talking about discrimination in form of race, color, caste, religion, status, sex, etc, there isn’t anything neutral. There is only one side and that is the side of the oppressed!

If that is the case, who transferred that huge amount of money and why they were interested in funding for the assassination. CBI is not having any answer for that question. Okay. Dhanu alias Thenmozhi Rajaratnam was selected as the assassin women and she wore a belt bomb and she triggered it while touching Rajiv’s feet. Who made the bomb? Still now we don’t have an answer for this question. It was said a swami who did arrange the bomb and did Pooja to the bomb and later it was given to Sivarasan. Who is that swami? We don’t have an definite answer for that question for this also. We were not given an answer because the answer will defame the Top leaders name and India’s name and moreover it is easy to say LTTE also. After 1991, India saw a major shift in Economic policies and India became more open and started Free trade and all. Rajiv was not interested in any of these. To made India to agree the free trade or open market economy he could have killed ? Iraq war was on peak during late 80s and U.S flights will land in India and re-fill the petrol and go back to Iraq and Rajiv openly criticized this move and he told that he will withdraw the outside support provided to the then government. This would have made CIA angry on him also. In an interview few hours before his assassination when press he openly told Top leaders of the World are getting killed and there is a conspiracy behind it and when a reporter asked if that is due to C.I.A , Rajiv just smiled and walked away. Why did rajiv smile when he was asked about CIA. CBI inquiry says that Mossad’s secret agents were there in Tamil Nadu few weeks before the assassination. What were those Mossads doing by that time? Why should Yasser Arafat warm India Government and asked India to take proper care of Rajiv.

As per that book, a prince, named Vijaya, from India (from Bengal region), was expelled from his country. He and his 70 subordinates reached Sri Lanka by a Ship. His descendants are the Sinhalese. That book clearly states that there were people living in the island before his entry. They are the Naga people, who are Tamils.
Even the Sri Lankan government released a postal stamp to celebrate 2500 year of the arrival of Vijaya. Later they took it back, because it strengthens the claims that Sinhalese are not the son of the soils.

It goes without saying that part of the same people cannot be indigenous to a place while another part is not. In 1911 they categorized all Tamils who said they came from the opposite coast as Indian Tamils and the rest as Ceylon Tamils. In that categorization a good portion were wrongly categorized as Ceylon Tamils, as the newly immigrated Tamils lied about their recent migration. In Jaffna alone a good 20% of the so-called Ceylon Tamils were actually first generation Indian Tamils. In 1820 when the first census was done by the British, there were less than 50,000 Tamils in the whole island. In 1881 census there were total 687,200 Tamil in the island. Out of them about 450,00 were in the plantations. Even if we take all the Tamils outside the plantations as Ceylon Tamils that gives 237,200 Ceylon Tamils. Today there are some 2,2 million of them in the island and almost 2 million who have so-called fled the island to western countries. Up until the British occupation of the island, Tamils were a totally insignificant community here. They never claimed to be from anywhere else than their real homeland Tamilnadu, which they actually maintained upto recent times. This indigenous claims are 20th century politically motivated claims. Tamils are indigenous to only one place, that is Tamilnadu, not here. What happened during the British occupation of the island is the subjugation of the Sinhalese by the British, with the help of the Tamils. Tamils have no real feeling of belonging or love for this island. They can very well exist without this island, but for the Sinhalese, this island is our home and without it we have no other place. So please do not destroy our island or try to break our island into several pieces. FYI the Plantation Tamils too now want a separate state or a federal state in the heartland of the Sinhalese in the hill country. This is a joke. A very sad joke played on the innocent Sinhalese people.

The reasons for demand for a separate Tamil Elam are not covered in this video. It wasn’t just the language exclusion. Decrease in number of Tamils employed in public sector units was also due to employment and education acts that were against the minorities in Srilanka. Why is all that ignored in this video? And the projection on “increase in tamil population during British times” being the basis for the discrimination is baseless. And the basis of discrimination wasn’t based on religion either. LTTE is not holy but leaving behind the struggles of entire community in pretext of LTTEs position in today’s world is sad.

Secondly a lot of architecture and culture directly linking to ivc is found in TN. Tamil is the only indian origin language which has official status in six different countries. Tamil kings especially cholas pandyas had overseas territories spanning 8 countries which no empire in India's history had. Cholas had world's most powerful navy at one point. Yes we are proud of being indian ,india should also be proud of us.
