Listening to what they need will help them learn more. Yesterday, I happened to comment somebody's video on teaching, oh one by Professor Jack C. Richards, and precisely I said that we have to listen to what our students want. Surprisingly, our students very often ask us to teach them more grammar. We teachers know that grammar is not exactly a goal in language learning but a medium to produce accurate language. But they don't know that and they want to master more and more grammar. So, should we respond to their demand? Of course, we must listen to them and satisfy their demand. Obviously, we have to find a way to maintain a balance between the accurate activities and the fluency activities in the English class. So, Laura, you're right, listening to our students makes the difference between a teacher they worked with once and a teacher they will remember for quite a while.
