  • Today we shall elucidate the deeds of Adeptus Astartes Chapter: the Sons of Medusa.
    Sired from an off-shoot of the Primogenitor Chapter during the Moirae Schism of the 35th Millennium, these unorthodox sons of the Gorgon forever seek to prove their mettle in the crucible of war.
    Scavenging weapons retrieved from their fallen foes, despite the ignominy cast by the glare of the Mechanicus of Mars and the Iron Hands these scions of Ferrus Manus care only for victories made in the name of the God-Emperor and Omnissiah.

    Regarding the schism they were a part of, the mechanicus had found people who could see the future and they predicted guilliman coming back as well as the great rift. HOWEVER: they ALSO predicted the faith of both the imperium and the mechanicus merging into one, meaning the imperial creed will go from venerating one major god while unknowingly worshipping 9 minor ones (the primarchs) to worshipping (unknowingly) 2 MAJOR GODS because not only will they give praise to the emperor, but also the void dragon. Given how psychic energy can effect abstract avatars, if mankind collectively believes hard enough that mag'ladroth is a good dude....maybe we'll start seeing him show his appreciation for mankind in more ways than just making the machine spirits work. Hell, imagine the hilarious image of him breaking through his own avatar's built in limits and making his first ever daemons and the admech are like:"why do they look like wyrms?" (Wyrms are creatures that in myth inspired dragons btw) Idk I just find that really goddamn funny.
    Hours later and I just realised: this could actually lead to another admech schism which could create a bigger divide in the imperium than usual events in the lore (like the great rift splitting it in 2) I mean if this does happen, we could see more rogue or even xenarite tech priests, which would be cool but could also lead to many of them believing the omnissiah isn't the big E (I mean they wouldn't be wrong) and could even kickstart a storyline where a group of admech characters look into the truth of their god and faith, and then THAT leads into a necron-mechanicus storyline that becomes an entire novel or even it's own trilogy.

      This is a very nice narrative. I would actually love the possible interactions between Mechanicus - C'tan - Necrons. Just imagine a scenario where the body of Ferrus Manus is reanimated by Mechanicus Protocols as a cyborg terminator (Schwarzenegger style, not 1st Company kind). Plot twist, the resurrection effect would be impacted by the necrodermis/living metal in his hands regenerating. No matter the direction the lore takes the stories delving into such dynamics would be awesome. Will Mechanicus rebel against the Imperium, would the Emperor's soul/conscience merge with the Void Dragon? Good stuff.

      @@jimdoe9827 I would love a scene where an avatar shard of mag'ladroth actually has a one to one conversation with a tech priest. I think it would really help put into perspective not only the thought process of a corrupted abstract avatar but also help to really show what the admech's own god thinks of them. We know that one of the rouge golden age ships said he had seen the omnissiah and he would be "disappointed" in them, but other than that we haven't ever heard mag'ladroth the god himself say something about the mechanicus in any way.
      My only issues are that admech are seen by many writers as a "fodder" faction alot in stories (like the orks and eldar) and so get written badly to progress the plot in ways that make them look really dumb, and also that it doesn't devolve into grimderp: because remember: machine spirits are ONLY a thing for imperium technology based on lore bits saying their tech will sometimes keep going, like that one crazy land raider that literally kept going when it's whole crew was dead for example. I say this, because mag'ladroth just plain despising the admech doesn't really make sense given he still has to WILLINGLY give his own conceptual energy EVEN more so than usual to the fundamental workings of mankind's weapons in order for them to do these logically impossible things. I mean one time a titan in the warp suddenly came to life to protect the people stuck with it and it straight up started to have limbs that could only be described as conceptual in nature, which fits given WHAT is required to do that. Just hoping the writers remember that part too.

      @@guywholikesmemes4993 I think the machine spirits are the grey area bits that are not explicitly stated in the lore. The machine spirits could be the Void Dragon's "corruption/blessing", could as easily be human-created AI remnants or "Shackled Intelligences" and the like from 20-30k. Who's to say at that point that AI themselves aren't just Mag'ladroth's shards, sentiences, angels, progeny, whatever, and the whole Men of Iron debacle was just Void Dragon stretching his legs. I would guess GM would want to keep this area intentionally vague, just to entertain such concepts/fan imagination. Still need moar loar.

      @guywholikesmemes4993 3 місяці тому +2

      @@jimdoe9827 the idea of all AI actually just being a fuck ton of shards would be genuinely cool as a lore add-on and would actually explain the incident with the rogue ship from a corrupted avatar perspective. While the vagueness is obviously a factor, it also is pretty clearly something somehow LINKED to the dragon, and it's clearly helpful if the imperium's continued survival is to be seen and made apparent.
      Imagine the necrons and admech not fighting but for a rare instance actually get a moment where they both talk with eachother and the necrons ask why they want to rid themselves of their flesh when they'll feel so hollow inside and the admech why the necrons hate being metal so much yet are it. (Should clarify the admech don't know what the war in heaven is so they obviously don't the know how that all came about via a long list of fuckfests happening one after the other)

      @@guywholikesmemes4993 True, and the easiest way to do so is uniting under a common banner to defeat a major threat, probably either Chaos or the Tyranids. Can definitely see a temporary alliance (or at least mutual ceasefire) of Humans, Aeldari, Tau, and Necrons, just to be able to hold their own against the brunt of the Tyranid main body fleet rather than tendrils (as in a galaxy-wide extinction event). Of course, sprinkle Abaddon and Thraka for laughs and profit.

    the chapter you can compare to them Marines Malevolent, had to scavenge everything because no one would support them... but their track records are really good so the inquisition can't do shit to them anyway... just that... they'd kick more Xenos and Chaos forces if supplied properly... Imperium bureaucracy sux... :D
