(1) Back-to-back NCAA Championships with Florida -- he knows how to win, (2) NBA connections -- instant cred with college players and 5-star recruits, (3) Played for and coaching disciple of Rick Pitino -- it would be like 1989 all over again, (4) Will always be a .500 coach in the NBA given how that league works, (5) Is still young enough (58) to stay a while and leave his mark, (6) Has the class KY wants to reflect -- KY doesn't need the "clouds" that come with a Sampson or a Pearl, nor the drama that comes with a Hurley, nor the lack of stature that comes with an Oates, (7) Has the mental fortitude to handle pressure that comes with coaching a legendary program. Calipari's departure is a "gift horse"; no need to "look it in the mouth". Hiring Donovan would be a Christmas-come-early present for BBN that puts KY back into NCAA championship relevance. Don't blow it, Mr. Barnhart. Instead, ask yourself what C.M. Newton would do.

All relationships have to end eventually, and this one needed to end after the lockdowns season and moreso every year since. But Cal promised he would leave Kentucky when fans were done with him, and he was true to his word.
Kentucky men's basketball need a change and with all due of the masterful job he did with alot of one and done players he got a championship out of it and final 4 appearances. as a uk fan, heres my take. Calapari has the ability to be a decent coach, he just stopped coaching using his old methods. He's less of an X's and O's guy and more of a "yall go out there and pass the ball some and hopefully you can score". With the surplus of freshman he gets, you can't really do that bc they dont know what they are doing. I think he will do well at arkansas, just know he has his flaws for sure.

Buy out Rick Pitino’s contract. He said recently that he wished he stayed at Kentucky and ended his coaching career there. You couldn’t write a more perfect storyline than a Pitino reunion ending in a championship

I haven't watched a KY B B game in over 6 years from start to finish. Cal is a terrible on the floor coach, I could've coached the 2012 team to a Championship, and I don't coach nor play one on TV.
Arkansas is tied for 10th place in all time Final Four appearances. I just hope Cal has a chip on his shoulder. Always liked Muss over Cal but we could have done much worse.

Musselman has ties to the southern California region. He lived out in San Diego for a bit and then played college there too. Plus if you believe rumors he had some falling out with the money people who back the program. Two so so years and it makes sense for a new start in a place that's likely closer to your heart.
