The copywrite to this composition belongs to Tuomas and Troy. Those We Don't Speak of was written by Johanna from the same Album of the Same Name . She didn't expect Those We Don't Speak Of, would actually make it to the album. Kai was added on this album to play Drums. Also News today. JUKKA is now an official Member of Nightwish. 🤘
This particular song was written by Troy, and in my opinion it's one of the finest songs on the album. The instrumentation, the mood it sets, Johanna's beautiful vocals and the huge lift at the end with Troy's guitar wailing through the mix. Absolutely amazing!
I LOVE AURI. The band had originally hoped to tour after Nightwish's "Human :||: Nature" tour was over, but with the lockdowns and delays the past couple of years, that sadly had to be scrapped. With preparations for the next Nightwish album currently in progress, who knows when there will be a window for that.
Thank you for further Finnish explorations, Auri is certainly magical. Johanna has an elvish voice, haunting, graceful, wistful, elegant. I'm waiting for Buster to wake up... Music and poems together (Wolfman is fixated upon Floor), give him a break...
Nightwish: "We’re delighted to announce our dear friend Jukka Koskinen is officially inaugurated as a member of the band. 🙏 We've been incredibly thankful to have him on our side while touring and it only feels natural to have him join the band officially. 🤍"
Otherworldly. Tuomas has an incredible talent for painting pictures with music and words. Da Vinci, Bach and Keats, rolled into one human being. “Can death be sleep, when life is but a dream, And scenes of bliss pass as a phantom by? The transient pleasures as a vision seem, And yet we think the greatest pain's to die.”
Love this not only because it's a brilliant calming song of it's own, but also because it reminds me of one my long time favorites, Mike Oldfield's music.
Auri is a married couple Tuomas and Johanna plus their good friend Troy. Johanna plays violin too. During Covid restrictions Tuomas wrote the second Auri album, the tenth NW album and recorded/payed the keys also for the new album of black metal band Darkswood my Betrothed.
what a masterpiece song. this song is like start bang when going traveling over seas. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful new week. tuomas writings always great coz he uses not easy or common english words.
This is from the second Auri album, “Those we don’t speak of”. The writers are Tuomas, his wife Johanna Kurkela and good old Troy Donockley, (drums by Kai Hahto) so it is not clear who wrote exactly what song, but you can hear the touch of Tuomas everywhere. The placement of the lyrics in text boxes (and the moment they pop up, just before the singing) is also is very similar to Human:||:Nature by Nightwish🤓
Okay, you two characters! As a subscriber and enjoyer of your fun, I'd like to introduce you to another world of music. Try Eye of Melian - It's Johanna Kurkela, with orchestral arrangements by Finnish arranger & producer, Mikko P. Mustonen; songs by Dutch composer Martijn Westerholt (Founder, keyboardist & composer for Delain AND Brother of Within Temptation composer & guitarist Robert Westerhold); and American lyricist, Robin LaJoy. The music is based on fantasy, mainly Tolkien, and in many ways compliments Auri. I just found them, purchased the CD and it is glorious!! As musically educated, I know you will swoon over this new work as I have. It may not be something you put on your channel, unless you really want to introduce this amazing work to your "family" - it's orchestral - but just WOW! I hope you do yourself a favor and give it a listen. The credentials alone ought to light a fire - it's an all-star collaboration.
Usually always in connection with Auri, credit for songwriting is given to Tuomas. I have heard many interviews and songs, if you add everything i'm almost certain that Tuomas' role is the smallest of the three when comes to composing and writing. Of course he is part of it and does a lot, but it's kinda easy to understand if he takes smaller role. He has had always huge pressure to write Nightwish songs. These songs are so much Johanna and Troy style, especially Johanna. She has done these kind of songs for a long long time. Troy doesn't write for Nightwish so i'm sure he has lot of creative spark in him and he can use it to this band.
11:05 It's the background of classical music, where it comes from. If you look at the best European bands and their main composers, it is extremely rare to find a mastermind who does not have a background in classical music. Also, I feel like shredding is less and less important in Europe (if you compare to Japan, it's a joke how big a difference there is). In Europe, it's so much about storytelling, atmosphere and the use of all kinds of instruments.
Thanks Valtte!! Yes, shredding was very popular here in the 80’s and early 90’s. I do think it’s making a bit of a comeback re: Tommy Johannson and Emppu. Also agreed that you don’t see as much of a classical music influence as Europe. However it was pretty prevalent in the 70’s among some “Super Groups” see Kansas, Boston, ELO and Queen. Those aforementioned groups changed quite a bit in the 80s and frankly I hated it :-) sorry to ramble on so long but thank you!!!

In Auri it's difficult to know who has written each song. The three of them take part in the process of composition, it's a global band and they never specify who has written what. Nightwish is clearly Tuomas's child, but Auri has two fathers and one mother. Mind you, Johanna is a very interesting artist, she plays the violin and is a very good composer. Also on this album most of the drums are done by Kai Hahto..This song is beautiful..
add to that, Tuomas' right hand man since 1996, engineer Tero Kinnunen. Almost the whole gang together 😀
