the fact that she specifically mentioned that everyone is welcomed without hesitation filled me with joy. having visited as a foreigner, there are some (not many, in my experience) places, esp in more rural areas, that are decidedly not welcoming to foreigners, even those that have integrated and/or speak Japanese. it’s just so nice to be assured that all are welcome in a place of relaxation and safety.
Really? I'm sorry to hear that. You're right it's really uncommon and yet, it's nice to be so openly invited. As foreigners we often wonder about acceptance. Yet overwhelmingly living in Japan is easy, people are friendly and great. (Especially when I compare it to when I lived in Europe. Now that was actually terrifying sometimes) I've only had one "bad" experience in a city in Japan, but I live in a rural area and it's been great. I wonder what specifically you mean by "not welcoming"? I've found that when I was the only foreigner somewhere I became more nervous and self-conscious, to the point where I would doubt the sincerity of a smile... but I recognized that was more me than anyone else being "unwelcoming". If anyone actually talked to me, they were full of good vibes (occasionally a bit of nervousness, but that could also just be an introvert lol). Also, regardless of being Japanese or not, integrated or not, in Japanese society you will standout if you are different. And it's still possible to encounter unfriendly/rude people whether you're Japanese or not. Which makes me think people might be mixing in unfriendly people, with "not foreigner friendly" sometimes. Nowhere in the world is 100% of you encounters with strangers going to be perfect. But overwhelmingly customer services and people here are so welcoming and accommodating for me it's almost not worth mentioning.
@@SkyeAten 99% of the experiences i had were absolutely amazing. the best customer service in the world in undoubtedly in japan. even total strangers on the street were kind, patient and lovely. i only had a handful of negative experiences, they were similar each time. on two or three occasions, i was asked to leave an establishment because they said they didn’t have anyone working that spoke english, even after i assured them (in japanese) that i was comfortable ordering in japanese. i think they might’ve been concerned that they wouldn’t be able to serve me properly? i’m not entirely sure. they never told me to leave in a rude way, it was just kind of a matter of fact thing. maybe my accent was difficult to understand? i usually never have issues with people misunderstanding me in japanese but it might’ve been because of the area? anyway, like i said, this wasn’t a common occurrence by any means. i should mention, my black friend who lived in japan for a time unfortunately went through this more often... she lived near yokohama just under a year and it happened about 4 times iirc :/

@@katelovespizza I’m assuming anyone that’s not a native Japanese speaker/ someone who was not born and raised in Japan. I could be wrong but that’s what I think
@@katelovespizza it typically just refers to non-japanese people as a whole, but especially westerners. sometimes, it can be used in a derogatory way when a tourist is acting disrespectfully or hasn’t researched taboos and customs before visiting. i’ve personally never had that word used as an insult towards me but more as a descriptor, if that makes sense. in my personal experience, it’s similar to calling someone a foreigner in the west, some people use it as an insult and some people use it as a descriptor. anyway, hope that helps!
I really love that every time they ask aestheticians and massage therapists if they mind if a client falls asleep during treatment and the response is always "absolutely not".

I feel like either Japanese salon workers are just naturally very soothing sounding, or they are totally down to do ASMR videos, because they always seem so good at it and also very enthusiastic about it. This is great content!
This channel is so underrated, i love the atmosphere, the calming energy it spreads, the camera angles and the soft relaxing voice. but generally the effort put into these videos its really a breath of fresh air.

I have narcolepsy and one of the times where it’s really hard for me to stay awake is when I’m really relaxed (and laying down) so the fact that Nishio is fine with clients sleeping is really encouraging to me. (There’s been a few times where I’ve gotten a massage at a place close to where I live and I’ve gotten woken up/told off for falling asleep during a session)

Why was that video of “scalp cleaning, migraine, eye strain relief” made private? I was watching it, and could watch only half. It was a very nice soothing video. I felt very disappointed to have it gone. I can’t watch it to the end now. So sad. The hair wash was so unique in that video.
