I’m not sure why Tame Impala private this version of the song I was just listening to it earlier but I’m glad this video exists, I didn’t care for the newer version of Borderline
to be honest I don't really like the new version of borderline, I prefer this one. I also came to this video to listen to the original

I actually prefer this mix a bit. I like how ethereal it sounds compared to the new one. I wish Kevin only fixed the bass like he said along with adding the train sounds. If he just did those two things, it would be perfect!!

@@DoZen_Productions yeah, also on a complete sidenote- kevin ruined the tense grammar of the lyrics in the new version “I WONDER how I managed to end up in this place and I COULDN’T” which implies it is his current stream of thoughts (but then why would he use the word couldn’t?? in the old version he said “ASKIN’ how I managed to end up in this place and I COULDN’T get away” which implies he is narrating a past event, in which case “couldn’t” would make sense... shut up im not overthinking

Yep. The part starting at 2:39 is completely missing in the album version. I also like this "chill" moment without the drums in the background at 2:49.
You can hear the bassline better in the new version, though, which I really like. I didn't even realize how good it sounds.

@@infernic5216it’s the way he sings the lyrics and the echos on some of the words. It sounds very different
Bassline is far too quiet, elements of the song don't stand out individually in the mix although it's not an awful mix. If you played this through a bigger system of speakers rather than headphones you'd notice the issues way more. I love Tame Impala and this is one of my favourite songs, but definitely respect the fact they re-released it with a new mix!

It seems that I'm the only one here that doesn't give a crap about which version is better. Some prefer the new one, some others the old one.It's okay. Personally, I'm obsessed with both of them and the feeling I get from this song is extraordinary. Enjoy music.

I feel they’re too different to compare the two. This one easily takes the cake for more creative lyrics and a more ethereal vibe while the slow rush version easily wins in bass and groove. They’re both good in their own ways.
I like the lyrics more in this one but I like the louder bass in the other. Someone made a version mixing the two tho and it’s really good

The soundtrack to my social anxiety
This song really gives the vibe of someone in emotional pain trying to just get rid of/work through the emotions with the use of hard drugs, something like LSD or Shrooms. In reality though, it just enhances your emotions and you get caught in an almost emotional break (best way I can describe it). I feel this especially through the lyrics “Rudy said it’s fine they used to do this all the time in college.” And “caught between the tides between pain and rapture.” Also, “how was I to know? How was I to know this high came rushing?”
Here’s to hoping Kevin re-releases this version on the B-sides and remixes album!
