This is the golden era of Sports shows. Nothing will ever top The OG First Take. Undisputed is the closest thing. Skip is what makes these shows and high ratings
From the moment Lebron made the decision on July 2010 to go to South Beach, till the moment Lebron won a title for Cleveland in late June 2016, which included Durant deciding to join the Warriors and then Skip leaving ESPN, those 6 years, were the greatest years in morning sports history.
This is my fav. version of First Take. In the future, not exactly the Clippers but CP3 also became the all-time record on blowing 3-1 leads in the playoffs. That makes him greater than Magic Johnson as the greatest PG of all time!
A PG is supposed to make everyone better. What could be a greater example of that than going up 2-0 or 3-1 only to ultimately lose the series, again and again? Chris Paul literally gets the best out of his own team -- or close to it -- in the first 2-4 games of a given playoff series, then switches it up and makes the opposing team far better than his own from games 3-7 in so many of these series. People that lack vision call this "failure". Thus, he is the ultimate Point Guard: he makes his own team dominant, for awhile, but also allows the roster of the opposing team to play to or even above their typical best. The guy is a genius. And like most genius, he has expressed it by doing things that "aren't supposed to be done". Chris realizes that the point of any Point is to make everyone, no matter team affiliation, better. He's making many fans and analysts better as well, as we slowly decipher what he's doing. This man is reshaping what it means to be the Ultimate Superstar. He is reshaping our perceptions of what a successful season really is in the process.
@@anen9332 yeah, I agree. He's a proper point guard imo. Despite blowing those leads, he always improved the teams that he's been with and in some cases leading the team to the playoffs when they had no business being there. He's a better point guard than Steph Curry imo, in terms on what a point guard is supposed to be.
Times you thought about this series: - After 2017 James Har_en collapse to spurs - After 2018 Rockets lose to Warriors - After 2020 Clipper collapse in the bubble - After 2021 Doc / Sixers collapse to Atlanta - After 2021 Suns 2-0 collapse to Bucks - After 2022 Suns 2-0 collapse to Mavs - After 2022 Sixers loss to Miami Long story short? Chris Paul, James Har_en and Doc are all legendary choke artists.
2023 Sixers lose to Boston, Suns lose to the Nuggets 2024 James and the Clippers flame out in 6 games against Dallas, Chris and the Warriors missed the playoffs, and Doc Rivers and the Bucks lose in a game 6 in Indianapolis (though to be fair, Doc did not have Giannis)
I remember this. Clippers defeated the defending champs. Also Clippers and Spurs were the last teams in the west to eliminate the Warriors and they choked this series and the Warriors went on and dominated the West and the Clippers had the best shot that season against the warriors
It’s Lowkey such a big part of history. I always said the clippers would beat the warriors if they played. They were the last team to beat a healthy warriors in the west.
Hindsight skip was right. 2015 I remember after watching games 1 and 2 I knew there was no chance the rockets could win. Stephen A was also right that if Dwight Howard didn’t perform the rockets had no chance.
That game 6 is still the greatest playoff game meltdown I have ever seen (game 6 second round, Clippers-Rockets, in LA, with the Clippers needing to simply close out the demoralized Rockets to advance to the Western Finals and face the Warriors). Well, this and the game 7 of the Blazers-Lakers in the 2000 Western Finals. But at least this Blazers-Lakers game was in LA (ironically its in LA again) with the Blazers playing on the road. And the Lakers had Shaq and Kobe, while the Rockets made their comeback basically without Harden
Crazy how looking back Blake in LA was a main piece had all these commercials and endorsements. Gets shipped to Detroit loses all the commercials then has to sign vet minimums on stacked teams so he can get carried.

Chris paul and Doc rivers were a match made in heaven

Lakers have proved there better than the clippers
