Came across your channel about a month ago and I love seeing Kylie do so much of what other kids her age don’t really do. I have an almost 2 year old and we are slowly trying to implement more Montessori ways into her life. I’m also reading positive discipline after your recommendation! Thanks for the inspiration! Has Kylie ever not wanted to do any of these things, like scrape her plate or clean up after herself? What do you do?
Thanks so much for watching! To answer your question - of course there are times when she does not want to be cooperative, she’s a toddler just like any other out there. But I would say she’s willing and happy to do these things 90% of the time because she chooses to do them when invited, if she ever says no or otherwise expresses a desire to NOT participate, then I simply do it myself (good modeling is always so important) and say something matter-of-fact like, “Okay, maybe next time.” Like I said, it’s always an INVITATION to take part in our family’s activities, not a staunch expectation. And when it doesn’t feel forced, she’s typically more inclined to happily join in on what is being done (eg scraping plates after a meal). She loves feeling not only like she can do these things for herself, but also that she’s a valued, contributing member of our family. 😊

Oh my gosh I miss your videos so so so much. As my kids are growing with yours, it’s been so hard to find any other UA-camrs who make Montessori and gentle parenting videos the way you have! I also can never Montessori inspired videos for older elementary age kids! Just toddlers. Would you ever make more videos!? Me and my kids would watch together and they would get ideas on what we could do together or what they can start helping with doing independently! ❤😭🫶🏻 Hope all is well with you all!!
I love this! Growing up, my mom typically did things herself because it seemed faster. In the end, helping your child learn and do things on their own can actually offer the parent more time and energy in the end because your children actually know how to do a lot of the day to day things. Thanks for sharing!
This video makes her excited to have more kids... You always hear about how hard it is to split attention between kids, but it's so clear that your girls love each other and everyone can be included, no matter what stage of development. Thank you!!
Haven't seen a mum who have disciplined her daughter this good your daughter is just amazing shes so calm and mannered such a sweetheart God bless your beautiful daughters and family , new subscriber
I'm amazed by just how much she can do independently! I feel so much guilt now for not letting my LO do more on her own. It just makes sense considering they have a natural desire to do things on their own. Too many of us without even knowing take away their independence and then blame our children when they grow up for being 'lazy' and 'entitled'. The fact is we never taught them to be independent in the first place, we taught them how to depend on us and indirectly, other people.
Watching Kylie come down the stairs and essentially prepared her own breakfast blew my mind! I'm 27 years old and my fiancé and I talk a lot about how we want to raise our children with Montessori principals. I'm new to your channel and you're my new inspiration!!! I can't wait to keep watching your videos!
You’re just an amazing mom. Your Kids are not growing up in a overprotective home, we’re the Mum does everything but in a loving home learning how to do things themself and helping each other. They will be amazing, strong, confident and loving people when they grow up! I really liked it. Greetings from Germany ❤️
I'm a mom of 3 and I salute you. You are an amazing mom. I love Your patience, selfless love and energy. I wish I have them and feel sorry for my kids now
I really love the Montessori lifestyle. Adults assume kids are incapable, but they are very capable and willing to do many things. I began it with all the kids but didn't come across the name of it until my 3rd child. Someone recommended a book. I've implemented with her and she is so independent and willing.
Absolutely love the approach of letting them learn to do these things themselves. It makes so much sense rather than doing everything for them then one day saying "you're old enough to do that yourself now!" Toddlers seem to have an instinctual desire for independence, strike whilst the iron's hot springs to mind (not literally). Currently researching about 4 years ahead of planning for a baby (22 years old currently) but I'm glad I did, I've found so many things that me and my husband want to implement in parenting. It's nice to be able to take time to rethink parenting approaches rather than falling into the standard techniques which we don't necessarily agree with. Thank you so much for your videos. I hope we can be as patient in parenting as you are.
My daughter just turned 2 and our second baby is due at the end of next month. This video just gave me so much motivation to get my toddler to be more independent and fully potty trained. Great video ❤️
so wonderful how you and your babies have true quality time. The interaction is loving, calm and intellectually stimulating. So many parents say that they spend time with their children daily but in actuality they are mentally checked out. Montessori seems to be an excellent model for raising a well rounded child.
Thank you for sharing 'a day in the life of'... it reminded me of how much the structure of a Montessori Home helped me in 'automating' our home and daily life..without it I would have been lost and my children would not have thrived just as much as they have. I would like you to take a minute to appreciate what it is that you are doing for your children and for your family as you adopt this way of raising your children. From the perspective of someone, some 20 years into your future...everything you are doing is impacting the adults that they will become...and your girls will be amazing women :)
Montessori has made everyday life so much more joyful for all of us in the moment, but even more so, I have their futures as adults always at the back of mind. Thank you so much for all of your kind words and affirmations regarding this approach. 💕
The fact that the baby carrier wasn't ergo only proves that nobody is perfect. Otherwise this video was pure mastery of raising children. I am stunned of the smoothness of your day. My child protests so often (brushing her teeth, going to bed etc.). I don't understand how you achieve that. Thumbs up!
Wow mum you're beautiful. That's how I am with my daughter, letting her have her independence allows them to grow and learn fast. She's less emotional when I say no to certain things but she gets over it in seconds and moves on her next exploration. I love that she has her own draw and she can reach things that are for her. And books books books. Love it xxx from a mum from UK
Wow. I can completely see clearly now what my daughters life and actions would be like if I had been doing things almost completely opposite to how I did them when she was this age. (She is four now). I was afraid to let her do things herself because I didn’t want her to make a mess, break things, get into what she wasn’t aloud to and take way too long to finish tasks than I had available or… honestly even the patience for. As a result, I can see her fighting for her own independence, rebelling when I try to make her do things she doesn’t want to do and breaking rules so that she can feel her own powerful ability to choose. I’ve never heard more clearly the term you use “follow the child” until I watched this video. You literally, followed you child. You were her guide and not her authority. You empowered her. Every day is an opportunity now for my family to follow this similar path. It makes so much sense now. Thank you for your openness to share and the investment you have made to create such informative and visual content. P.S. My two girls and I do also have a wonderful time playing and doing lots of positive and healthy things throughout the day! This has just helped me to understand what hasn’t been working and why, and what I can do better next time.
Been raising my 2 year old this way and didnt know it had a name. Anyways, I love that my daughter is independent, she even likes doing bath time alone,( I use a video baby monitor two watch over her, and 30 min later help her shampoo and wash). I am always following my child's lead and sometimes get frowned upon by my parents because to them I am just doing whatever she wants.
I'm very impressed how devoted you are for parenting your children! I love how you stay close to your children and be available for them when they need a help but also give them good amount of space :)
This makes my teacher heart SO happy! My students are between 2-5 years old and we encourage independent life skills just like you’re teaching your daughter-LOVE this 💜 I wish all of my parents would adopt these techniques at home 🙌🏼 awesome job!👏🏻
Hi Ashley, my 3 and 6 year old daughters are fascinated with this video and the Montessori way of children being actively collaborating and being independent and they request another video just like this but nowadays, with your children being a bit older. I know your routine is different now, more going with the flow, but still it would be great to be able to watch it, because there are great examples of what the children can do and how, and an an image helps more than a thousand words. It's incredible how seeing your little girls encourages them to do the same. They do all the things that your girls do!😀 It's fantastic! Thanks!
I am stunned to see how independently your oldest daughter does her chores. So adorable. This is how I would love to raise my kids as well. Can u make a video on how you trained her. Also how you got her being soo obedient and responsible.
Bhakti Gala she probably didn't she would of just taught her how to do it and sugested for her daughter to help her out. She did say she diddnt force her to do anything.

I love your videos! As a babysitter I face trouble with the kids, they are 4 and 7. The 4y.o. still can't do a lot of things on her own, while the big one is very far away for a 7y.o. And also they both are disobeying all the time and I really struggle with that. Even tho I am only couple of hours a day with them I try to include your tips and I even bought a Montessori book. Again, great video, keep going! ❤️
I’m amazed by this video . Kylie is so independent it’s lovely to watch . I just bought my first Montessori book to Implement into my 18 month old day .
I recently began watching all your vlogs from the start and it’s amazing to see how your daughter has managed so many skills and how natural and effortless her helping out seem now 😍 you are doing such an awesome job !!! And you are a great inspiration for helping me grow my nine month with positive discipline and independence 🙏🏻 thank you so much 😊
Ur big baby is so smart and neat. She must be learning from the best. The way she took out the stuff and arrange them so cute! Such a reliable big sis.
I have worked at a Montessori school for over a year with ages 15 months to 6 years old and I love IT. My daughter goes there for now as well until I homeschool/unschool her later and she also loves it. This video is a great depiction of what Montessori can be at home. However, I don't want parents to compare their children to this child and feel bad that their child has not developed independence in certain areas. Children are still human and can act out even with " proper training" I have seen children who are as smart, independent and competent as this little girl is have a great day one day and then the following day won't listen to a word you say and starts throwing Tantrums about random things. It takes time and patience. But I believe it is well worth it. Positive Discipline is a great tool that goes well with Montessori. We use this at the Montessori I work at also. Respecting your child and being firm but kind is extremely helpful.
Less than three minutes in and I’m so impressed! Me and my Husband are having our first baby in July and I am soaking up all this wonderfulness. God is so good to bless us with these little creations ❤️
I'm not a parent but I have watched some videos recently about Japanese daycare and primary school. This method of parenting really reminds me of that. Your toddler is so responsible.
I wish I had the option of sending my little girl to a Montessori daycare😔 I try very hard to get her used to doing these types of activities after daycare and on weekends, but it's hard for anything to 'stick'. But we celebrate the tiny victories when we can.
My children are independent organized and self-motivated Adults who are in their thirties. I love the Montessori method and used it while they were children. You're awesome! I'm gonna watch your family with my grandchildren! 👍🏽😘
Allysa Lawson have you tried the wiggles teeth brushing app? My 2 yo hated brushing at first but the app and acting really into it really helped. She’s 3 now and I’ve been able to floss her teeth for a few months!

This video is a game changer. My daughter is 2.5 and a lot of this I am still doing for her thinking she cant do it herself. Time to encourage some independence...and the book idea is genius! The library is not utilized enough for me but I need to.

My son is the same age as Kylie, but he does nothing like her, even if I encourage or invite him. More often than not, his answer is NO. Any tips on how to change his mind?
MM M-M in case she doesnt answer, i have some Suggestions based on what ive seen in her videos. Maybe dont use the word no towards him? And when he says no, ask why he told you no. Then explain that you dont say no to him- so why would he say no to you. Or just say okay. And make the activity look really fun. And invite again. Ans tell him that he is allowed to change his mind and its okay if he decides to want to do it. Or say like “i will help you if you want help” “are you saying no because you dont know how? Thats okay, i can show you and then you will know how” 🤷🏻♀️
You can certainly try some of Amber’s tips! But know that he simply may not be interested in the tasks you’re trying to get him to do, and that’s okay. All kids are different. That should be respected, especially in a Montessori environment. Or... maybe he’s just not ready for them, developmentally speaking. And if he’s had a lot of experience with failing at something and feeling frustrated in the past, you might consider breaking a task down for him into smaller, more manageable chunks that he can definitely feel successful at. :) Sometimes, I will just go about doing the activity myself and (as Amber mentioned), make it look super appealing and fun, then she perks up and wants to have a go at it herself! 😊
Just incredible and unbelievable!!! Your baby girl is so independent!!! In the meantime I can't get my 18 months old to play by himself. He just clings to me and wants all the attention to him.
Awesome video! Have the video script last a bit longer please. I always want a smoothie after watching you guys have one. How do you guys make your smoothies? Video idea you could have Kylie doing a cooking video. Have her tell us how she makes something. That would be so cute!
Hi Jessalee! Thanks for watching! We just mix frozen fruit and veggies (typically spinach and/or baby carrots) together with milk and/or water in the NutriBullet, just like I showed in the video. Sometimes we’ll do a chocolate, peanut butter, and banana variation instead (also with spinach). 😊
So, Kylie is clearly not a brussels sprout fan, which kinda cracked me up. What is your policy on eating? Clearly you're not into the whole 'clean plate club' mindset... which is good because that can be super damaging... but do you require that they try everything on their plate? A couple bites of each thing? Or is it totally up to them? (And by "them" I guess I mostly mean Kylie since Mia isn't really eating regular food yet)
I’m a super picky eater myself, so I don’t feel like I can be so strict about it because I can’t even model it... 😬🙈 I hated as a kid that no one ever simply respected my likes/dislikes (which have greatly evolved into adulthood anyway)... so I’ve always had the mindset that I wanted to encourage good eating habits, but not dictate and make it a battle. I try my best to provide her with healthy options... and although I will typically try to include one food item at each meal that I know for sure she will eat, I otherwise refuse to cook her a “special meal”. I’m not a short-order cook, and my philosophy is that everyone in the family eats the same thing when we sit down together for dinner. I do encourage her to try everything on her plate, and if she doesn’t like it, that’s fine. Ultimately, she decides how much she’s eating and which of her foods to eat that I’ve offered. Sometimes we’ll have a small dessert if she ate a majority or all of her dinner, but there are otherwise no extra snacks (after dinner, which is primarily the only time she’ll refuse certain foods - breakfast and lunch are much easier). If she goes to bed a little hungry, then that’s the natural consequence. There’s always breakfast in the morning, and she won’t starve. 🤷🏼♀️ I’d like to think I take a pretty natural, no-gimmicks approach to eating. And, for the most part, it avoids many of the battles that other parents sometimes experience.
Beautiful babies! All thanks to your videos, I am inspired to work on my 4 month old to be more independent as she is developing, I made the mistake in doing everything for with my first born who is now 6 years old and still depends on me to do a few things, but he has gotten so much better in being independent as he is transitioning to elementary school all thanks to the Montessori approach. It is never too late to change the approach in your household, it is working well for me.
As you may have seen in the video, we clean and cook together. And for the few (rare) times when Kylie does not want to be involved, she plays independently nearby while I do these things. The baby is either with me, sleeping, or also playing independently on the floor nearby.
I love how you let your oldest be independent and learn how to take care of herself. I work in a childcare center and I try to teach my toddlers to be more independent and not needing for us to do everything for them.

I also can never Montessori inspired videos for older elementary age kids! Just toddlers. Would you ever make more videos!? Me and my kids would watch together and they would get ideas on what we could do together or what they can start helping with doing independently! ❤😭🫶🏻 Hope all is well with you all!!
Ummm this is not a child, this is a small independent woman who don’t need no help 💁🏽♀️! Lol parenting goals!!
Hahaha 😅😊😊
I love this! Growing up, my mom typically did things herself because it seemed faster. In the end, helping your child learn and do things on their own can actually offer the parent more time and energy in the end because your children actually know how to do a lot of the day to day things. Thanks for sharing!
Love how independent she is! What a fun and productive day :) thanks for the upload!
This little girl is so well behaved, so helpful and so independent at this age! Lovely!
Thank you for showing how to implement Montessori in a down to earth, relatable way 🤗
Love, a soon to be first time mom

This video made me smile from begging till end. Love how much Kylie is able to do on her own.
Great video ❤️
me too, my so seems eagered anyway
so wonderful how you and your babies have true quality time.
Thumbs up!
Your daughters are sooooo cute and intelligent. I'm not even pregnant but I want to be able to teach all these things to my babies. Lovely work!
Wow being a mother really is a fully time job!! Amazing!
Your children are so loved! You are a wonderful mom!
Ashley, you make it look so easy! You're such an incredible mom
The part where you and Kylie were seasoning the chicken made me cry it was so sweet. You are an awesome mom.
You are a WONDERFUL MOTHER!!! Thank God I found your channel.
She’s too cute. So independent. Reminds me of my niece
You are SUCH a good mom and I wish more tiny humans had the nurturing amd love you offer yours.
Yeah, it's not a chore to her (yet, at least) - just part of the daily routine of living life and learning as you go!
Kylie has such a cute personality. She loves to read, loves to wear dresses, and is going to be a very strong and independent woman! Love it.
i feel so proud my daughter is 11 months old nd it turns out ive been doing this the whole time without knowing i let her decide her cloths choose her toys what she eats and plays she says yeah nd no nd if she says no i dnt push it when she throws tantrums i comfort her nd explain to her y she cant do things i hope by the time shes this big shell be this well behaved
You are such a wise, calm and happy mom Ashley! Thank you so much for sharing your day with us all, great to have this available to everyone!
This has encouraged me to really reflect and to change things around a bit in my home. Thank you so much
My 1.5 year old who attends a Montessori school was GLUED to this video! 💕
This is impressive, well done parents! Glory to Yeshua.
Less than three minutes in and I’m so impressed! Me and my Husband are having our first baby in July and I am soaking up all this wonderfulness. God is so good to bless us with these little creations ❤️
I'm in love with your family lol.
Hugs all the way from Namibia, Africa
SHE LETS YOU FLOSS HER TEETH?! My 2.5 year old barely even lets me brush her teeth. I can't even imagine trying to floss. 😭
Allysa Lawson have you tried the wiggles teeth brushing app? My 2 yo hated brushing at first but the app and acting really into it really helped. She’s 3 now and I’ve been able to floss her teeth for a few months!
I started laying my 2 year old on his back on the counter and playing "dentist" and he FINALLY lets me brush his teeth. Maybe try that. Its the only things that's worked for us. Good luck!! 😂 I know how frustrating it can be
Oh she's gotten much better about brushing since posting this lol 💖 definitely need to check that app out though!
I am so in love with your material. I have a five year old girl and a little boy on the way. I will definitely be using your content as a guide for how I can seamlessly convert my home to a montessori environment. You present the information in a way that is easy to comprehend and guilt free. You totally won my subscription.
Wow, I did not even know I was teaching my daughters the “montessori” way. I also started when they were babies. People are always impressed to see my two-year-old crack eggs. Thanks for sharing.
Right?? This was the norm for my family growing up, who would have thought lol
I love watching these videos. I have a 18 month old daughter who I try to implement Montessori into our lives everyday. Someday's I feel like I struggle the most. But I've seen so much benefit from it already. I'm currently reading Montessori Toddler and have learned a lot. But your videos help me learn and see so much more. Thank you for your awesome channel and I can't wait to see it grow even more!!
I’m 13 years old, so like why an I even thinking about this, but it’s amazing seeing Kylie do so much for herself, I want my kids to be able to do that
Ruby Casella 1st you be that kid😂
This video is a game changer. My daughter is 2.5 and a lot of this I am still doing for her thinking she cant do it herself. Time to encourage some independence...and the book idea is genius! The library is not utilized enough for me but I need to.
First, Gemma has that dress and I love it! Second I miss big city libraries so much. We have the sweetest little library in our town but it doesn’t compare to city ones! Loved it, great video 💕
I love love love this! I’m a first time mom and watching this makes me feel like I’m doing things right. My baby is 4 months old and since she was born I’ve been feeling like I don’t know what I’m doing but trying to raise my baby the Montessori way and this has validated what I’ve been doing up until now! Thank you for sharing your life!
Love hubby’s Baby Daddy shirt😂
It’s amazing to see what Kylie is doing at her age. I’ve been watching your videos since having my first child. She is almost 4 months now and I am sold on Montessori style of education. Your children are beautiful BTW.
I am so curious about mia's sleep space! Is that just a crib mattress on the floor? Why? I want to know more!
In another video Ashley explained it's just a firm twin size mattress, so she can climb on and off at leisure and explore her room, learning movement indipendence at a very early age, while also having a designated space for sleeping
@@KyrieFortune Thank you! I have since done some more research on Montessori and floor beds and actually my own 10 month old is now sleeping in one!
You're a fantastic mum, I'm glad I found you.. You are really going to help and inspire me to be the parent Ive always wanted to be. Thank you so SO much!!
31 weeks pregnant with our first 💕
Hold up hold up hold up!
You laid your baby down...and she just slept...on her own....for 1.5 hours??!! 😭😭😭😩😩 please move in with me and teach me your ways. She usually sleeps pretty well but it’s so noisey in my house she doesn’t sleep long and I have to nurse her to sleep. This was something I requested so thank you !!!!!!
Your girls are so lucky to have you as a mom. I just felt so much joy watching, thank you for sharing and helping other parents to aspire to this kind of parenting. It is obvious how much heart and work you put into raising your children and I hope to do the same with my now 1 year old ❤
My son is the same age as Kylie, but he does nothing like her, even if I encourage or invite him. More often than not, his answer is NO. Any tips on how to change his mind?
MM M-M in case she doesnt answer, i have some
Suggestions based on what ive seen in her videos.
He just clings to me and wants all the attention to him.
the point is not to "get" them to, its in their own time and desire. some kids are clingier, some are more willing to do more alone
That is the most precious thing to see her clean up after eating breakfast
She can pour milk better than me!
😂
These kids have an amazing mom and I are going places
When do find time to clean and cook?
As you may have seen in the video, we clean and cook together. And for the few (rare) times when Kylie does not want to be involved, she plays independently nearby while I do these things. The baby is either with me, sleeping, or also playing independently on the floor nearby.
I love how you let your oldest be independent and learn how to take care of herself. I work in a childcare center and I try to teach my toddlers to be more independent and not needing for us to do everything for them.
when do you poop or shower?! holy moly what a sacrifice it is to be a parent
😂😂😂😂😂
Nap time...
Thank you for your videos. I’ve been stuck on them for the last week or so. They are so helpful and genuine. I love them!
Wow! I am blown away by your (bigger) little girl's independence and confidence and organisation and doing it all with such sweet excitement and charm. Top marks for being a truly wonderful mum!! What an inspiration you are. What an amazing library you have too! - so lucky. :) Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful.....the most important work on the planet and getting it done. Thank you for sharing.
I dont have any children but I am obsessed with your videos
Wow! Thank you so much for this. I just stumbled across your page , this is the only video I've seen so far but I'm definitely going to watch more. I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. I can't wait to raise her this way. Feeling so inspired right now. 🥰
Y’all get so much done in a day! I love the balance there is with both girls! Well done mama!
WOW she´s so independent your little girl!!! Love it, you´re a great mom
thanks for letting us watch
I stumbled on this video by chance and cannot believe what I saw!! WOW you are like a super mom!!
This is impressive. I only recently discovered Montessori Parenting. Adults underestimate children far too much. Thanks for sharing.
You’re patient, attentive, and calm, and these attributes surely have contributed to Kylie’s independence. My 14 month old grand daughter loved watching Kylie and Mia. Thank you for another informative video ❤️.
Thank you so much. 💕 Some days I def feel like I’m just winging it, haha, but I’m always trying my best.
I think we all know that feeling. But by sharing, you’re making more of an impact than you can imagine. Much aloha.
I am amazed at what a 2 and half years old ca do. I watch another video of your elder child and I am amazed how capable and and independent and self reliant is she. Very inspiring :-) Greetings from Bulgaria
I'm currently 5 months pregnant and just wanna say your videos and advice are all so reassuring. Thank you for sharing with us ❤
You are such a beautiful mum! (Mom) .
You should be so proud of yourself
