- There's so much to share with you! This video is the kick-off for the March Canning Madness collaboration. I canned classic, simple carrots to store in the pantry, used Forjars lids for the first time, and talked about why exactly I can root veggies.

Never canned carrots, because I prefer fresh. But hey the old “ bird in the hand is better than one in the bush” is beginning to get very real. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely.
When I was growing up, helping my mom can carrots, she liked to can them in sticks. It was my job to fit as many carrot sticks in a jar as I could get. It was like solving a puzzle to get them fit into the jars. Good memories ❤️❤️
Your caring calm way makes each video is good time spent along with the education.
The more I watch these canning videos the more I see the many reasons for canning. The most liked reason for me is when you want say carrots for a recipe you have a Jar in your pantry . When you have them in my your
Refrigerator you won’t find they all went bad!
Marcia from MI here. I like the idea of canning carrots instead of taking up space in freezer. Thanks for March Canuary.
Don’t you just love how pretty canned carrots look! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for getting together a canning colab! Love watching these type of videos.
I love the tee shirt! Here in Florida and adopt fostered children, it costs nothing to adopt one of those sweet kids. I like that, since a lot of those kids are, through no fault of their own, are either unable to live with their family due to removal for a variety of reasons, or they are orphaned and have no one else to love and care for them. To me it is a heartbreaking situation. Give your friend and her “new” a hug from me! And as I am very new rto canning, thank you for the patient explanation on pressure canning! I’m getting more brave and may actually give it a shot soon! ❤️
I found you through Rachel at That 1870s Homestead. I recently bought a pressure canner and am loving all of these videos! I processed black beans and pinto beans as my first pressure canning ventures.
Beginner here. I watched my grandmother can all kinds of things 40+ years ago but I never learned myself. Figured I better learn with the way things are getting. I know she would put a lot of vegetables in the freezer as well. Sure do miss her pickled cucumbers! Thanks for the videos!
It's funny on how many UA-cam canners make excuses that they bought potatoes or they bought carrots you know it really doesn't matter. if we are prepared and we're canning those vegetables or were canning potatoes it's still a wonderful thing so thanks for sharing your canning of carrots I know that's one thing I need to put into my pantry
I really need to get busy and start buying veggies when they are on sale and starting to can. It's going to be a great month of videos.
That is how I have stocked my pantry!
Carrots are always needed for soups and stews. Great addition to pantry.
I did it! I did my first canning of your carrots. Hubby bought me a canner and then we learned my stove cannot be used for canning. So, he bought me a propane burner and I learned several new things….how to run a burner outside, how to use the canner, and how to do all the inside job of cutting, filling, etc., and then to take outside to can. Whew. I’m exhausted but happy. I’m sure I will get more efficient as I do it more and more. I took a picture to show you but looks like I can’t add a picture here. Thanks again! Now to decide to what to do next. 🤗
very truth adopting is more can you do is a gift to God and to for the kid is saying how love can you do
My daughter has adopted children and has had an amazing experience with their growth. She is on a homestead & homeschools !!
Wonderful!!!
These videos are amazing! I'm new to homesteading, canning and all the fun. Looking forward to learning so much more.
Thank you for all the information, the more you can learn the better you can be!
I love canning carrots! I have noticed how the price of store bought carrots is even rising. So, all the better to can away! Thank you for doing this video!
Just starting to can again. Stopped 20 years ago but watching you gives me the bug to start again. Thanks!
Thank you for opening the door for me to the world of canning. I am super excited! I saved the March Canning Madness 2022 List and will refer back to them.
I’m excited about the March Madness i am in the same process of cleaning out 1 of nu freezers for garden harvest this year!! Love the carrots 🥕 ! Have an awesome week everyone!!!
Canned carrots are a staple for my pantry. I’ve just started doing them in recent years and now I won’t be without them.
Looking forward to every video in this collaboration. Thanks for putting it together. I love having canned potatoes and canned carrots on hand to help whip up a quick meal.
I've water bath canned for years and love the sound of jars "ting" sealing! Am now considering doing ready-to-eat meats in broth, stews and soups in a pressure canner. Thank you for sharing! Blessings Abound.
OMGoodness I love canning carrots and potatoes. I found russets on sale a couple weeks ago for 99 cents for 5 lbs. I bought 25 lbs and canned them all. Same with carrots when I find them. Tonight my supper was mashed potatoes, buttered carrots, and boiled cabbage. Yum! I love that y’all are doing some ingredient canning videos. I’m seriously looking forward to this collaboration.
There should be a good mix of ingredients and meal/dish canning recipes. I know I plan on doing a couple of each :)
@@CosmopolitanCornbread sounds great. Glad to see you enjoying your canning mat. I need to make more for myself and others if you want another. Enjoy this weather we’re having the rest of the week. Gorgeous 🌻👩🌾 ☀️
Wow, the carrots looked so pretty in the jars. I know this was about carrots today but I also learned something about potatoes! Thank you, I’m excited for March Canning Madness!
Thank you for this collaboration. The videos are informative and helpful. I appreciate you.
I am thankful for my canned carrots! Thank you for showing me yet another way to can carrots! 🤓
Constance, the fourjar canning lids are from a USA company & made by their standards in china. I have used the lids & LOVE them!! So far I have used 100 lids & have not had any fails.
I enjoy the convience of having carrots peeled, cut, and ready to use by canning them.
The carrots look so beautiful in the jar
Going to be a busy month! I have 25 lbs of carrots, beets, and potatoes waiting on me. I am thrilled that you are doing the March canning madness! It will keep me motivated.
You made canning carrots so simple, I have always been apprehensive about canning them. Thank you for teaching how easy it is. My next canning venture.
I canned carrots for the first time a few weeks ago. Happy to have them on my shelf.
I can carrots in half pints just because it is only me now. Thanks for the video. A refresher course is always good. Thanks you.
Love canning these staples for easy "convenience" sides (or additions) for meals. Just started building the pantry back up for this year, after eating through so many of my jars this past Winter.
Looking forward to this month’s collaboration. I’m really enjoying these. Been canning for years and will definitely try the new lids
So happy I found this canning collaboration! Great source of information. Thank you
Constance, I just this weekend completed my first canning with a pressure canner. I did homemade beef broth. I impressed me..haha. Scared no more.
*Congratulations!* Canning broth is a good way to get started. Modern canners have a lot of safety features built in, so far less worry than before those came into being. The main things are to follow instructions in your canner manual and don't leave the canner unattended while there's heat under it. Glad you're over the fear hurtle. 👍
My first was chicken broth. Congrats! If you're anything like me, you're going to love your canner not that it's not so scary.
Way to go! Happy canning! You got this!
YAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!! Congratulations. You've now opened up a whole new world :D
Thank you all so much! There is just two of us so my neighbor and I share. She just put in her first raised bed. Constance has encouraged me from afar!
I watch your show all the time, your wonderful teacher, I use to can with my Grandmother and Mom and I have put in my first raised bed garden this year in Texas it has been so much fun and will grow more next year. Looking forward to learn more from you on canning. Thank you for your kindness and God Bless
Thank you :)
This is exactly what I need! I'm so excited for this collaboration! Thanks so much!
I just canned 10 lbs of carrots a few weeks ago. I love having them on our shelf for a quick side. I did one batch in onion soup for a savory carrot, my husband loves them that way.
Canning MADNESS!
Canning scares me. So wonderful to watch you do it...xo
You can do it!!!
I love your calmness and explanation of each step. Great recipe to start with. Thank you!
I can't grow carrots to save my life. But I do buy them and can them. My favorite thing to use them for is Chicken Pot Pie. Thanks for doing this colab. and may God bless you.
Carrots is the first veggie I’ve canned. I learned just how tight finger tight is. I tightened my ring to tight. My lids buckled on the top. So I learned that day.
Canned carrots are great to have in the pantry. I use them in soups, swiss steak sauce, stews etc. I canned some this past summer in a brown sugar sauce. They are yummy.
Yeah! I love the collaborations! I'm looking to learn to can everything I can to make it shelf stable. Last year's freeze nearly cost us all our food. Had I had alot of meat it would have been devestagingl Show me the way of the carrot. My hubbin loves them cooked but my boys will only eat them cold and "raw".
I have a presure canner ordered, can't wait to get started. I've only done hot water bath . Enjoy your channel.
Yay! Another month of canning!!
Canned carrots on the shelf Ida great idea! I make a lot of soups and having the carrots ready to go would be a plus!
I love the sound of the popping lids.
Hi Constance, I love canning! I’m a newbie. Grocery prices are so high that this will help tremendously to save money by buying in bulk! Thankyou! My husband won’t let me buy a water bath canner so winning this would be wonderful. 🥰💕💝💖
Being a new canner this is so wonderful. I get to learn and can along so my pantry begins to grow. Thank you.
You might want to mention it’s normal for the contents to float. So many are new to canning and may not know. Thank you for what you are doing and your sweet spirit.
This is true. Thank you :)
I love how easy this was.Looking forward to more videos. Thanks!
I’ve been wanting to learn how to can. My mom and grandmas were avid canners. When I was very young I was on my grandmas farm and we canned 160+ jars of KY Wonder green beans. I’ll never forget that week. They were even canning outside in a black cauldron. That week I became the “#1 in bean breaker”. Going to be watching all videos and taking it all in. Hopefully I’ll learn the process so that I can become a canner.
You can do it!!
I love canning carrots. They are usually pretty cheap and easy to can. My favorite recipe to use contains pineapple juice, they turn out tasting more like sweet potatoes, my pickier eaters love them.
I think it’s smart to can carrots. I tend to pickle or ferment them. It’ll be nice to have them on the shelf.
I haven’t canned in a long time. I’m looking forward to getting back in the saddle again! I love the simple idea of canning carrots! Thank you!
I will definately be canning carrots soon as it seems so easy and straight forward. Thank you for reaching out to us newbies to the canning world!
Have never canned carrots, but I will be doing this! I planted carrots for the 1st time this year.. thank you❤️
I am a new canner and these videos are so very helpful. Thank you. Many blessings to you!
Great video! I don’t normally can carrots, but I see the “writing in the wall”… Good idea. Thank you.
I enjoyed our "visit" as you peeled. 😀
Funny to have this video right now. I just finished cutting up carrots to can!
Love this March Canning Madness! Can't wait to be inspired!
I’ve never canned carrots but I will now. They look so good.
carrots look so pretty canned in jars!
I'm so glad there is another canning collaboration this month! I love learning from all these great channels. Thanks for organizing this.
I love the simple canning recipes. I have seen people canning all kind of concoctions just to have a full meal in a jar but it's just too much. Sometimes simple is best.
Hi Constance! First time to your channel and it’s very nice to meet you!! Loved your style of teaching and all the added great information. Any day canning is a good day. All my best.
I love carrots. Besides jams and apple butter, carrots were one of the first things I canned! 🧡
Yes to canning potatoes! I just finished canning the 50 pounds of organic potatoes I got from azure! I got 27 quarts and 16 pints the last of them are in the canner waiting for pressure to come down. ~Jennifer
That is awesome!
Your carrots look so pretty. Thank you, take care and God Bless.
I do carrots like this.Good to hear them popping.
I’ve only canned carrots once, they are so good, and beautiful on the shelf
I ordered these lids. I have not gotten to use them yet, but so thankful to have them ready to use. I LOVE canning!!
I had to get all my tomatoes and figs out of the freezer. I've been canning and dehydrating. Thanks for the collab.
Love canning carrots. I can open a jar, add a little mint. Makes a great side dish. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for all of the GREAT information you share with all of us. I know we will all enjoy March canning.
Great video. I came over from Rachel @ 1870's Happy March!😊
This will be my first year canning anything. I actually decided to try growing carrots for the first time as well. I’m hoping I’ll be able to grow and can some to try and sneak into meals for my husband. Lol.
I didn’t realize how easy it was to can carrots. I am definitely going to try it out!
I just canned my own carrots I grew over winter last month .. so easy and I too can mine in pint jars .. as it's mostly just hubby and I most days here ..
I had never thought of canning things that crowded my freezer. So happy to have this video for reference. Thank you!
Added thank you for the list of participants in March Madness Canning. Subscribed to several new to me channels that have good content from a glance at their video lists.
Wonderful!
Thanks for giving us the quick uses for canned carrots. On my to try list.
I did not realize you could can carrots. I love carrots and I will be doing this. Thank you so very much😊
Looking forward to this month AGAIN! Love these collaborations! I've been canning for ages, but typically always just canned in the fall season and just ran out of time come the holidays. This canning in winter early is wonderful. I've been getting my broths restocked and canning older meats from the freezer to prep for easy meal for the summer. Loving this! PS I tried those canning lids for the first time this winter and EVERY jar sealed! Good track record so far! I think you'll like them too!
Thank you for letting me know how the lids did. Because I ordered some a couple of months ago. Which I am canning chicken tomorrow and maybe chicken bone broth. Saturday maybe can some beef.
I`ve canned more carrots the last couple of years than I have in a long time. I tend to can as many glazed carrots as I do plain. Same problem here in SC storing potatoes, so I can up both potato chunks & french fries. Thanks for hosting March Canning Madness!
Do you mind me asking how you do the glazed carrots?
I do a brown sugar glazed version.
ua-cam.com/video/SaybZzzChpo/v-deo.html
@@CosmopolitanCornbread Your recipe is the one that got me hooked on the glazed! :)
Looking forward to all the canning videos, thank you for doing these! Canning carrots are my favorite vegetables to can!! I love Azure Standard! Again thank you for this collaboration!! Going to be a great month!
I love canned carrots!
Love love carrots
Your carrots look beautiful. I love to fry them in butter with salt and pepper. There so delicious. I’m really excited to watch all these videos in this collab. Glad you put it together.
Carrots are On my list to do.. thanks
Loving this collaboration!
I love canned carrots. Easy for my old dog to eat too
I'm looking forward to hitting up the farmers market for carrot canning this season.
